Three things to mull this morning:
Senate Republicans will acquit Trumpthis afternoon of charges that he abused the power of the presidency. Democrats cringe at the word “acquit” because, they say, the Senate didn’t actually hold a real trial since the GOP refused to call witnesses or hear new evidence.
Trump held a fact-challenged, divisive MAGA rally-meets-reality-TV last night in place of his State of the Union speech, with Republicans shouting “four more years” as though they were at an evangelical tent revival.
Trump gave the nation’s highest civilian award — bestowed in the past to people like Mother Teresa and Rosa Parks — to a guy whose racist and misogynistic rants on TV and talk radio have made him a darling of the right. And Trump brazenly did it in the people’s house.
So where to begin? The acquittal has been a foregone conclusion for months, so let’s move on to his MAGA rally. You knew the impeached Trump was going to be aggressively defiant as soon as he refused to shake the hand of Nancy Pelosi, speaker of the House and second in line to the presidency.
News organizations’ fact-checkers say his subsequent speech was replete with misinformation and lies, many designed to portray himself as the best president in history. And his continued obsession with bettering Barack Obama is really sad. A few corrections:
Trump: “I am thrilled to report to you tonight that our economy is the best it has ever been.”
Truth: Sorry, bucko, it’s not. Trump’s annual economic growth rate hasn’t yet surpassed 3 percent, but there have been many, many years in the recent past when GDP grew more than that, including 1950, 1951, 1962, 1963, 1964, 1965, 1966, 1997, 1998, 1999 — well, you get the idea. The 3.5 percent unemployment rate is not the lowest in history; for example, it was 2.5 percent in 1953.
Trump: “Since my election, we have created 7 million new jobs.”
Truth: It’s actually 6.7 million jobs since he took office, but who’s counting? (Certainly not Trump.) In the last three years of the Obama administration, more than 8 million jobs were created.
Trump: “Thanks to our bold regulatory reduction campaign, the United States has become the number one producer of oil and natural gas anywhere in the world.”
Truth: The US became the world’s top energy producer under Obama in 2012.
Trump: “From the instant I took office, I moved rapidly to revive the U.S. economy … enacting historic and record-setting tax cuts.”
Truth: Trump’s tax cuts for the wealthy and corporations were not the largest in history; they were only the eighth-largest in the past century.
Trump: “This is a blue-collar boom.”
Truth: Manufacturing is officially in a recession, and job growth in transportation, construction, and mining has dropped. Oops!
Trump: “Everybody said that criminal justice reform couldn’t be done, but I got it done and the people in this room got it done.”
Truth: I guess he’s hearing voices again, because actually, nobody said that reform couldn’t get done, given that Obama kicked off the effort when he signed the Fair Sentencing Act in August 2010. That repealed the five-year mandatory sentence for first-time offenders and reduced the disparity between the sentences given to those who used powder cocaine (mostly white people) and the much harsher penalties for those who used crack cocaine (mostly Black people).
Trump’s First Step Act builds on that, shortening mandatory minimum sentences for nonviolent drug offenses and easing the federal “three strikes” rule. However, in his 2020 budget, Trump proposed just $14 million for the act, when the law calls for $75 million.
Okay, I’m done. And exhausted trying to keep up with his mendacious word salads. A disgusted Pelosi ripped up the speech at the end in full view of TV cameras, later saying that Trump “shredded the truth, so I shredded his speech.”
You can read more fact-checking by AP in the Globe, by CNN, by NBC, and by The Washington Post.
Trump’s reality TV showmanship was on full display when he announced that a young girl in the gallery was going to get a coveted school scholarship and reunited a soldier with his family.
But it was his awarding of the Presidential Medal of Freedom to conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh that caused the most uproar. (A smiling and clapping first lady Melania placed the medal around Limbaugh’s neck as Republicans cheered in approval.)
Limbaugh, a cigar smoker, announced the other day that he had advanced lung cancer, years after he repeatedly pooh-poohed the connection between tobacco and cancer, blaming the anti-tobacco “hysteria” on leftwing loons who were part of an anti-corporate conspiracy — similar to what he says today about climate change. Look, nobody wishes such a terrible diagnosis on anyone, and we hope he has either a full recovery or can be made as comfortable as possible if the disease progresses.
But cancer does not erase a lifetime of vile, vulgar, hateful speech.
As much as I dislike repeating any of his comments here, it’s important to know the type of person Trump values.
