CNN asked for and received a statement from John Kelly, retired general and Trump’s former chief of staff. Kelly confirmed Trump’s worst comments about veterans.
“What can I add that has not already been said?” Kelly said, when asked if he wanted to weigh in on his former boss in light of recent comments made by other former Trump officials. “A person that thinks those who defend their country in uniform, or are shot down or seriously wounded in combat, or spend years being tortured as POWs are all ‘suckers’ because ‘there is nothing in it for them.’ A person that did not want to be seen in the presence of military amputees because ‘it doesn’t look good for me.’ A person who demonstrated open contempt for a Gold Star family – for all Gold Star families – on TV during the 2016 campaign, and rants that our most precious heroes who gave their lives in America’s defense are ‘losers’ and wouldn’t visit their graves in France.
“A person who is not truthful regarding his position on the protection of unborn life, on women, on minorities, on evangelical Christians, on Jews, on working men and women,” Kelly continued. “A person that has no idea what America stands for and has no idea what America is all about. A person who cavalierly suggests that a selfless warrior who has served his country for 40 years in peacetime and war should lose his life for treason – in expectation that someone will take action. A person who admires autocrats and murderous dictators. A person that has nothing but contempt for our democratic institutions, our Constitution, and the rule of law.
“There is nothing more to be said,” said Kelly. “God help us.”

It’s a sad commentary on the state of the US both politically and culturally that this creature of small mind and even lesser character is being considered a contender for your highest office.

I vehemently opposed the Vietnam War, for which I was the perfect age. I likewise despised the Iraq War (W’s war), as it was based entirely on lies.
I never had anything but respect and admiration for those who served. The unselfishness and dedication of the military men and women I’ve known has been deep and constant.
Trump cares about none of this; he doesn’t even understand it. He is incapable of comprehending love of country and what it represents, the good and the bad. He has never seen any good in sacrificing a goddamned thing to benefit Americans. He only knows how to grasp and steal and lie in service only to himself. We cannot allow such a creature to occupy the presidency again.

Have you read about Traitor Trump’s latest stunt in the New York trial that started yesterday. He’s lying that the judge is corrupt and out to get him, wouldn’t let him have a jury, and his fascist loving MAGA mob is getting angry. Fox FAKE News and other extreme right propaganda sites seems onboard with these lies too.
Anyone that reads the traditional media quickly learns the reason the traitor doesn’t have a jury. Because his lawyers didn’t ask for one. The choice is up to the defendant.
The traitor has a life long history as a super micromanager. Everyone that works for him and his crime family knows you do nothing without his approval ahead of time.
And when something goes wrong, he blames someone else, never him, the first and last decider for everything.
I read one piece back in 2015 or 16 that quoted lawyers that had worked for the traitor that after meetings with him, where they were not allowed to record or take notes, once out of the room after getting their marching orders, they’d write everything down while it was fresh in their minds so they had a record of what the traitor ordered them to do and double checked each other. Later, if the Traitor lied that he didn’t tell them that, those notes were mostly for them, only to be used if he was throwing them under the bus in court.
Since they’d signed confidentiality agreements, they couldn’t turn him in for ordering them to lie or break a law. Those notes were insurance with the other lawyers as witnesses, for each other just in case the Traitor thew them under the bus.
And that is what’s happening with the case in Georgia. The people he ordered to try and steal the election have been cutting deals by turning on him and saying he ordered them to do it.
There has to be real bodies dumped somewhere, people he’s had murdered, unless the traitor had them all dissolved in acid and nothing’s left.

These autocratic extremists intend to hobble the functioning of the federal government under the guise of ‘draining the swamp’ or ‘dismantling the administrative state,’ and it includes the military. The always need someone or something to be a target. They will abandon Ukraine which may lead to a war between Russia and NATO. Trump is dangerous, but so are DeSantis and Ramaswamy, IMO. They have huge egos and will fail to consider consequences. We may not have our system of checks and balances if any of these fools neutralize the federal government.

