This just appeared in the Washington Post. The Trump campaign continues filing lawsuits. His lawyers should be disbarred for filing multiple frivolous lawsuits.
Federal judge rejects latest effort by Trump allies to overturn election results, saying lawsuit ‘would be risible were its target not so grave’
A federal judge rejected yet another attempt by allies of President Trump to overturn the November election results on Monday, saying the lawsuit “would be risible were its target not so grave” and suggesting he will consider asking for disciplinary action for the lawyers involved.
More than 90 judges have rejected efforts by Trump or his allies to overturn the November vote. In Michigan, the city of Detroit has asked another judge to consider disciplinary action against Sidney Powell, a lawyer who has represented plaintiffs in a number of suits.
The latest suit was filed Dec. 22 by the Amistad Project, a conservative group that had already filed and lost a number of lawsuits targeting the vote in various states. This last-ditch effort was filed against Vice President Pence, both houses of Congress, the leaders of five states and the electoral college — a body that does not exist as a permanent entity — and argued that the Constitution requires that state legislatures alone certify presidential electors. It asked a federal judge in D.C. to stop Congress from certifying President-elect Joe Biden’s victory when it meets to read the electoral college votes on Wednesday.
In a seven-page opinion, District Court Judge James Boasberg rejected the effort, citing a series of fatal flaws with the suit. The plaintiffs, he wrote, had filed in the wrong court, did not have standing to sue and had made no effort to serve their opponents with the suit, a legal requirement to move the process forward.
More importantly, he wrote, “the suit rests on a fundamental and obvious misreading of the Constitution.”
“It would be risible were its target not so grave: the undermining of a democratic election for President of the United States,” he wrote.
He wrote that their central contention — that only state legislatures can certify presidential electors — was “flat out wrong” and would require him to ignore decades of precedent and Supreme Court decisions to overturn a number of state laws.
“Plaintiffs’ theory that all of these laws are unconstitutional and that the Court should instead require state legislatures themselves to certify every Presidential election lies somewhere between a willful misreading of the Constitution and fantasy,” he wrote.
He added, however, that the plaintiffs’ failure to even try to serve the many parties they had sued made it difficult of him to believe the lawsuit was intended to be taken seriously.
“Courts are not instruments through which parties engage in such gamesmanship or symbolic political gestures,” he wrote, adding that he was contemplating referring the case to the court’s Committee on Grievances “for potential discipline of Plaintiffs’ counsel.”
Erick G. Kaardal, the Minneapolis-based lawyer who filed the suit on behalf of the group, did not respond to a request for comment.
If people in high places don’t start doling out punishments, this ridiculous behavior will continue on forever. Someone needs to stand up and say “No! Enough is enough”. The problem is that both sides have done some shady business and slapping the “other side” means exposing those in your own party. It’s always party over people and the people get screwed every single time.
Golly, that is so true. We cannot believe any side. Power and money corrupt absolutely. There is always a deeper hole when you go exploring.
April Featherkile :”We cannot believe any side.” Not true. One side is trying to destroy our democracy. Fortunately, business CEO’s know what is the truth.
…………………………
More than 170 business leaders urged Congress to confirm President-elect Joe Biden’s election victory.
“Attempts to thwart or delay this process run counter to the essential tenets of our democracy,” they said in a statement as Congress prepares to meet on Wednesday to certify the results of the presidential election.
One side you definitely can’t trust or believe is Trump. He is a serial liar and traitor.
I believe in Progressive Democrats and a few Republicans in line with Mitt Romney. The rest?….disappoint me.
One party (GOP) is a radical far far right wing death cult, not even close to the Democrats who are at least a regular type political party. Both siderism white washes the Republicans and makes them more palatable. Both siderism claims that the GOP is just as bad as the Democrats and vice-versa. NOT TRUE by a million miles. Not that the Democrats are angels, far from it, very far but they are not trying to commit treason and overthrow the results of an election while at the same time condoning violence if Trump doesn’t get his way.