Limbaugh once told a Black female caller to “Take that bone out of your nose and call me back.” He called Obama a “halfrican American” and liked to play a song on his radio show called “Barack the Magic Negro.” He called for segregated buses when Obama became president, and called Mexicans “stupid and unskilled.”
He said that when a gay person “turns his back on you, it is anything but an insult; it’s an invitation.”
After Michael J. Fox announced he had Parkinson’s disease, Limbaugh claimed the actor, who generally supports Democratic causes, was exaggerating the effects of the disease. “He’s moving all around and shaking and it’s purely an act … This is really shameless … Either he didn’t take his medication or he’s acting.”
When Sandra Fluke, a law student at Georgetown, testified before Congress in favor of mandatory insurance coverage for contraceptives, Limbaugh called her a “slut” and a “prostitute.”
During the Clinton administration, he displayed a photo of 13-year-old Chelsea and called her “a dog.” (Remember the faux outrage from Republicans when an impeachment witness merely mentioned the name of Trump’s son Barron to illustrate the limits of presidential power?)
I wonder how all of the Black and Latino guests Trump publicly praised last night felt when he gave Limbaugh this nation’s highest honor.
Finally, my favorite tweet of today so far, from The Volatile Mermaid (@OhNoSheTwitnt):
Things that offend Democrats:
– treason
– racism
– misogyny
– bragging about sexual assault
– homophobia
Things that offend Republicans:
– Tearing a piece of paper
– Speaking out about climate change
– Saying Barron Trump’s name
– Black people voting
– Rainbows
Diane nailed it in her comment on this. Serial predator Jabba the Trump just gave the nation’s highest civilian honor to the man who coined the term “Feminazi.”
And bully-fighting Melania Trump personally awarded the medal to the man who publicly called a 12 year old girl a “dog”.
I guess what Melania Trump means by anti-bullying is: “hands off my kids, but if you say truly nasty things about other people’s 12 year old kids I’ll give you a medal”.
As Jimmy Kimmel pointed out, Limbaugh, who among other things repeatedly played a song entitled “Barack the Magic Negro” during Obama’s Presidency, got his award on the day designated as “Rosa Parks Day,” in honor of her birthday. But you know, par for the course for this party which is interested only in defacing and soiling any of our institutions or cultural icons that don’t explicitly stand for white supremacy.
Trump is a traitorous liar. He’s disgusting to put it lightly. 🤮🤮🤮
We know who the Republicans are. They make it plain every day. There’s nothing we can do about that – they are in power. And the more we make a fuss about who they are the stronger they become. As I’ve said before, “librul baiting” is the right-wing national past-time – getting liberals upset is most of the point.
There is only one way out of this: at the ballot box in November. And there’s only one way that’s going to happen: the Democrats must offer the people something worth voting for. “I’m not Trump” isn’t going to cut it. “No we can’t” isn’t going to cut it. “Bernie Bros”, “deplorables”, “superpredators” and “free stuff” isn’t going to cut it.
So far there is only one candidate who is trustfully offering the people reasonable solutions to their suffering. A couple others are trying to mimic his positions. but it’s only a phony veneer. Others aren’t even trying to pretend to offer the people anything. Yet, as we just saw in Iowa (and as we’ve seen many times before), the Democratic Party is doing its level best to destroy the one candidate who is actually offering improvement. It’s almost like the Democratic Party would rather have a repeat of Trump than take a risk with a “socialist” (actually, a moderate capitalist) who threatens their donor class.
If you’re going to get outraged, direct that outrage where it might possibly do some good: your own party. Make your demands heard and make it clear that shafting us is not acceptable. Medicare for All, support for public education, student debt forgiveness, free public higher education and other such support for the people are not negotiable. It is obscene that the “richest country in the world”, which can afford trillions in military spending, “can’t afford” to take care of its own people. These are not pie-in-the-sky demands. They are what civilized human beings should expect.
But so long as you continue to vote for “your party” no matter how much sh– they throw in your face, nothing will change. Even if we’re “lucky” enough to elect someone like Biden or Buttigieg, things will continue to decline and 2024 will elect a Republican who will be infinitely worse than Trump (yes, that is absolutely possible). More likely, however, if anyone but Sanders is nominated, we will simply get more Trump. Make it clear to the Democrats that you will not tolerate being told which neoliberal toady to vote for and maybe, just maybe, they’ll get the message and we won’t have to vote for a neoliberal toady.
(P.S.: Go ahead and flame me. I won’t be back.)
100% correct!
