The Bidens will bring two dogs, Champ and Major, with them to the White House. And they plan to get a cat as well.
Both of the Biden dogs are German Shepherds. Major, the younger one, was adopted from a shelter in Delaware.
Major, in particular, has a “wags to riches” tail.
He’ll soon be the first dog to go from a shelter to the White House. That shelter, the Delaware Humane Association, plans to “indogurate” Major on Sunday in a virtual ceremony. (People and pets alike are invited to attend.)…
Though Major is digging up new ground as the first shelter pup in the White House, he follows in the pawprints of Yuki, another rescue to reside with the first family.
“He is the friendliest, and the smartest, and the most constant in his attentions of all the dogs that I’ve known,” said Yuki’s owner (and President) Lyndon B. Johnson.
Johnson was fond of singing with the white terrier mix. His daughter picked up Yuki at a gas station in Johnson City, Texas, according to the Presidential Pet Museum.
President Trump is the first president in more than a century not to have a dog. William McKinley had only cats and birds, including a parrot named Washington Post.
Just goes to show: Never trust a man or woman who doesn’t like dogs.
A Trump supporter attacked Biden for “wasting taxpayer dollars” on the Delaware Humane Society’s “Indoguration” fundraiser. But it is not paid for with public funds!
A Parrot in the White House seems risky.
Good one, Flerp!
I see a miniseries in this. GRU Parrot.
Trump had Kellyanne Conway and Kayleigh McEnany (and press secretaries before her) so didn’t need a parrot.
Is anyone curious why the Biden’s named their adopted shepherd Major?
This might be the answer.
Beau Biden served in the United States Army Delaware National Guard from 2002 – 2015 (the year he died of brain cancer) and earned the rank of Major.
I remember the whole controversy that erupted when LBJ held a beagle up by its ears. There was a great debate over the act that this was seen as animal cruelty. I do not think that LBJ intentionally tried to hurt the dog as he was an avid dog lover.
The Biden’s posted a cute holiday dog video to show the differences between Champ and Major. Champ is elderly and calm, and Major is a bundle of energy.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dpd9WA3-rHo
All people who are owned by pets (called, oddly, pet owners) know that they have extraordinarily differing personalities.
For instance, there are distinct differences between yellow labs, black labs, chocolate labs, and meth labs.
Cats would be a better (not the musical or movie version!). They would remind Biden of his human fallibility and keep him grounded. After all, they know who’s boss and it ain’t us!
Dogs love us unconditionally. Cats reserve judgment.
Especially fat cats . . . .
Diane and Robert: LMAO!
You’d never see a cat debase itself like this dog does! 😸

Love that video! Saw it on The Dodo!
My beagle, Beauregarde, knew when it was time for me to come home. And he would be by the door with a sock, waiting to play tug-o’-war, ecstatic to see me.
I’ve had a few people who liked me, over a long lifetime, but none like that beagle.
So Major’s road to the White House was ruff? I hope Major, with his blue collar, is told to speak and not sit. Don’t roll over, Major! After the last twenty years, I know that just because a U.S. president puts you in the dog house or rubs your nose in someone else’s mess, it doesn’t mean you should play dead. Keep the foxes out of the henhouse for us.
Bravo, LCT!
Wait — there’s a Presidential Pet Museum??!😯
My reaction too!
!!!!

I like dogs a whole lot better than white supremacists.
That was a good one.
Agreed, Arthur. And dogs are a LOT smarter.
Curious that dog lovers would set the lowest of bars! Related, I never could figure out terms like, “I wouldn’t treat a dog like…” I would never consider such a remark about cats (because if word got back to them, they’d get me while I slept!).
W.C. Fields who famously worked with dogs and children and joked that,
“A man who hates dogs and children, can’t be all bad.”
The out-going president clearly is the exception to the rule.
I can’t trust anyone who doesn’t love dogs.
Cat owners, on the other hand, are deluded. That cute kitten on its back with the ball of yarn is practicing getting under a larger animal and disembowling it. Feral and outside pet cats have far more than decimated wild bird populations in the US. And if you die in your home and days go by without someone finding you, your cat will . . . well, I’ll spare you.
What a cat wants more than anything in the world is to get high (catnip) and kill things.
I’d call these remarks catty, but not sure you’re worthy of such an epithet! 😹
I shall cling doggedly to my opinion on this.
Dogs always exceed your expectations.
With most humans it’s the opposite.
Even more importantly, never trust a person who doesn’t like people (or at least any person other than himself)
With each dog I’ve lived with in life (I’ve had three), and the stray cat currently making itself at home in my apartment, humans have declined in my esteem. Put another way, once you’ve had a dog, humans are a real disappointment.
On another topic, as long as I’m here: a Trump supporter thinks the “Indoguration” is a waste of money? Trump supporters have a great deal of experience in wasting money, so I hesitantly but nonetheless firmly defer to them in this area. Which isn’t to say I don’t support proceeding with all indoguruaral activities–I do.