You’re right! But who will have the guts to lay down the law and do the right thing? Why won’t someone do something?
On another note. I have always loved Jimmy Carter and thought him to be the kindest and most honest President ever. Everyone should watch the CNN special Jimmy Carter/The Rock and Roll President….talk about a man with integrity and morals. Not a bomb was dropped or a war started during his term. His goal was for a kinder and gentler America for all.
LisaM,
I am a fan of Jimmy Carter, too, but I wasn’t always. When he was president, Carter was hated by progressives and seen as someone trying to destroy all that progressives had accomplished. Similar criticisms that are heard now directed at Nancy Pelosi or “Democrats” were directed at Jimmy Carter.
In fact, Ted Kennedy’s famous “The Dream will Never Die” speech at the 1980 Democratic Convention was all about the promise of progressivism and a clear rebuke to Carter’s policies (Ted Kennedy made an unsuccessful primary challenge from the left). That famous speech included a shout out to national health insurance, which the anti-Carter progressives blamed Carter for not supporting.
Just saying that politics are complicated. I was wrong to be so hard on Jimmy Carter. And many of today’s moderate Democrats are also judged harshly for their compromises.
Good for James Boasberg. On a trivia note, brother of Tom Boasberg, reformer and former superintendent of Denver Public Schools. Childhood neighbors of Jonah Edelman of tons of fun organization Stand for Children.
So, Trump has reached the Joseph Stalin stage of his delusional narcissism. As you will remember, Stalin required constant praise from subordinates and put them to death if they didn’t deliver. And near the end of his regime, no one would stand to be around him at all because they feared him so much. They could die for such small offenses as smiling at the wrong time or speaking more than a minute or two at an event and thus stealing the limelight from the man/beast.
Trump has no editor. Recently, at a rally, he told the people of Erie, Pennsylvania, that he wouldn’t have come to such a godawful place if he didn’t have to because of his poll numbers. Tonight, in Dalton, Georgia, he said right out that he doesn’t like doing rallies for other people but was making an exception. Because, of course, if it’s not about Trump, it’s of no interest to him, and he thinks that everyone works that way, as he does, and won’t find this an odd tell of a pathology.
In the past, at his rallies, Trump the malignant narcissist has made nasty comments when he invited people to come up and speak if they said more than a very few words. Clearly, this sets him off. And tonight, Loeffler and some female Georgia representative (I don’t remember the name), whom Trump invited to talk showed that they had learned this lesson. Perhaps their handlers gave them a heads up. Perhaps they learned from previous personal experience. They were both clearly nervous and said only a word or two and made sure to praise Trump to the high heavens. When his own daughter, Ivanka, spoke, same thing. She knows Daddy all too well. She made sure to speak only for about a minute and to turn most of that into a Daddy praise fest. And as she praised him, Trump, as he does, puffed out his chest and raised his chin and turned his face slowly from side to side, displaying his magnificence to the crowd, as though he were “world’s best genuine cubic zirconium timepiece” being displayed for rubes on QVC.
The same thing happens at Trump’s cabinet meetings. All the cabinet members know that when it’s their turn to talk, they have to praise Trump for several minutes and then slip in, quickly, whatever else it was they wanted to say. Mike Pence has this groveling down to an embarrassing science. Perhaps the Lord of the Flies sits on his artificially whitened hair and whispers just the right grovelings into his ear.
And this is why I watch these things. For the finer points of the dark, sick comedy of it all.
as though he were “world’s best genuine cubic zirconium timepiece” being displayed for rubes on QVC
That’s too good!
Thanks, Ted
But, alas, there should have been commas before and after “for rubes,” to clarify what “on QVC” modifies. I so wish that there were on WordPress a function allowing one to edit comments on posts.