“100% correct”??
Wow, you really think Elizabeth Warren is a big phony who presumably is planning to sell out every progressive idea as soon as she can? I’m really sick of that kind of ugly and nasty smear about her. It’s as ugly as the smears directed toward Diane Ravitch.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez knows that Elizabeth Warren is not a big fake phony. So either AOC is dead wrong or you and dienne77 are dead wrong.
I am going with AOC because i trust AOC a lot more than I trust someone who believes that the Mueller Report totally exonerated Trump.
I agree completely. We should all vote our consciemce. The problem arrises always, it seems, that we are given a choice between a lesser of two of those who oppose much of our ideal program. It has been a long time since I felt I could really influence an election, even in the primary.
I will vote for ANY Democrat in the general election as I did in 2016. I hope it’s Bernie, (who I will vote for in the primary), but we have to be ready for any eventuality.
Many progressives rightly criticize some conservative Democrats. But real progressives aren’t obsessed with shutting down all criticism of Trump at the same time. They easily acknowledge exactly how bad Trump is and his dangers.
But dienne77 does not do that. Whenever there is any post about Trump, she wants to change the subject because “we know who the Republicans are”.
Who are the Republicans, dienne77? Why can’t you say it? Why change the subject whenever there is criticism of the Republicans? Why can’t dienne77 allow any discussion of the specific outrages that Trump and the Republicans commit? Are we really supposed to believe that the person trying to shut down all criticism of Republicans really “knows who the Republicans are”?
The person who has called the Mueller Report a “nothing burger” and says that the Democrats only impeached Trump for political reasons has no idea “who the Republicans are”.
The person whose criticism of Trump is limited to him being “uncouth” or “orange-haired” does not have any idea “who the Republicans are.”
A person who tries desperately to change the subject whenever the discussion is about how the Republicans are DANGEROUS or CORRUPT or EVIL or CRIMINAL is being very disingenuous when they tell everyone else to shut up and not talk about that because “we know who the Republicans are”.
If you can’t say it, dienne77, then you clearly don’t know who the Republicans are. And you can’t say it.
dienne77 can certainly say it when it comes to Democrats. When it comes to the Democrats, she throws out all sorts of specifics about how Democrats bomb innocent children and conspire to steal elections. Gosh are we democrats truly evil.
“deplorables”, “superpredators” and “free stuff”. Contrary to the false narrative the dienne77 is pushing, no Democrat has ever run on that. But it is certainly a right wing talking point to imply those 3 words encapsulate everything the democrats stand for. They are words used to smear Democrats, which I assume is why dienne77 used them, and not what the democrats have ever stood for.
And which candidates in the Democratic primary are running on the platform of “I’m not Trump” and “no we can’t” as dienne77’s post insinuates?
Elizabeth Warren’s entire campaign is NOT “I’m not Trump” or “no we can’t”. Neither is anyone else’s, including Mike Bloomberg, who I despise. I can despise Bloomberg while recognizing that he is offering a platform that is much more than that.
I am supporting Bernie, but dienne77 posts the kind of trash that make people hate Bernie supporters. Given that dienne77 has defended Trump against impeachment and the Mueller Report and repeats the ugliest right wing lies to undermine the Democrats, she sounds a lot more like Donald Trump jr. than a Bernie supporter.
I’m sick of conservative Democrats who would rather have Trump than Bernie Sanders holding voters hostage and making it clear that they will repeat dishonest right wing propaganda to destroy Bernie if he is the nominee so their favored candidate – Trump – can win. And I’m sick of progressives who would rather have Trump than any candidate but Bernie holding voters hostage and making it clear that they will repeat dishonest right wing propaganda to destroy Elizabeth Warren (she’s a phony! says dienne77) or any other candidate so that their favored candidate – Trump – can win. And I’m sick of them denying that is what they are doing when they smear every candidate but their chosen one.
Both groups are equally reprehensible. Both groups are equally dishonest. Both groups are full of white people who believe that Trump and his white supremacist party won’t come for them. And in their position of privilege they demonstrate a characteristic that is as ugly as any Republican legislator. So it is no wonder they act like spoiled and entitled children when they demonstrate that if they don’t get their way, they are going to help destroy democracy to punish everyone else.
Contrast posts like the above one by dienne77 with Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez who can be a progressive and critical of the Democrats without lying and using right wing talking points.
AOC knows who the Republicans are. White progressives who shut down all criticisms of Trump do not know who the Republicans are at all.
