The organization called “UnKoch My Campus” does a great job of tracking and exposing the influence of billionaire Charles Koch in schools and higher education. Join with them in calling attention to Koch’s Dark Money:
Each year in October, UnKoch My Campus coordinates a National Day of Action that focuses on building public awareness of the impact of the Koch network within institutions of education and our broader democracy. This year, we will take collective action and reach out to Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona, requesting that he address the issue of dark money in education, all the way from Kindergarten through college. Our K-12 and Critical Race Theory reports have shown us the role dark money’s influence has in destabilizing our democracy, advancing climate denial, and prioritizing private profits over people and our planet.
Join us October 28th and 29th! We want to make sure Secretary Cardona knows about the impact of the Koch network and how they are leveraging our institutions of education to spread climate disinformation and destabilize our democracy.
Click the link below and we’ll do the work for you. Simply enter your information and we’ll add your name and return address to the postcard. SIGN UP FOR A POSTCARD BEFORE OCTOBER 15th.

“We want to make sure Secretary Cardona knows…”
Is the hypothesis, It’s what Cardona DOESN’T
know, that causes trouble?
As a “Secretary of Education”, what rock could he
be under, to have missed all that has been explained
in the publications of (drum-roll) DIANE RAVITCH?
What planet is he on to require a message of,
Earth to Cardona, MONEY dark or otherwise,
has corrupted our society?
Has he really missed the memos?
“The top 1% of Americans control $41.52 trillion, according to the Federal Reserve. That’s roughly 16 times more wealth than the bottom 50%.”
OR
Sanders:
“The top one-tenth of one percent owns almost as much wealth as the bottom 90 percent. The 50 wealthiest people in this country own more wealth than the bottom half of Americans — 165 million people. Since 1985, the bottom 90% of Americans have seen their share of our nation’s wealth
DECLINE.”
“It ain’t what you don’t know that causes trouble.
It’s what you know for sure that ain’t so.”
Unfettered capitalism is not democracy and
democracy is not unfettered capitalism.
I am constantly distressed by the ignorance of people I meet who don’t read this blog. That goes for too many teachers, principals, superintendents, union officials, big city mayors, U.S. senators, U.S. Department of Education employees, friends, family, and just about everyone I meet and talk to. It takes three paltry minutes to discover their lack of knowledge about education. People know who Diane Ravitch is, but they don’t do the reading. They don’t do their homework. I doubt Cardona even knows who Charles Koch is. If it’s not being repeated ad nauseum in the corporate echo chamber, Cardona is unlikely to have heard of it.
Another ed reform discussion about public schools that is limited to members of the ed reform echo chamber only:
“Bruno V. Manno is senior adviser to the Walton Family Foundation’s K-12 Program. Walton Family Foundation provides financial support to The 74 and to Tyton Partners.”
Should public schools have some role in the echo chamber’s crusade to “reinvent” public schools, or is that forbidden? How did this total policy capture come about and is there any way we could hear from someone who doesn’t work for an ed reform group and are not funded by the same 5 billionaires?
There’s only one acceptable approach to public schools and it is the ed reform agenda and that may never be questioned or revisited, even after twenty years of lockstep following their directives?
Insanity. Public schools are crazy to go along with it. No private school would ever take direction from people who are ideologically opposed to the existence of private schools- why do public schools have to?

If “education” as practiced, is “enlightenment”,
WHY do so many seem to be in the DARK?
“Insanity. Public schools are crazy to go along with it.”
Hey Joe, where are you with the “don’t slam PE gun”
of your hand?
Done. I also shared this on social media to help spread this message to my fellow teachers and friends.
