Ms. Tracy, there were Democratic and Republican poll watchers at every polling station. Republicans picked up seats in the House and almost held onto their Senate majority. How would that be the case if the machines were rigged? The Trump DOJ looked into the allegations about rigged voting machines and fake ballots and found them baseless, as did judges in some 60 or so court cases, the overwhelming majority of these judges being Trump appointees. There is absolutely no evidence to support this ridiculous claim and lots to indicate that this was the most secure election in history. And, the Constitution lays out a process. The states certify their election results, not the federal government, and this is just what happened. There is evidence. Non-machine evidence was presented by Rudy Guiliani at his hearings in both affidavits and testimony. Other evidence is presented on the website of Sidney Powell – Defending the Republic She has a wealth of affidavits from experts and others. This evidence has not been presented by the media, so you would have to stretch yourself to find it and read it. Most people would not do that, especially those who are his political opponents. You are taking the word of the media that there was no evidence, but I am sorry to say they were not telling the truth. You would have to go on various s video websites to find Guiliani’s and you would have to go on Powell’s website to find hers. There are also laymen who brought suits and some of them have published their court affidavits. . But there is plenty. None of the evidence was ever considered by the courts. Builiani’s evidence was considered by the state legislators who heard it, and they were duly impressed with it, and wanted something done. Unfortunately, none of this has been publicized. It was unfortunate that there were so many mail in ballots. Mail in ballots is a notorious way of conducting fraud. Mail in ballots have been called “unreliable” by Judge Souter, and by one statesman 20 years ago as the “seeds of political corruption.” That is why they have monitors, not so much for the machines, but for the mail in ballots. The way it is done is for a Republican to sit on one side of the vote counter and a Democrat on the other while the ballot is taken from the envelope. If one of the persons there presents a challenge, the ballot is put aside for later adjudication, but that could not happen here because of the rules that they had to stand a minimum of 10 feet away, so they could not see anything, rendering the whole monitorization process a charade. In some cases in the challenged states, they would not even let them in the door. There is a law that there must be monitors. That law was not followed in all cases in the contested states, and therefore, they acted illegally. Another law that was broken were the change in rules by officials who did not have the legal authority to change them. Biden was said to have received more votes than any candidate in the history of Presidential elections. This itself is simply not credible. He did not campaign; he had clear signs of dementia; he has a history of lying and plagiarizing. He did not have a good reputation. He was a weak candidate against Trump who was very popular, and popularity rises with impeachment proceedings. When Clinton was impeached, his popularity rose because there were many people who believed his impeachment was unfair – that his committing perjury in a legal proceeding concerning his sex life was not sufficient grounds for impeachment, despite the fact that he committed a felony crime. It was the cause of the felony that people believed was insignificant.
The same thing happened to Trump. His popularity rose during the impeachment because people again believed it was unfair. They hired a Special Prosecutor, had 10 Democrat prosecutors working to find some kind of crime, spent 40 million dollars and one year, and could not find one, not even a misdemeanor. Really, the whole things depends upon the views of the people. If you like a candidate, you are willing to overlook some of his warts. If you don’t like him, well, those warts are viewed as repulsive to those who don’t like him.
Did you watch the “hearings” conducted by Giuliani by those who signed his so-called “affidavits”? What a parade of loonies! One of them was visibly drunk, and all made comments so absurd that Ghouliani himself was visibly upset listening to them, shaking his head and often trying to get his own “witnesses” to stop talking. It documents not one but ten examples of criminal obstruction of justice by Moscow’s Agent Governing America (MAGA) and then says that nonetheless, under its interpretation of the law, the DOJ cannot indict a sitting president–that this must be done by Congress or by prosecutors after the criminal has been booted out of office. Right now, Donnie Boy faces literally hundreds of criminal and civil actions, which is why he so desperately wanted to hang onto the office, for the protection that it afforded the Teflon Don v. 2.0. Personal use of charitable funds, more than 20 cases of sexual assault, multiple cases bank and insurance fraud, violation of the emoluments clauses of the Constitution, witness intimidation, and much, much more. He will either have to leave the country for a place that doesn’t have an extradition treaty with the US or go to prison, where he belongs.
And, once again, there is a Constitutionally designated process for certifying elections. This is done by the states. So, for example, Republican states like Georgia certified their results, Trump challenged them, and the challenges were thrown out of court as baseless not once but several times. Trump doesn’t get to just make things up after the fact. I didn’t win, so the election was a fraud. We need to keep revisiting this until I win. Then it wouldn’t be a fraud. THAT is what dictators do, not people who abide by democratic (small “d”) processes.
And, once again, voting processes and machines are carefully tested and monitored by both parties. You really need to educated yourself about this, which doesn’t mean going to Parler and reading other conspiracy theorists on the extreme right wing.
So, somehow, magically, the same proccesses and machines that increased the Republican representation in the House and preserved most of the Republican Senate seats that were being contested magically worked against the Orange Idiot but for those guys. Ridiculous on the face of it.