Agreed. I watch MSNBC and and have gotten nauseous with their attacks on Sanders. Yet at the same time the nihilist let is just as revolting.
Franco won the Spanish Civil war because the opposition spent more time attacking each other.
Yes, dienne77 seems to share a similar “say anything to win” POV with the people who trash Bernie using lies and deceptive posts like she made smearing the other candidates. Both groups embrace dishonesty and make totally false characterizations to get people to “hate” their opponent because they are much too cowardly to make this a primary about ideas and issues. I can only guess that they believe the ends justifies the means. Hey, it worked for Trump supporters who they also resemble a lot more than they know. Lies and false smears got Trump the victory his supporters wanted. Maybe that’s why those people all too frequent mimic Trump supporters “winning justifies anything” morality.
You won’t vote for a neo liberal toady. So you will let an authoritarian demagogue stay in power. I don’t like the term neo liberal because the ignorant think there is something liberal about the free market philosophy of Ian Rand Ronald Reagan , Margret Thatcher ,Fredric Hyek , Milton Friedman and of course the Koch Brothers …..
I prefer the term corrupt corporatist’s .
That said if Bernie wins I will vote for him. Do you know who wont vote for him . The very working class that stands to benefit from his policies most. Or at least those that voted for Trump in 16, the vast majority of whom voted for Romney in 12.
But if you think Bernie is not going to get creamed look what happened to Warren when she announced the details of M4All. Union workers in NY killed the States M4all proposal. Americans love their employer provided health care .
I would say they love it till they have to use it. Thankfully the vast majority do not have to use it often. Americans favor M4All by 67% until you tell them it is not free. Employer provided healthcare is not free. It is paid for in deferred waged at best, my plan was $18 an hour. But try explaining that to people. I doubt there are 10% of the members of my Union who know that it is a deffered wage or that it was that expensive. . The thought of having to pay for it drops the approval to 47 % +-. Warren’s announced a plan which avoided direct taxation and after a few weeks of assault her poll numbers dropped.
You could not get to be more of a corporate shill than Mayor Pete whose work experience was with the “Velociraptor of corporate management”. And whose race is funded by Silicon Valley millionaires. For some strange reason he is neck and neck with Sanders and ahead of Warren.
I will vote for a bucket of Sh-t if it is not Trump or any Republican . Then I will get the hose to clean up.
Joel, agreed!
Ayn Rand, still need the edit button .
It will be fun to watch the Repugnicans who spoke of Mitt Romney as the Second Coming trash this man when he votes against Vlad’s Agent Orange. Senator Romney, thank you for showing integrity by electing to vote for decency. Rare, these days.

The president’s address included false and misleading claims on jobs, wages, energy, immigration and more.
By Eugene Kiely, Brooks Jackson, Lori Robertson, Robert Farley, D’Angelo Gore, Jessica McDonald and Isabella Fertel
Posted on February 5, 2020
In his 2020 address to Congress, President Donald Trump stretched and distorted the facts:
Trump claimed the economy is “the best it has ever been.” But GDP growth fell to 2.3% last year and economists predict further slowing this year.
He said he brought about low unemployment by reversing “years of economic decay” and “failed economic policies,” when in fact over 1 million more jobs were added in the 35 months before he took office than in the first 35 months since.
Trump boasted that the “unemployment rate for women reached the lowest level in almost 70 years.” That’s true, but it had been trending down for several years before he took office.
The president wrongly said, “After decades of flat and falling incomes, wages are rising fast.” They’ve gone up under Trump, but also have risen under the last several presidents.
Trump claimed that people’s 401(k)s and pensions have increased “60, 70, 80, 90, and 100% and even more.” Some may have, but that’s far higher than the average.
He said “real median household income is now at the highest level ever recorded.” However, the Census Bureau noted that was partly due to a change in survey questions in 2014. Based on “adjusted” figures, median household income was slightly higher in 1999 than in 2018.
Trump claimed the new trade agreement with Canada and Mexico “will create nearly 100,000 … auto jobs.” But an independent federal commission puts the job gains at 28,000 over five years.
The president boasted that “a long, tall, and very powerful wall is being built” along the southern border, and more than 100 miles have been completed. But only one mile is located where no barriers previously existed.
Trump said “illegal crossings” at the southwest border “are down 75% since May.” But total apprehensions in 2019 were 81% higher than in 2016, the year before Trump took office.
