Heather Cox Richardson has a very funny post about Trump’s big surprise announcement and the reactions to it. you have to open the link and scroll to the bottom to see her choice selection of tweets. One came from an insurrectionist who said, “And I’m going to jail for this?”
Yesterday, former president Trump took to his Truth Social media platform to announce that he would be making “a MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT” today. Since he recently threw his hat in the ring for president in 2024, there was a great deal of speculation about what political move this would be.
When it came today, it turned out that his announcement was for digital trading cards with images of him as a superhero…available for $99 apiece. Radio personality John Melendez promptly called them “Broke’mon cards.”
Ron Filipkowski, a former federal prosecutor and Republican who now monitors right-wing extremism, tweeted: “All I can say is that those of us who have lost friends, fought with relatives, resigned positions, been called traitor, left our party, all because we saw very clearly what a con-man, huckster and fraud this man is, have never felt more vindicated.”
The reduction of the former president to a cartoon grifter seems likely to have political repercussions. Right-wing media personality Baked Alaska, who is facing six months in jail after pleading guilty to parading, demonstrating or picketing inside a Capitol building for his participation in the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol, tweeted: “i can’t believe i’m going to jail for an nft salesman,” with a sad face emoji.
You gotta read the rest.
It’s truly hilarious that FINALLY some of the thickest Trumpanzees have seen what a schlocky con man The Idiot is. Baked Alaska, seer of the obvious (after a while).
Hurry, while supplies last, and get with your TRUMP NFTs official Trump-signed Top Secret classified documents in the original folders!
Offer void where prohibited by law. Said documents become the sole property of TRUMP NFT Sweepstakes Winners. who absolve The Don, Cheeto “Littlefingers” Trumpbalone, aka Don the Con, aka Vladimir’s Agent Orange, and the Trump Racketeer Influenced Corrupt Organization of any responsibility for them.
OK, stepping back from the satire, seriously. why are these criminals still walking around running their cons? Why have so many little morons who followed Trump into insurrection at the Capitol been prosecuted when Mr. Fake Electors, Mr. Storm the Capitol, Mr. Stop the Steal, Mr. Obstruct an Official Proceeding, Mr. Attempted Seditious Overthrow of the Elected Government, the serial con man and predator, is golfing, dining at his club, and running more of these cons?
Where is justice?
Asleep?
Trump long ago stopped being funny. The failure to prosecute Trump and his slimeball co-conspirators long ago stopped being funny. This is quite serious. It goes to the heart of democratic governance. Are we really going to be a country in which “justice” operates against the little guy but lets the Trumps trample over everything and everyone with impunity?
Equal justice under law.
A joke. A freaking bad joke.
Yes, indeed.
The columnists joke , but fail to ask why there is still no indictment.
Sam Bankmsn-Fried has already been indicted mere weeks after his fraud became apparent.
And lots of the insurrectionists are going to jail.
But Trump is still free for some very odd reason that we will probably never be made privy to.
Equal Just us under Alito
Meadows still roams free, as well. Despite a J6 criminal referral to the Dept of Justice, a year ago. But I’m not giving up hope. I think Meadows is cooperating with the investigations, behind the scenes. And I think Trump is going to jail. Need an airtight case against him. He’s a professional criminal with lots of connections. But he’s losing support which is a big part of the game. A big part of his allure is telling people that he’s the only one who respects them. He’s on their side. This was a very very stupid move. He’s going down.
Maybe this is Traitor Trump’s McCarthy moment, and he shot himself in his backside buns, not someone else.
So far, it’s only others who have suffered. From the families of the morons who rose to Trump’s call and stormed the Capitol or signed on as fake electors in Trump’s plan to overthrow the election to the moms and dads and kids separated by the Trump Maladministration’s kidnapping policy at the border, others have suffered, while the Trumps buy multmillion-dollar homes and golf at their private clubs.
The Teflon Don 2.0. It all slides off this slimeball.
There is obviously no limit to the things people will do to
avoid having their own dirty laundry wired.

