Steve Ruis reminds us that Trump refused to participate in transition planning when he was elected and is now undermining the Biden transition. Chris Christie was in charge of Trump’s transition, prepared a voluminous briefing book, and Trump’s people threw it out. They were so convinced that the government was useless and inept that they didn’t want to know what was done or what was needed. They just knew it all.
Ruis writes:
People are noticing that the Trump official who is required by law to sign a document that releases the funds set aside for making the transition to a new president’s administration is refusing to sign that document. Oh my gosh, commenters ask, will Trump sabotage the transition?
If you weren’t paying attention, he already did.
When Mr. Trump was elected, the Obama administration spent millions of dollars preparing for the transition to Mr. Trump’s administration. Briefing books were prepared. Interviews were scheduled. Briefings were put on the calendar.
Whole books have been written on what actually happened. Trump officials didn’t show up for briefings. Others dumped the transition manuals. Other appointees were so incompetent, they didn’t bother to look up what the mandate of their department was. (Yes, I am talking about you Rick Perry.)
In some cases, when nobody from Trump showed up to be briefed and to take over, chaos ensued. Political appointees were not able to just stay on until their replacement showed up. They were required, by law, to pack their things and leave. Key employees who saw the writing on the wall used the “opportunity” to find other employment.
Emily W. Murphy is the Trumper at General Services Administration who refuses to allow transition planning for the Biden administration to move forward.
Call her.
This morning talking with Andrea Mitchell, John Podesto said Ms. Murphy should sign and then resign . . . in consideration of the Oath she took. CBK
Amen
Some objected, here, when I said that if I could describe Trump in one word, it would be this: he is a vandal.
But I stick by that. Anything he touches, he breaks.
Trump just fired his Secretary of Defense on Twitter. He doesn’t have the courage to fire a person face=to=face.
By refusing to allow Trump to use the military against protesting citizens, Mark Esper joined my list of heroes. This was an incredibly courageous and principled act.
This this the action of a traitorous criminal who is planning on staging a coup?
This is criminal but then what else would you expect from a demagogue gangster like Trump and all his obedient lap dogs in government and the media. Even when Biden finally takes power, he will be blocked at every opportunity by the GOP and especially Mitch McConnell. Biden is a seasoned politician of decades and knows the Senate inside out, maybe he can outmaneuver the GOP demons?
Biden is smart and will be ok. 😁
I do not do phone calls or I would add to a barrage of these. Murphy works for us. She should know the law and not be just another loyalist to Trump who is willing to violate the law of the land…
So I tried to find a path to the citizens comment option for the GSA. I could go that route, but only if I have a Google Account. It is hard to resist the massive profiling people done by Google. I will not add to their profile on me.
Once Donald Trump, the cheating, crooked, corrupt dictator of dirt and sleaze, has been carted out of the White House on January 20, 2021, strapped to a gurney with a mask over his face so no one can hear his lies and threats, Biden must launch an investigation to discover all the fraud and corruption committed by the Trump administration and give that job to Robert Mueller with a mandate to not only find evidence of crimes but to proceed to court and seek guilty verdicts that come with fines and prison sentences for everyone all the way to DT.
Since Mueller already made it clear that his Russia investigation did find evidence of repeated obstruction of justice by Trump, that investigation should start out by going to court first for those crimes and continue to add more court cases for new crimes as the evidence is discovered.
Mueller failed in his big assignment. His aide wrote a book saying that Mueller refused to defy the Trump goons. They said no when he asked for Trump’s taxes, and he accepted it. He didn’t pursue the major issues. He is old and tired.
The link with her number doesn’t work:(
Are we surprised? I guess she got lots of phone calls. 🙂
By refusing to allow Trump to use the military against protesting citizens, Mark Esper joined my list of heroes. This was an incredibly courageous and principled act. Trump, too cowardly to do this in person, just fired Esper by tweet. Is this traitorous criminal, Trump, planning a coup d’état?
If I remember correctly, one of those books was “The Pandemic Playbook”. We’re so glad he ignored that one because his plan has been so much better, just let people die and then blame Obama.