Trump’s mostardent supporters, who believe all, no matter what……..are very lucky the nation has not only the democrats but enough genuine republicans to make sure this election of Biden is not overturned. If that were not the case……….a lot of these nut-case Trump worshipers would not only have their brains blown out, but that of their spouses and children.
This nonsense could not be done, without resulting in widespread violence….for both sides. The second amendment is not limited to protecting and advancing what right wingers think we need.

ANNOUNCER: Ladies and Gentlemen, the President of the United States.
JABBA THE TRUMP: Good evening, GEEOR-JUH! So here we are. What’s this place? Dalton, right? Dalton, Geeorjuh. You gotta be kidding, right? What the heck am I doing here? They said to me, ‘Sir. You have to go to Dalton, Geeorjuh.”
“No way, I said.”
“But, Sir, they said, if you don’t go, the Republicans down there, they lose.” Pitiful, am I right? But it’s true. It’s true. Carpets, right? You make carpets here in Dalton, Geeorjuh. So, here I am. And I’m not even on the ticket. Not something I want to do, believe me. But they need me. Repuiblicans, without me, they never win another election.
So, we love the great state of Geeorjuh. I had this guy, Jeff Sessions. Wanted to be Attorney General. He was from Geeorgia or someplace in the South. I know. Hayseeds, right? A long way from New York, I’m telling you. Terrible Worst Attorney General ever. Worse than Barr, even. Couldn’t do the most simple thing I asked him. Send in the military. Trump’s military. Get the Communist Democrats, Antifa, the News Media. Look them back there. The Media. What a joke, right? Just wait. Tomorrow, they’ll say, he attacked the media. So, Sessions. Wouldn’t fire Mueller during the fake Russia investigation. So, I said, Jeff, you’re fired. And then he tried to run for office. And he lost. Lost terribly. That’s what happens. Trump’s not behind you, you lose.
Because I’m a winner. Won this election you wouldn’t believe how much—millions and millions of votes. But they got dead people voting. Illegals. Democrats. Can you believe that? They’re allowing Democrats to vote. Crazy, right? 11,000 votes. That’s all I needed. It’s Tuesday night. I’m well ahead. Ahead everywhere. And then at the last minute they bring in all these boxes and boxes of votes—millions of them—all Biden. By dead people and Democrats. Biden. I know. The worst. He’ll take your jobs. Your cows. He wants the country to be Venezuela. Terrible. But that’s the radical Democrat Communist agenda, folks. I was saying to Ivanka—where is Ivanka? Ivanka, come up here and say something.
IVANKA: Hello, Georgia. I’m not going to say very much because Daddy would get mad, but thank you. Thank you for coming out tonight and showing that you want to draw the line in the sand. That you are going to support David Perdue and Kelly Loofa because the president has their backs. The greatest president in the history of our country, my father, Guardian of the Galaxy.
JABBA THE TRUMP: Thank you, Ivanka. Nice legs on her, huh? I always say, if she weren’t my daughter, I’d be dating her. So, they’re trying to steal the election. Rename your military bases where so many heroes fought and died, named after great hero slave owners and rebels against your country. You got, what? Fort Benning. I don’t know. Maybe they could call it Fort Trump. I’d be OK with that.
But we won. We won by a lot. They call me up and they say, Sir, I can’t believe how their trying to steal it from you. It’s a statistical impossibility. Biden got more votes than there were people in the whole history of the country. Cause they got these machines. Need votes? Just print them up. Millions and millions of votes. Oh, this is a vote for TRUMP? Throw that one out.
The two worst events in the history of our country. First the fake Russia investigation. Then they try to steal the election. I don’t know. Not since the Continental Army had to fight off the Chinese Communist invasion was it so bad. Touch and go. Touch and go. That’s how it will be for Republicans if the Supremes—I’m not very happy with them right now—don’t step up and fix this thing. You know, I flew down here on a great helicopter—Marine One—great helicopter. Not like the Trump helicopter. Not by a long shot. But great. Like those stealth planes. Since I rebuilt the military. Terrible it was in terrible shape, and I rebuilt it. They got these stealth planes, they’re actually invisible. You could be standing right next to it, and they would say, what do you think of the plane? And you would say, What plane? Because you couldn’t see it. Incredible. Incredible. So, I flew down on Military One. And it’s like touch and go. Touch and go. Like my connection to reality.
