attendance is full, however my question is as follows. How will teachers know whether students will be retained in a grade level, moved ahead with a D- if they are learning slower? How will teachers know whether students are learning up to level when they return? te
I was trying to learn if st. Louis refers to at least some of its charters as choice schools….Stem is good, even if it is connected to Gulen in some mysterious way. And, charters are charter schools……oh yeah? Note this. Gateway Science Academy of St. Louis

Gateway Science Academy St. Louis – Elementary School by …

Gateway Science Academy St. Louis Elementary is managed by Concept Schools. Concept Schools is a nonprofit charter management organization that provides a high-quality, STEM-focused and college-preparatory education through a network of charter schools while offering exceptional programs, comprehensive services, and opportunities to partner in education.
The point I am trying to make…..slps has something called choice schools…..and hopefully that is because there are things which are good about them. I tried to point out, that the stem group…..a very good group of schools, is managed by concept schools….. their history includes connections to Gulen, and having 19 subpoenas served by the fbi in 2014. (I don’t think any were served in St. Louis)……Concept-managed schools are located in urban areas in Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Missouri. Out of 9500 students, 82% are minority and 81% come from economically disadvantaged families. 8% of the students have special education services and 5% are English language learners. those are good stats…..if you got to the slps web site, you will find this charter school listed among the choice schools……I wonder what state the non choice charters are in….another one was ordered closed by the state this week.
Gateway STEM High School is an SLPS school.
Gateway Science Academy is a charter school.
Since this event is at full capacity, will you be posting a link to it for us to watch later? Thank you! Joan

Thanks for clearing up how gateway science is a charter, and gateway stem is not. Is either under the management of concept.
To Diane….Maybe my general question would be practical….the word choice seems more and more like an invention of the privatization people..perhaps I am wrong….I would appreciate yours or Randi’s help in understanding…..

This article is the first piece in a four-part series that examines the modern school choice movement in America. School choice is often a politically divisive topic that leaves many education reformers conflicted. On one end, school choice may be the answer for many families who feel their children are being deprived of a quality education. On the other end, it may prove to be a public resource drain that is contributing to the privatization of education. School choice may be able to provide a more immediate solution to educational disparities, but has the potential to create devastating long term consequences without sufficient accountability measures and equitable funding policies.

Will this be recorded and available? The attendance limit has been reached, but the information is really critical!