We need to adopt a new philosophy, as soon as the election of Biden becomes official official, then we need to cease any all mention of czar donnie the 1st. He is just trying to stay in the news. If everyone ignores him then he fails yet again.
People will discuss Ugh! forever. ☹️
The fewer the better
You are right eddie, whether we like it or not, Trump has entered the history books (of the future). He is/ was a POTUS along with the other “44” (actually 43) presidents from the magnificent to the deplorable to the nonentities. Not too much mention of Millard Fillmore these days. I try as much as possible to ignore Trump and I certainly don’t follow his tweet storms but the guy still has access to the nuclear codes and he’s out to kill off our democracy. Hard to ignore.
Trump has the authority to order a nuclear strike, but luckily , it’s more involved than just pushing a button and even if Trump gave the order, unless it looked like he was doing it for a legitimate reason, the order would most likely not be carried out. That would require that many people in the chain of command were effectively nuts.
I suspect that there are many people in the military who are currently on heightened alert for any such bogus order and would not go along with it.
It’s possible that they would, but not very probable.
Donald Trump = Andrew Johnson 2 ☹️
We have a child, Trump by name, in charge of the United States Government. Trump has an unruly mob of gangsters who only answer to him instead of the people of the United States. All these immature individuals are not ashamed of the damage they are doing to this nation. They are a cancerous sore on the heart, soul and the democracy upon which this great nation was founded and built. It is festering sore that can only be healed when Trump and rest of his mob are no longer working in any position in our government.
Good evening, and welcome to The News, with our anchor, Bob Shepherd.
BOB SHEPHERD: Thank you. This just in. Melania and Jared urge Trump to concede, but he its bats–t crazy.
cx: he is
But “he is/it is” works.
Anything to the rumor that Trump’s legal machinations are designed to delay the final declaration of who’s President into the House where Republicans hold a delegate advantage and would re-elect Trump?
Darrell,
That has been Republican strategy from the beginning. Deadlock the election results, send it to the House of Representatives, where each state delegation gets one vote. There are 26 Republican states, 24 Democratic states. Another way to steal the election. So long as Biden has more than 270 electoral votes, it won’t happen.
Thank you, Diane.
Love Ruis’ “smaller government through random amputations.”
I read a summary of the Obama-Trump “transition” in a recent MSM opinion column. The writer predicted this transition would be similar, but not a particular problem, as the Biden team has arguably the most Oval Office/ West Wing experience of any incoming team ever… The article echoed a sentiment I’ve read often in MSM (and here) lately: we can relax now. At least these people know what they’re doing.
Michael Lewis’ “The Fifth Risk” talks all about how some departments tried to handle the transition phase and the lessons learned. very informative little book.
I tried to call her and got a long series of menu options with none for her. Ideas on how to get through?
I think that rather than calling her (which is likely to accomplish nothing, even if one can get through) it makes more sense simply to black list this woman so that she can’t get a job down the road at any place other than Fox News.
Also perhaps write to the President of Smith College and ask why the top rated liberal arts college in the country is turning out nitwits.
Make these people pay a significant personal price for their actions and perhaps others will think twice in the future.
“a top rated college”, not “the”
Seriously!? You are advocating that we all call Smith because one of their graduates is a Trumpista?! I am sure we can find “nitwits” who have graduated from every college in the country. I suspect/hope that was frustration talking. It would be nice to always have someone to blame or in Trump’s case someone else to blame.
The Season has Changed
Time to change the record
Trump is on the lawn
Biden’s not the wrecker
But Trump has come and gone
Richard Pilger, head of the Election Crimes Branch of the Department of Justice, just resigned rather than take part in the farcical Trump-ordered election fraud charade. Pilger wrote, “Having familiarized myself with the new policy and its ramifications [the death of Democracy?], and in accord with the best radition of the John C. Keeney Award for Exceptional Integrity and Professionalism (my most cherished Departmental recognition), I must regretfully resign from my role as Director of the Election Crimes Branch. . . . I have enjoyed very much working with you for over a decade to aggressively and diligently enforce federal criminal election law, policy, and practice without partisan favor.”
Like Esper, who refused to use the military to attack Moms in yellow shirts protesting Trump’s racism, Richard Pilger just became one of my heroes.
