The Washington Post reported this evening that moderate Democrats who voted to impeach Trump are the targets of a GOP ad campaign to oust them. Every one of them knew they were putting their future at risk.
GOP-tied group to spend $2.5 million against moderate Democrats
An advocacy group with GOP ties said Wednesday it will spend $2.5 million in the immediate aftermath of the House impeachment vote to attack supportive Democratic lawmakers in running next year in districts President cTrump previously won.
The new American Action Network spending is in addition to the $8.5 million the group has already spent in the lead-up to Wednesday’s vote — a campaign that has spooked many vulnerable Democrats but failed to convince them to oppose impeachment.
A total of 29 members will be targeted by digital ads. Nine of those will see cable and broadcast television ads run in their districts: Democratic Reps. Jared Golden (Maine), Elissa Slotkin (Mich.), Xochitl Torres Small (N.M.), Susie Lee (Nev.), Max Rose (N.Y.), Anthony Brindisi (N.Y), Kendra Horn (Okla.), Joe Cunningham (S.C.) and Elaine Luria (Va.).
Remember these names. Even if by some awful chance they lose their seats, remember them. We need their kind of courage in government service. There will be other elections/opportunities for people of principle.
Mike Bloomberg is supposed to be helping the targeted candidates. with $10 million.

“Every one of them knew they were putting their future at risk.”
Um, that’s a bit dramatic. Even if the GOP manages to get these Democrats voted out of office, I am unaware of any unemployed former Congresscritters. In fact, the vast majority make far more after leaving office than they do in it.
As far as being able to get them voted out of office, if the Democrats would learn to listen to their constituents instead of telling them what’s good for them, maybe they’d have less to worry about.

Your contempt for all things political is showing, especially if it has “Democrat” on its T-shirt. Every party needs honest criticism, but your obvious contempt has gone far beyond that, which is understandable but not necessarily helpful. Where do you want us to be in 2021 after the election? How do you help us get even close to that with some semblance of a democratic system left intact?
I agree that democrats would do well to respond to the needs of their constituents. What proposals would you have them make that would blunt the force of the attack approach taken by their opponents? These attack approaches ignore the moral turpitude of their own and attack their opponents. Should democrats do this? What should they do?
Dienne, you confuse me. Are you saying that the Democratic moderates should listen to their Trump supporters and oppose impeachment?
It is beyond cynical to write that if they lose their job, they will make more money as lobbyists.
How do you know that?
Most of the moderates come from districts that voted for Trump. Most are veterans of the military or CIA. Why do you hold them in contempt? To me, they are heroes for standing up to Trump rather than capitulating to the majority of voters in their district who voted for Trump in 2016.
I will never be as cynical as you.
I believe in hope, courage, integrity, honor. I salute those who display it.
Thank G-d, I do not!!! I am so very lucky (or, that is, we voted for her–repeatedly!!–for a reason) that my Rep. is (& I use this in all seriousness because, normally, I highly disagree w/calling elected officials “Honorable,” as most of them, unfortunately, are not, & most undeserving of the title) the Honorable Jan Schakowsky of the IL 9th CD.
In fact, she held an overflow meeting (people were lined up outside the door in freezing temperatures, & parked blocks away) in a huge church auditorium in January, right after the inauguration, calling for the impeachment of IQ 45!
Instead of waiting for him to continue to commit crimes against the People of the U.S., the House should have listened to Jan right then & there. Perhaps the extensive damaged he has caused–to the nation and the word–could have been prevented.