Many Republican judges wrote excoriating opinions about the baselessness of these claims, and a Republican-majority Supreme Court, with three Trumpy appointees on it, refused to hear the Ghouliani/Trump cases because they had no merits in evidence or the law.

Also, if you read this blog regularly, you will see that most of us are more than willing to criticize anyone, including Biden, or Hilary (whomever), especially where education is concerned. We are not sycophants or cult-followers; we know mistakes occur, and some bias exists in all reporting; but also have watched many news people and outlets for long enough to recognize a genuine interest in truth-telling.
I think that some outlets gave up on “showing both sides of the argument” (that’s what they used to do before Trump came on the scene) without saying what was true or not (fact checking) when they realized that many on the right were just using the Press as mouthpieces for their lies and “talking points.”
We disagree about many things here but, most of the time at least, we are civil with one another. “You are pathetic,” though I might feel that sometimes, doesn’t make it in my book and tends to drive the civility out of otherwise-decent conversations. We commonly ask for and expect citations and references, from lots of different sources and we commonly identify opinion as opinion which is usually in the waiting room, so to speak, where it may or may not be found to be factual.

Actually, I think it’s THE QUESTSION of our time. But my answers include: “Used to be?” Walter Cronkite? And “sometimes”? . . . and “probably everyone at some point, more for some than others (duh).”
But it’s truly democratic . . . isn’t that WHY we all have to pay attention to many journalists and writers, oppositional or not; . . .and isn’t that why a site such as this, tempered with reasonable and (mostly) civilized discourse from many sides, so important to making our own discernments? and isn’t that why TRUTH is so important, and getting to know people who (we find) are fundamentally authentic? and genuine truth-seekers, though certainly not perfect? <–too many in my experience expect ABSOLUTE CERTAINTY, which to me too easily turns into an excuse for neglect of thought and engagement with others.
But for journalists, SELECTION of WHAT to focus on is a necessary part of media doing “mediating.” But also you can go back to the KINDS OF QUESTIONS that underpin their focus and their specific information: Like, for instance, are they saying what is pertinent to an event: WHAT HAPPENED? WHO WAS INVOLVED? WHEN . . . . etc., including as much relevant context they can muster. (The informal rules of logic play in here also.) And then we can spot underlying that are more like “What do I think of it?” Now we are off into another arena, more like op-eds. eds. I happen to like Rachel Maddow’s oft-used method where she gives a rundown and then asks specialist guests to critique her and to further comment. They blast her sometimes . . . and she still runs it. Though I’ve also seen RM make some pretty meaty omissions too.
I think in our own political context, it took awhile for the Press to realize that, with Trump and the like, they HAD to call a lie a lie IN A HURRY to keep it from sticking to the walls of peoples’ minds in true Carl-Rovian fashion.
I do think these are the kinds of questions that are egregiously absent from our more recent blog-visitors and that they should consider asking. Apparently they trusted too much at some point and now are dyed-in-the-wool dogmatist/skeptics. Believe x, but not x, judge, then shout hatefully. <–seems to be their method. But I don’t know. In 1987, Daniel, the United States got a new ambassador from the Soviet Union. This guy, newly arrived in the United States, stopped by Trump Tower and invited Donald on an all-expenses-paid trip to Moscow, which Donald took on a KGB plane.
