Robin Cogan, MEd, RN, NCSN is a Nationally Certified School Nurse (NCSN), currently in her 19th year as a New Jersey school nurse in the Camden City School District. Please remember that you can be shedding virus like crazy long before you show any symptoms. STAY AWAY FROM YOUR ELDERLY. If they need something, drop it at their door. Use remote communication–Skype, text, etc.
Following this advice can be, literally, a matter of life or death.
The virus lasts on many surfaces for 3 to 4 DAYS. Credit card readers, touch screens, gas pump handles, cardboard boxes and plastic containers and paper-covered cans in the grocery. Use gloves. Afterward, immediately wash and sanitize. DO NOT TOUCH YOUR FACE with your hands.