But you’ll see. We won the election. We’re still going to win. Just wait. You’ll see. Big things happening. And any Senator goes against me, like your Governor here in Georgia, I’ll be campaigning against them. I can promise you that. You’re done. Finished.
OK. Well, that’s about it. Just wait and see the next couple days. You’ll see. Going to be wild out there. Good night, Geeorgia. Now, get me the hell out of here.

FUN FACT OF THE DAY: No, Trump didn’t continually use the made-up word “bigly.” This was him saying “big league” with his New York accent, in his Toddler English.
Scotland can have him. I’d prefer that he escape to N. Korea or Russia. [This comes from Fox?]

Over the weekend, reports in Scotland noted some weird U.S. military activity happening at the airport nearest President Donald Trump’s flagship Scottish golf resort. According to the Sunday Post, surveillance aircraft have been spotted over Trump Turnberry, and a Boeing 757 previously used by the president is scheduled to land at Prestwick Airport on Jan. 19—a day before Joe Biden’s inauguration. Now, with rumors of Trump’s flight gaining traction, the White House has issued a statement. Judd Deere, deputy White House press secretary, downplayed the prospect of Trump’s trip to Scotland—but, interestingly, didn’t deny it. Deere told Fox News: “Anonymous sources who claim to know what the president is or is not considering have no idea. When President Trump has an announcement about his plans for Jan. 20., he will let you know.”

I doubt Scotland wants Trump. They protested for months when Trump decided to build a golf course. They have his number, and they don’t like frauds and con artists.https://www.npr.org/2018/07/14/629087169/thousands-turn-out-to-protest-against-president-trump-in-scotland
More garbage.
Trump wanted Raffensperger to “do his job and honestly count the votes in Georgia’s Election.” The previous audits of votes were conducted by individuals not willing to expose voter fraud.

A leaked phone call with Donald Trump has all hell breaking loose
Donald Trump is finding out he has even more enemies than he previously thought.
The timing could not be worse.
And this leaked phone call with Donald Trump has all hell breaking loose.
48-hours before the crucial Georgia Senate runoffs take place, the Peach State’s disloyal and underhanded Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger tossed a stink bomb into the race by releasing the secret audio tape of a phone call President Trump made to him asking Raffensperger to do his job and honestly count the votes in Georgia’s Presidential Election.
“So look. All I want to do is this. I just want to find 11,780 votes, which is one more than we have. Because we won the state,” President Trump explained to Raffensperger.
The President told Raffensperger that previous audits of the Georgia vote were conducted by individuals not willing to expose voter fraud.
“So tell me, Brad, what are we going to do?” the President continued. “We won the election, and it’s not fair to take it away from us like this. And it’s going to be very costly in many ways. And I think you have to say that you’re going to reexamine it, and you can reexamine it, but reexamine it with people that want to find answers, not people that don’t want to find answers.”
Trump supporters could not believe that Raffensperger not only secretly recorded the President, but also released the recording before the runoff elections.
Georgia’s Republican Senator David Perdue blasted Raffensperger’s move as “disgusting.”
Raffensperger is up for re-election in 2022, but after this disgraceful stunt, a pro-Trump primary challenger would rout him and there is a strong likelihood that Raffensperger may not even run for re-election at all.
Renewed Right will keep you up-to-date on any new developments in this ongoing story.
Well the Doofus went down to Georgia
He was lookin’ for an election to steal
He was in a bind ’cause he was way behind
And he looked like he lost a wheel