Donald had been investing very heavily in casinos, including the Trump Taj Mahal. He wasted the three quarters of a billion dollars that his father had given him (Trump consistently called this “a small loan from my father”) on these casinos AND went deeply into debt to banks.
When the first of the loan repayments came due, he had to declare multiple bankruptcies and was on the verge of losing everything due to his stupidity, venality, and incompetence. So, the Russians to the rescue.
Trump took another trip to Moscow, this time with his beauty pageant. And when he returned, suddenly, all these oligarchs close to Putin started showing up to buy Trump condos and other real estate for cash. It was a win-win. They could launder money skimmed off Russian government contracts, and Trump could be saved from the inevitable. Money laundering, of course, is illegal. Around about that time, Donnie Jr. boasted to media about the Trump Organization’s extensive ties to Russian money.
So, when Vlad’s Agent Orange, aka Moscow’s Asset Governing America (MAGA) started to run for president, Putin poured enormous financial and manpower resources into a campaign on social media to discredit his opponent and appeal to Trump voters. This campaign has been exhaustively detailed by US intelligence services and in a report called the REPORTOF THE SELECT COMMITTEE ON INTELLIGENCE, UNITED STATES SENATE,ON RUSSIAN ACTIVE MEASURES CAMPAIGNS AND INTERFERENCE IN THE 2016 U.S. ELECTION. The committee that produced the report was majority Republican and chaired by a Republican.
In the early days of his campaign, Trump brazenly and publicly called on the Russians to hack his opponents’ email, which is itself treasonous. But Russia obliged.
Then, once he was elected, Trump started delivering for his handler in Moscow. he divided the country as it had never been divided since the Civil War. He repeatedly told staff that he wanted to withdraw from NATO, which is Europe’s bulwark against Russian invasion. He reduced US troop strength in Europe. He alienated all of our allies. He was so obsequious and fawning toward Putin that this behavior spawned artwork and memes across the world picturing the two of them as lovers. Trump unilaterially, against the objections of his Secretary of Defense and Joint Chiefs of Staff, announced by tweet at 2:00 in the morning that he was withdrawing troops from Northern Syria, leaving it to the Russians and the Turks and completely abandoning our allies, the Kurds, to be slaughtered. It was they who had done the major fighting against ISIS. Vlad got what he wanted–free reign in Northern Syria, a major Russian strategic objective. Of course, a US ally, Ukraine, was at war with Russia due to a Russian invasion and claim on Ukrainian territory. Trump delayed sending US military aid that had been ordered by Congress and then called the new Ukrainian president and offered a quid pro quo: he would release the aid IF the Ukrainians delivered dirt on Biden and Biden’s son. This he did to an ally at war, and for this treason, Trump was impeached. Trump also withdrew the United States from the The Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty, or INF, with had first been negotiated with Russia by Ronald Reagan. He also withdrew us from the Open Skies Treaty, which allows the US and Russia to fly over one another’s territory to verify from the air compliance with nuclear arms limitation treaties, and he did this at the very time when Russia has fielded hypersonic nuclear missiles capable of reaching the US in minutes.

And then Trump incited an insurrection against the heart of our democracy in which his neo-Nazi thugs sought out the Vice President, the Speaker of the House, and members of Congress with the stated intention of killing them, an insurrection in which they killed a policeman and beat other policemen with poles to which were attached American flags. And they did this all on camera, so the FBI knows who they were–long-term members of various pro-Trump and militia organizations.