He said that “after losing 60,000 factories under the previous two administrations, America has now gained 12,000 new factories under my administration.” He’s referring to what the Bureau of Labor Statistics calls manufacturing “establishments,” and most of the growth under Trump has been in facilities with fewer than five employees.
Trump compared apples to oranges in claiming a doubling of insurance premiums in five years before he took office and “less expensive” plans under his administration.
The president said he made an “iron-clad” promise to “always protect patients with preexisting conditions,” but that ignores the fact he has supported Republican health plans that would reduce the current protections under the Affordable Care Act.
He suggested, misleadingly, that his administration was responsible for the U.S. becoming the world’s top producer of oil and natural gas. But the U.S. has been No. 1 in the world for natural gas for more than a decade, and tops in petroleum since 2013.
Trump said “300,000 working age people” left the workforce during Obama’s eight years. Actually, the workforce grew by 5.4 million.
We also reviewed the Democratic response and found that Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer got the story on wages wrong, too, when she said they have “stagnated while CEO pay has skyrocketed.” Pay at the top may have grown more rapidly over the long term, but wages overall have gone up….

I LOVE Borowitz. Remember that he is a comedian and this is satire.

El Chapo Outraged That His Trial Included Witnesses
FLORENCE, Colorado (The Borowitz Report)—The convicted drug lord known as El Chapo said on Thursday that he was “outraged” his 2019 trial had included witnesses. He also revealed that he was demanding a new trial without them.
Speaking from ADX Florence, a maximum-security facility in Colorado, the former drug kingpin complained that his trial would have resulted in a speedy acquittal had it not been for the irritating presence of witnesses.
“If I had to point to one reason why I was convicted of all of those crimes, it would have to be witnesses,” he said. “Once the decision was made to include witnesses, things really went downhill for me.”…

Things that offend Republicans:

–MIchelle trying to get students to be served a good lunch
Things that offend Melania Trump:
Her son’s name being mentioned in a totally innocuous context.
Things that don’t offend Melania Trump:
Calling the 12 year old daughter of a President a “dog” to make fun of her looks to millions of listeners.
If you call the 12 year old daughter of a President other than Trump a “dog”, Melanie Trump will personally put on your medal of honor.
A powerful grown man who bullies a 12 year girl? Is the girl the daughter of a Democrat? Then Melania Trump will give you a medal.
I guess Melania should give Steven Mnuchin a medal for making fun of Greta Thunberg, as well.
Be best!
The right wing media are going nuts over Nancy Pelosi’s tearing up of Trump’s speech and then tossing it aside with obvious disgust and contempt. Hurrah for Nancy. According to all the far right wing apartachiks, how dare Nancy be so petty, petulant, rude and crude. Well, at least she didn’t yell, “YOU LIE!!!!!!!” She would have been entirely accurate.
What has Rush Crypto Fascist Limbaugh done to deserve the Medal of Freedom? Oh yeah, he’s slavishly kissed up to Trump for the past few years otherwise he’s a merchant of hate, bigotry, racism and misogyny.
Colbert had an opening last night showing “Pelosi”:
1. shredding that ripped speech;
2. using it to line a bird cage;
3. making a paper silhouette cut-out of IQ45.
My description does it no justice; you just have to see it–hilarious!
I have a Bernie sticker taped on the inside of the back window of my car. Someone in my condo building spit all over the outside window of where the sticker is taped. Shows the intelligence/maturity level of Trump supporters.
And here I was making fun before that you only had it taped to the inside of the window.
Windex sure beats getting a new sticker.
I intend to contribute to the campaign of a viable Kentucky Democrat who has a chance to defeat Mitch McConnell. Right now the only prospect is Amy Mc Grath, not a great alternativ, but dong well in getting national attention.
The Democratic party seems to be hell-bent on shooting itself in the foot. I see little attention to the so-called “down tickets” especially states where electoral college votes put Trump in office.
Andy Beshear won governorship in Kentucky.
It would be great if Amy McGrath beat #MoscowMitch

BREAKING: Senate acquits President Trump!
Today, House Democrats’ sham impeachment ended with the full vindication and exoneration of President Trump by the Senate.
Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham issued the following statement in part:
In what has now become a consistent tradition for Democrats, this was yet another witch-hunt that deprived the President of his due process rights and was based on a series of lies . . . Throughout this wholly corrupt process, President Trump successfully advanced the interests of the United States and remained focused on the issues that matter to Americans. He spent his time achieving real victories for the people of this country, and the Democrats—once again—have nothing to show for their fraudulent schemes.
