This should be a fascinating event, and it starts in only 2 1/2 hours!
Educators and concerned citizens in South Carolina are holding a Town Hall zoom at Furman University about the new legislative mandates that criminalize teaching the truth about race and gender.
I asked for and received permission for readers of this blog to join the zoom.

Diane: I wonder if the anti-group understands that they are trying to mandate their own special kind of Putin-type propaganda. CBK
Putin Propaganda has been in every democracy for at least twenty years (or more), and it is all designed to mislead and disrupt democracies.
Putin was behind the UK leaving the EU.
Putin was behind Traitor Trump being elected president in 2016.
Putin is responsible for autocratic, Putin[supporting leaders being elected to lead democracies (again Trump), and then Putin supports them to become dear leaders for life. I would not be surprised if Putin whispered dear nothing in Traitor Trump’s ear telling him how to pull of a coup so he could establish a Trump dynasty in the United States.
Inside Russia, Putin’s propaganda machine sends out different crap designed to program people to support Putin’s dictatorship, war in Ukraine against Nazis (there a couple of thousand neo-Nazis in Ukraine out of 40 million population), and to maintain Putin’s Russian Autocratic Stalinist style of Nationalism.
I think you misunderstand what the “Anti-Truth” panel is about. They are not spreading propaganda. They are analyzing how to teach truth when laws are passed forbidding it.
They are educators and they can’t “mandate” anything
Diane: I understood very well . . . just didn’t express myself well. I was speaking about the anti-truth people/or anti-critical race theory ideas, not the panel. CBK
Oh, of course the people imposing their political views by law are indoctrinating students.
Thanks for the heads up! Attending!!!
Having a right wing governor and a red majority state legislature is a regressive, dystopian ticket to the “uncivil war.”
I watched the full zoom and couldn’t decide whether I was happy that there are sane people fighting for academic freedom or to be depressed because it’s South Carolina and the odds against them are so overwhelming.
I watched the whole event and was very moved by all the speakers. The draconian bills are not being passed only in SC but in too many other places too. I think I was most disturbed by the fact that the professor (I am so sorry I didn’t note her name) receives death threats, hate mail and such extraordinary hate for her teaching. Is everyone being surveilled all the time?
