Governor Gregg Abbott of Texas is totally opposed to any mandate for masks or vaccinations. He insists that such decisions should be made solely by parents, not by the school or district or state. Major urban districts are defying Governor Abbott’s irresponsible views. The Houston superintendent, Millard House II, imposed a mask mandate, and the city’s teachers unions thanked him.

Millard House II, and other superintendents who are similarly taking actions in the best interest of students, cares about children and the health of his students. It takes character and strong leadership to stand up to a governor’s misguided mandate.

Donald Trump normalized this kind of uninformed, thuggish behavior. Mark Zuckerberg allowed it to flourish. It’s both sad (because they are acting on misinformation) and disgusting – b/c they choose not to discuss but to threaten.

Maybe when voters in Texas and Florida go to the polls, they should vote for someone that believes in science and keeping state residents safe instead of would be dictators that put politics over people.
Good luck, neither DeSantis nor Abbott nor Trump are the problem. The problem is the voters who put them in office. By 2020 75 million Americans still voted for Trump.That is a statement of the abhorrent values of these voters.