“Outside of mainstream Catholicism”
Given the politicalization of the Catholic Church, the summary statement is flawed because it has no meaning.
For example, the law firm associated with the Trump administration, Don McGahn, and Antonin Scalia is Jones Day. The firm has Catholic managing partners, the previous one and current one, are both alums of Notre Dame. One was on the school’s Board of Trustees and the other one is on the advisory council for the law school..
IMO, it is reasonable to conclude that the law firm wanted standing in court cases to advance Catholic viewpoints because, reportedly, they made it known to Catholic organizations that they would take cases pro bono, cases like those about contraceptives.
Tip of the iceberg- 12 cases representing 43 Catholic organizations. (Bloomberg Law publication)
Joel- Why don’t you post an article that doesn’t try to absolve the Catholic Church of its right wing identity.

Well, when the country chose Reagan, I thought, we can’t sink any lower. Then, it chose Bush, Jr. (sort of). And I thought, OK, I was wrong, but this is the bottom of the barrel.
Nope. Donald. He is the picture next to lowlife in a dictionary. A creep and a cretin and a criminal.

A point of clarification. The “country” did not choose Reagan, or W, or Trump. Stupid people did.
For example, when Reagan campaigned, he said that he would cut taxes by $750 billion, spend a $trillion more on defense, and balance the budget. LOTS of American workers, at places like John Deere and Caterpillar, voted for Reagan.
So, Reagan cut taxes, and spent LOTS more on defense, and blew up the budget deficit and the national debt. Because we had to borrow so much money, the value of the dollar increased relative to other countries, and American exports (Deere tractors, Caterpillar heavy equipment) became more expensive and imports became much cheaper.
The result? The trade deficit ballooned. Money left the country, and jobs followed. As the NY Times reported in January of 1985,
“To survive, some industries have had to move factories overseas, at the cost of American jobs…”
Caterpillar’s foreign sales, which made up nearly 60 percent of its overall sales, dropped by 20 percent in the first half of 1982, while Komatsu, a Japanese competitor, saw its export sales increase by about 50 percent.
What did Caterpillar do? Lay off workers.
What about John Deere? Sales of tractors dropped by 40 percent, and Deere began hemorrhaging money, and Deere reduced wages and benefits, and by the mid-1980s, its workforce had dropped by a third.
So, all those Deere and Caterpillar and other manufacturing workers who voted for Reagan, actually voted to cut their own pay and, in some cases, their jobs.
Stupid, stupid, stupid.
And the American taxpayers got stuck with Reagan’s tripling of the national debt.

Kelly really roasted Trump. Considering that he was one of the people who was supposed to be a trump handler, it is remarkable that he is making these statements now.

Spirit Halloween? followed by Christmas Tree Shops?
The Dark Tower?
Little-known facts about the soon-to-be former Trump Tower:
The top three floors of Trump Tower, aka the nest of Don the Con, was voted tackiest, most tasteless dwelling in the Galaxy, beating out Mar-a-Lago, which merited only a second place because its true hideousness was partially hidden by boxes of ultra-classified documents. What a winner you are, Donnie! You win so much, you must get tired of winning!
The penthouse floors of Trump Tower are just magical! For example, they can defy geometry. Yes, you heard that right! As reported by Don Cheeto “Little Fingers” Trumpbalone, their square footage and area can sometimes be really, really small and sometimes be really, really big. They were smallest when Trump needed to pay taxes and biggest when Trump needed loans to stave off bankruptcy because he’s such an incredible businessman. Incredible. Just incredible. Nothing like it. Obama have penthouses like that? People call me and they say, yeah, right, Mr. President! It’s the stuff fairytales are made of!
The Golden Escalator in Trump Tower extends through the basement and into the depths of hell, allowing easy access from below for Trump’s chief advisors and his mentors, Satan, Mammon, and Vladimir the Lesser. Symbolically, ofc, the famous Trump descent on this escalator was a descent of the entire country into madness and chaos and rule by an asset of the Russian Federation.

I do in one respect feel a little sorry for Trump. If he wanted to testify in any of the MANY trials he is currently facing as a result of his career in fraud and sedition and treason, he would have to do so in English, which is not a tongue that he BARELY SPEAKS OR UNDERSTANDS.
