What began as “Grab and Go” locations to feed students has turned into free meal dispensaries for all who are in need of food.
The city Department of Education’s 435 meal hubs for children will be expanded to serve adult New Yorkers with grab-and-go meals, meaning anyone in need of food can access it at one of the locations. Children and families can pick up meals 7:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Adults with no children are asked to go to one of the hubs from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.
During the Great Depression, there were soup kitchens. Now there are “grab and go” hubs for the hungry. With millions suddenly out of work, it becomes our obligation as a society to ensure that no one suffers because of hunger and no one is denied healthcare because of inability to pay.

Thank you, public schools! Doing the same here in Jax—except not the charter schools.

Free meals to ALL began as grab and go meals to public school children in New York.
Rightly the policy is no longer limited to children.
But, where the policy is limited to feeding only children, imagine how children must feel eating when their parents have nothing to eat.
Not feeding ALL is not right during this National Emergency.
After all, children are asked to pledge at school to a flag that represents “one Nation indivisible…

Wisconsin, meanwhile, plans to endanger its citizens by proceeding with its primary this week, even in light of the utter fiascos in Illinois, Florida and Arizona a couple weeks ago. https://jacobinmag.com/2020/04/wisconsin-democratic-primary-voters-pandemic-biden-tony-evers
While Trump has been an unmitigated disaster, it’s getting harder for Democrats to continue to point fingers when they encourage this kind of dangerous foolishness. Bernie, incidentally, is one of very few Democrats who has openly and consistently criticized the wisdom of continuing with primary elections at this time. He was roundly mocked by Biden and the DNC.

And while NYC is feeding people that might not have food, Trumpty Dumpty fired the Inspector General that would have been in charge of making sure the $2 trillion designed to keep the economy afloat and announced he will appoint someone on his White House Staff to do the job instead.
Trump surrounds himself with loyalists (also known as brown nosers, ass kissers, and minions) who are loyal to him and no one or nothing else. He even forces them to sign nondisclosure agreements.
If Trump gets his civil war to stay in power (how many times has he tweeted or mentioned this?), that civil war will be between his loyalists and the patriots that will be fighting to defend the U.S. Constitution.
Patriots take an Oath to defend the US Constitution against both domestic and foreign enemies. This Oath is part of the Constitution. Geroge Washington was the first president to take this Oath.
Loyalists sign an Oath to by loyal to Trump or else …
The Oath in the Constitution should void any nondisclosure agreements of loyalty to Trump.
Will the Republicans in the Senate stop what Trump is doing? I do not think so.
Will the US Supreme Court with five conservative justices rule against Trump if a case reaches them? I do not think so. It also doesn’t help that many courts are now closed due to the pandemic so how could a case reach the Supreme Court if there is no lower court to file the case in?

This is a time when we will be reminded, hourly, of how fragile everything is. Don’t let the things you’ve meant to say go unsaid. In far too many cases, there won’t be an opportunity for this later.
And thank you to these heroes.

Are New Yorkers considered to be “real Americans” yet? This is a great example of why I become a rabid dog when someone tries to lecture me about “real Americans.” Wonderful news.