President Trump’s State of the Union address made his priorities clear: It’s time to put the partisanship in Congress behind us. One of the most important lines from his speech last night reminds our leaders who they’re here to serve. It’s not their donors, it’s not each other, and it’s not the sensationalist corporate media.
“Members of Congress: We must never forget that the only victories that matter in Washington are victories that deliver for the American people.”
Pelosi knows lies when she hears them. Watch her reactions on the U-tube video:
SOTU 2020: Nancy Pelosi Funny Reactions – Pelosi Tears Up Trump’s SOTU Speech
Feb 5, 2020
President Donald Trump delivers his State of the Union speech at the US congress (02-04-2020) on February 4, 2020. But House speaker Nancy Pelosi rejected Donald Trump’s State of the Union address. During Trump’s SOTU 2020 speech, Nancy Pelosi ripped up a copy of President Trump’s State of the Union address as he ended his speech Tuesday night — after the president refused to shake her hand at the beginning of the address. As Trump was ending the one hour and 18-minute speech, Vice President Mike Pence and Pelosi, who were seated behind the president during his remarks, stood up as the House chamber erupted into applause.
Pelosi took the paper copy of the speech Trump had handed to her at the beginning of the event and — in full view of the television cameras — ripped the paper in half.
She then grabbed more papers that had the text of the speech printed on them and tore them in half as well.
Asked by a reporter why she shredded the speech, Pelosi said, “It was the courteous thing to do.”
Opinion: In Private, Republicans Admit They Acquitted Trump Out of Fear
One journalist remarked to me, “How in the world can these senators walk around here upright when they have no backbone?”
For the stay-in-office-at-all-cost representatives and senators, fear is the motivator. They are afraid that Mr. Trump might give them a nickname like “Low Energy Jeb” and “Lyin’ Ted,” or that he might tweet about their disloyalty. Or — worst of all — that he might come to their state to campaign against them in the Republican primary. They worry:
“Will the hosts on Fox attack me?”
“Will the mouthpieces on talk radio go after me?”
“Will the Twitter trolls turn their followers against me?”
My colleagues know they all just might. There’s an old Russian proverb: The tallest blade of grass is the first cut by the scythe. In private, many of my colleagues agree that the president is reckless and unfit. They admit his lies. And they acknowledge what he did was wrong. They know this president has done things Richard Nixon never did. And they know that more damning evidence is likely to come out.
So watching the mental contortions they perform to justify their votes is painful to behold: They claim that calling witnesses would have meant a never-ending trial. They tell us they’ve made up their minds, so why would we need new evidence? They say to convict this president now would lead to the impeachment of every future president — as if every president will try to sell our national security to the highest bidder.
I have asked some of them, “If the Senate votes to acquit, what will you do to keep this president from getting worse?” Their responses have been shrugs and sheepish looks…
Trump gave the Medal of Freedom to Limbaugh which is reprehensible and cheapened the award. Didn’t Obama
give the award to oligarch, Bill Gates?
Stephanie Grisham says of Rep. Adam Schiff after Trump’s acquittal: “Will there be no retribution?” Isn’t this a threat?
Where are the press conferences? Isn’t that Grisham’s job?

Statement from the Press Secretary
Today, the sham impeachment attempt concocted by Democrats ended in the full vindication and exoneration of President Donald J. Trump. As the have said all along, he is not guilty. The Senate voted to reject the baseless articles of impeachment, and only the President’s political opponents – all Democrats, and one failed Republican presidential candidate – voted for the manufactured impeachment articles.
In what has now become a consistent tradition for Democrats, this was yet another witch-hunt that deprived the President of his due process rights and was based on a series of lies. Rep. Adam Schiff lied to Congress and the American people with a totally made up statement about the President’s phone call. Will there be no retribution? Speaker Nancy Pelosi also lied to the American people about the need to swiftly pass impeachment articles they dreamt up, only to sit on the more a month before sending over to the Senate. In the Senate, the Democrats continue to make their political motivations clear – Rep Schiff proclaimed the issues ‘cannot be decided at a the ballet box’ [proving once again they think they know better than the voters of this country. This entire effort by the Democrats was aimed at overturning the results of the 2016 election and interfering with the 2020 election.
Throughout this wholly corrupt process, President Trump successfully advanced the interests of the United States and remained focused on the issues that matter to Americans. He spent his time achieving real victories for the people of this country, and the Democrats – one again – have nothing to show for their fraudulent schemes….