Below is a transcript of the beginning of today’s (Dec. 15) Fresh Air, with Terry Gross interviewing Rachel Maddow. Go to the NPR website to listen to the entire program about an earlier generation of racists and traitors.
“TERRY GROSS, HOST:
“This is FRESH AIR. I’m Terry Gross. My guest, Rachel Maddow, has a new hit podcast series called “Ultra” in which she reports a little-known story about an ultra-right pro-Nazi movement that plotted to overthrow the U.S. government by force in the lead up to World War II. These groups worked with an agent from Hitler’s government named George Viereck. He also colluded with over 20 sitting members of the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives to launder and spread Nazi propaganda, often at taxpayers’ expense. Those congressmen were associated with the America First Committee, a group with many antisemitic leaders. The group opposed America entering World War II. In 1944, the plots led to the largest sedition trial in U.S. history. Maddow says there’s a reason to know this history now because calculated efforts to undermine democracy, foment a coup, spread disinformation, overt actions involving not just a radical band of insurrectionists, but actual serving members of Congress working alongside them, it’s terrible, but it’s not unprecedented…”
Saw this. Unreal and, yet; too real. Hopefully we learned from history and won’t repeat that debacle. I saw Jim Jordan trying to discredit that evangelical “turncoat” during a hearing. Despicable.
There’s no way that tRump has any more than the most rudimentary understanding of what an NFT is, so I’d like to know who put him onto the idea. The situation is so ludicrously stupid, following other absurd flubs like the white supremacist dinner, that I have to wonder if people aren’t punking him in order to assist him in his already considerable ability at making a fool of himself. This idea might seem implausible at first until you consider that this is the easiest and fastest way to separate him from his base and continue to isolate him. There is no shortage of experienced dirty tricksters among the Rethuglicans. The cult part of the base will go down with the trump ship.
That’s an interesting theory, Jon.
And it is amazing to see some Republicans (from the dangerous clowns in D.C. down to the lowest Burgermeister Meisterburgers running rural America.) trying to distance themselves from #45. Clumsy, hilarious, stupid and very, very scary.
Scuttling their own guy….ha, ha.
It makes me wonder if the current efforts to “cleanse” (in a diabolical way) and control the teaching of history in public schools are also in some way a preemptive effort to shape the narrative of the Trump years? Spinning history textbooks.
I’m not a conspiracy theorist. But to some of these GOPers this sort of sneaky stuff is a like a second skin. It just comes naturally…
P.S.
The truly scary aspect are the people who continue to drink the “Trumptini” (supposedly a real thing!) There (could it even still be?) millions of true believers!
As the late, wonderful Professor John Hain said more than once, (and I paraphrase), it’s one thing to lie to other people, it’s another thing to lie to yourself.
https://sites.newpaltz.edu/news/2018/10/college-mourns-passing-of-john-h-hain-sr-emeritus-professor-of-secondary-education/
There sure are a lot of people out there telling all sorts of lies to themselves these days.
BTW I used Wikipedia to quickly research Trump’s tentacle-like proclivity to brand himself. It seems fitting. And, in honor of Michael Scott, ha, ha.
It got me to thinking…what would be the WORST gift to give to a liberal Trump hater this holiday season?
A. Neopalpa donaldtrumpi (a species of micro-moth that was named in 2016 because the yellowish-white scales on its head were reminiscent of Trump’s hairstyle. I picture scabies with wings, all over my living room.)
B. A weekend at Trump’s Plaza Casino in Atlantic City, NJ (Bring a sleeping bag since you’ll be looking for a cozy spot outdoors…it was imploded.)
C. The Trumpy Bear. (Okay,I’ve gotten gifts like this. What do you DO with it? You wouldn’t give it to an innocent child? Destroy it with relish? That’s odd, too.) Yeah, it’s a teddy bear that looks like The Donald.
D. Trump: The Game. (You ever been playing a board game with someone and you cheat to make it end?)

Okay, I have got to go shovel. Enough procrastinating. Stay warm, all!
The Republican part leaders like Mitch McConnel are desperateky trying to sabotage Trump at this point.
No doubt about it.
And DeSzntis is obviously their man.
THAT is what the media should be focussing on.
And would be if they had a single brain cell.
Most members of the media don’t even mention all the nutballs and nsurrectionist supporters that DeSantis campaigned for recently (including Herschel Walker)
They are still focussed on Trump’s idiotic antics.
It’s hard to tell who is more the idiot. Trump or the “journalists”who are obsessed with him.
“has any more than the most rudimentary understanding of what an has any more than the most rudimentary understanding of what an NFT”
I have no clue as to what an NFT is but then again I suffer from AIIDS* so I have a valid reason. What is NFT?
*AIIDS = Acronym Identification Impairment Disorder Syndrome (to be included in the DSM-X.)
Me too.
non-fungible token, Duane
Gracias!
Good read here, Duane!

Thanks Cristine!
Hard pass on the Brokèmon cards.
Laugh all you want you radical left-wing marxists. You won’t be laughing when I’m filthy rich from my NFT cards. I lost my shirt on crypto and this is the perfect opportunity to make it all back.
Go to 7:30 of this broadcast to get the best, simplest explanation of NFTs you’ll ever hear. Makes this Idiot episode even funnier.

My primary physician knows many who have had dealings with Trump over the years. He told me that nobody likes Trump. Nobody.
He was able to litigate and litigate and litigate his way out of problems here in New York City, but the federal and international stage is entirely different game.
Cunning but stupid. Big blunder, here. I think he’s going to be in jail within the next two years. And good riddance to very bad rubbish.
A friend who owns a very high end optician store said Trump showed up one day and ordered the most expensive spectacles she had. The cost was about $5,000. When he came to pick them up, he refused to pay, demanded she cut the price, she wouldn’t, and he walked out without glasses
Poor Donald didn’t get his glasses.
Total Turd.
Some have been worried that perhaps Trump would like to take up the position currently held by Nancy Pelosi. It’s a relief that this is just another con.
What really struck me was that Trump”s digital trading cards show his utter contempt and disrespect for his base.
Unbelievable. I wonder if one or two well heeled cronies bought them out to make him look good.
