I don’t know about you but my inbox is crowded with humorous videos of all kinds. Some are too raunchy to post. Some make fun of the toilet paper shortage and what it means. Some poke fun at our nation’s leaders.
There is nothing funny about a pandemic, but somehow humor pops up as people seek relief from social isolation.
This video was sent to me by my brother in Florida, who got it from…who knows. It’s all over Twitter and other social media.
Trump vs. God on Easter Sunday.
The creator of the video is credited, and apparently it has had millions of views.
Please note that Donald Trump called on Americans to crowd the pews of their churches on Easter Sunday, which he designated as the day when the economy would restart.
However, after his medical team told him that the coronavirus was not under control and that it might produce hundreds of thousands of deaths, he changed his mind and declared that the nation should not resume normal activities until at least the end of April.
We will learn on Easter Sunday whether his avid followers learned of his change of views.

Would really be diseaster

North Carolina storyteller, Donald Davis, once said, “If there’s no humor in it, it can’t be serious.” In times of trouble there are health benefits to smiling and laughing to ease the strain and stress. That’s why people usually share something humorous about the deceased at a funeral. We laugh to comfort us and get us through the situation at hand.

“A holiday they call Easter. A lot of people don’t know that. But they call it Easter.”
It’s wonderful that this comedian picked up on that Trump tic. He says this all the time, and here’s what’s going on. Trump is, as we have all seen, PROFOUNDLY IGNORANT about ALMOST EVERYTHING. And when someone explains to him what happened on Pearl Harbor Day or that Belgium is not a city or something else that people with normal cognitive functioning know, to him it is a revelation, and he assumes that everyone else is as ignorant about it as he was.
Trump has, for example, said that “a lot of people don’t know” that Abe Lincoln was a Republican and that “Nobody knew that healthcare was so complicated.”
No, Donald. Very few are as ignorant as you are. In this respect, you truly are the exceptional guy you think you are.

A pastor of a mega church was recently arrested for ignoring the social distancing order. He believes in healing by “laying hands.”https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2020/03/31/coronavirus-florida-megachurch-pastor-arrested-church-amid-orders/5093160002/

A great amount of religious teaching e.g. “laying hands” is controversial.
The readiness of a couple of Christian sects to embrace, “we are all sinners”, provides example. The differing opinion that follows is from a Church of Christ sermon, “In the 42 verses where the word sinner appears only one could possibly be construed to be referring to a Christian in his present state (1 Timothy 1:15). This is the verse most cited by those constantly talking about what sinners they and other Christians are implying that those who do not join them in self abasement are prideful …”

Not sure of your point here.
“Laying on of hands” is not precisely controversial, it’s part of virtually every Christian sect, but it has been so codified into ritual sacraments that’s it’s more or less invisible/ unknown to mainstream Christians. Laying on of hands in lieu of traditional medicine verboten to congregants is certainly controversial, & prevalent only as far as I know among Christian Scientists & fringe-fundamentalist Mormons. The practice cited in this [fundamentalist-Prot] “megachurch” is more like layering faith-healing on top of tradl medicine– & this guy [pastor] stretching it to function as inoculation against untreatable virus.
Nevertheless, “We are all sinners” is virtually universally accepted as a Christian tenet, not some position embraced by “a couple of sects.” There are vast differences among sects on how sin is defined, how often humans are in a state of sin, how it may be expiated & how often that’s required. Quoting a Church of Christ sermon as tho a corrective to supposedly-outlandish beliefs doesn’t cut it, unless you’re an “originalist” [like some SCOTUS members re: Constitution], & they’re hardly representative [0.06 of US Christians]. And anyway just cuz “some sects” fraudulently twist Biblical text to make QVC addicts feel good about themselves is irrelevant.
As usual, broad-brushing from cherry-picked anecdotal data. There are bad guys making $ off of suckers in all fields of endeavor, & most do it by perverting a position of trust/ power.

“Doomed”
Evidence- one of the religious sects that admonishes “sinners all” in order to message against pride, and for humility, has congregants who buy jewelry and home decor that boasts they are, “blessed”

We just received a postcard from one of our areas mega-churches (we are not members) inviting us to their Easter festivities, starting with a Good Friday evening service and including activities such as egg hunts continuing on Saturday & Sunday. Our city leaders did issue a shelter-in-place order. Seems like some are still going with our vain leader’s original message. It seems so irresponsible, and not at all Christian to me to put your community at increased risk.

Dear Don,
Practice social distancing. Stay home. Protect yourself and your family.
I commented the other day that a choir in a community near Seattle gathered for rehearsal. Of 60 members there, 45 got the virus and two died.

So agree, & “megachurch” defiance of state-issued orders & commonsense self-preservation make one suspect said church is swayed by politics over religion, & if so, they seem to have a conflict over who is “Caesar” [as in render unto…]. Hopefully– as apparently they have accepted Trump as their religious leader– they’ll reconsider in light of 45’s extension of social distancing past that season.
