Sandy Hook parents won a defamation lawsuit against rightwing media figure Alex Jones. Their children were murdered on December 14, 2012, in a massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut. A total of 20 children between the ages of six and seven were killed, along with six staff members, including the principal.
For years, Alex Jones has asserted that the massacre was staged and that the film footage showed child actors. His repeated slanders were deeply hurtful to the families who lost children and adult relations.

The parents, who each sued Jones for more than $1 million for claiming, among other things, that the 2012 slaying of 26 first-graders and educators at Sandy Hook Elementary School was “staged,” “synthetic,” “manufactured,” “a giant hoax” and “completely fake with actors,” had been battling with Jones in Travis County District Court for pretrial documents he had been ordered to turn over to them.

You can bet that Jones has been busy stashing his wealth in off-shore sites and will claim to be broke, poor and indigent when it comes time to pay the damages.

I know people who live in that community. Of course his comments were “deeply hurtful” to these people, but even more, they receive death threats, have property vandalized, and fear for their lives. Can you imagine dealing with that after you’ve lost a child, friend or family member in such a heinous way?
A nightmare for the families. Alex Jones should make a public apology multiple times and give up all his ill-gotten gains to the families he dragged through the mud after their tragedy.
This is a sad commentary on the world in which we live that families who have suffered the most unthinkable of traumas have to go to court to stop people from hurting them in public.
Besides paying an enormous amount of $$$$ to these families, I think he should be made to use his “media platform” to give a formal apology and to acknowledge every victim by name. He should have to tell his “audience” that they are to step down and leave these families alone.
Alex Jones has a mental disorder (as do many of his followers) which likely cannot be “treated” (only marginally controlled with extensive therapy). He falls into the group of Class B Personality Disorders. When will this country realize that mental health issues are a real problem and social media platforms exacerbate the problem?
Certainly seems that way.

Is the impact of crazy hot air relative to the
“value” given to it by the ears of the beholder?

“wise men shun the mistakes of fools…”
The “logic” of being impacted by the din of
“crazy” escapes me.
After AJ pays damages, chances are he’ll still be
“crazy”…
Because he’s a narcissist….a psychopath. He’s a “Jim Jones” and I wish that he would drink some “Kool Ade” and spare the rest of us his “hot air”. He is a horrible piece of flesh and I can’t find the goodness within myself to refer to him as a human being.
Was that actually a diagnosts? All I could come up with online is that in his deposition a couple of yrs ago he said he ‘almost had like a form of psychosis.’
Prediction
If the damages are small, Alex joined will pay up and keep on spreading false conspiracy theories and lies.
If the damages are huge and will destroy him financially, he will hide as much of his money, if he hasn’t already done it, in numbered offshore accounts, and file bankruptcy to avoid paying. If there is a threat that he might end up behind bars, he might flee the country and live off the fortune he’s hidden in offshore accounts.
Alex Jones might even end up in Russia and back online with a new website spreading his false conspiracy theories and lies with support from Putin.
Remember how Trump claims he is the Chosen One. Trump is correct that he was chosen but he will never admit he wasn’t chosen by God but by Putin who thinks he is a god.
Trump is a want-to-be-god in waiting, and to get there he will destroy everything and everyone if he isn’t stopped.