And they respond to it because all their power is dependent on their responding rightly to the mood of their audience. They bring out those characteristics in the audience because that is how they conceive of reality. It is not so much what the proof and the facts and the evidence say, but they’re pulled more by what is emotionally compelling to them. And so, all they need to do is communicate that and shape their audience in that direction. And the more vulnerable the population is, the more they will be carried away. In fact, it can also occur in a population at times of socioeconomic or political stress. And when a population has been affected to the degree that it has at this point with the four years of the Trump presidency that the steps toward healing include first to remove the offending agent, who is the influential figure with severe symptoms, and then actually a lot of the symptoms will dissipate.
Secondly, what you do is you regulate some of the thought control mechanisms that are already in place — disinformation being called news. We shouldn’t allow such sources to be called news, and yet they are. And the propaganda that is perpetuated, especially by the right-wing media that do use psychological techniques to draw in the public and to mislead them to wrong beliefs. It’s a system of indoctrination that started with advertising, and now it is pervasive in the media and even in politics. So that would be the second step, to regulate some of those outlets.
And the third would be to fix the socioeconomic conditions that gave rise to a poor state of collective mental health in the first place. And that socioeconomic inequality gives rise to behavioral violence as well as being a form of violence in itself. More excess deaths occur from structural violence, from the inequalities of society, be it economic, racial, or gender inequalities than all the suicides, homicides, and collective violence combined. And so, inequalities are actually deadly, in addition to being the most potent stimulants of behavioral violence.
BILL MOYERS: The inequalities at the end of this pandemic and of Donald Trump’s reign are going to be vast. That does not augur well for our democracy.
BANDY LEE: Our democracy has been eroding in tandem with the rise in inequality. We did a study of 40 countries — low, middle, and high-income countries — over several decades, looking at how their level of democracy affected violent death rates, suicides and homicides. A lot of democracies start out with a lot of violence because we don’t really measure the governmental violence that happened before. But it transfers onto individual violence for a while. And we were hoping that we would see with the democratization of multiple nations that there would be a dissipation of violent death rates. But what we saw was in fact a continuation, especially with the rise in inequality, with the adoption of unequal capitalism with democracy, it seems it cancels out the beneficial aspects of democracy that would prevent violence.
BILL MOYERS: What’s your explanation for how Trump harnessed his anger, and he has plenty of it, and the anger of millions of Americans for his own purpose? . . .

Fact: Executive order dating back to 2018 granted MR Trump authorities to inspect elections for interference (including hacking). The order specified that in this eventuality an nation emergency would be declared.
Supposition: DNI letter to congress was notice of national emergency
General knowledge: During national emergencies the offices of emergency management have sweeping authority.
EO 2021 Mr Trump transferred special forces command to military officer rather than commander in chief.
Reportedly: DOD not sharing ongoing missions of military or special forces.
Theorize: Mr Trump is completely out the equation and we are under a state of national emergency per 2018 EO and DOD is reporting to FEMA not the president. This would be due to the nature of the emergency cause, namely the presidential election due to foreign interference.
Reporting: that a foreign entity interfered in election and state of emergencies stripping president of power over the military is the most plausible explanation. Otherwise DOD officials would be arrested immediately.
To remind you: Trump removed the military officials in charge of the Pentagon last fall and replaced them with political appointees. These political appointees did Trump’s bidding.

A transition team has no legal rights to classified information, we have that thing called National Security which is the whole reason for having classified information (that isn’t anything that Trump put into place). There is a tradition in this country called a “peaceful transition of power.” When a new president is elected, the sitting president extends certain courtesies to the transition team. Each department gives a briefing to the incoming president’s transition team. The Obama administration gave this courtesy to the incoming Trump transition team. Every president has done it, but not Trump because Trump never admitted that he lost the election.
Biden was not asking for something unusual. His team was entitled to learn what was happening. They are now in office and are in full control of all the information that was denied to them. They were not breaching security by expecting the same briefing extended to all previous administrations, including Trump’s.
