In this interview, he explains why he opposes school closings, charter schools, and vouchers, which have been disproportionately imposed on communities of color.
Don’t believe the claims by corporate reformers that black and brown parents want privately managed charters where they have no voice. They want well-funded public schools with experienced teachers and a full array of programs and services, where their voice matters.

Jitu Brown understands the purpose of authentic public education. He knows that public schools are the anchor of stability in poor communities. The goal should always be equity over privatization. Equitable funding nurtures the community while privatization undermines it. It also often destroys local communities as privatization helps developers unpend minority communities to clear a path for gentrification. The federal government, as Brown points out, has failed to deliver on integration. Privatization is another scam masquerading as faux social justice. It is not a comprehensive solution to providing equity.
The Democrats have been as guilty as Republicans in promoting privatization. He mentions Bernie’s bold plan to support equitable public education. His plan is by far the most far reaching and visionary. Brown also mentions Elizabeth Warren, whom I admire, but do not fully trust on education since her senior education advisor is a former TFA teacher. She needs to do more to explain her education agenda.

Just curious… Was there any mention or discussion or testimony of Buffalo Solders’ participation in carrying out genocide against Native Americans and the taking of their lands, so that African Americans would pay reparations to Native Americans?

Oh, ofc, the genocide against the indigenous peoples of the Americas should be laid at the feet of black people. And because of the War on Christmas, one never even hears of this holiday anymore. And we need a straight pride parade, ofc, because of all the discrimination and violence to which straight cis people are subjected just for being straight and cis–being prevented from serving in the military for example. And Donald Trump is a self-made business genius. And Obama put chemicals in the water to turn teenagers transgender. And the world is run by shape-shifting reptilian aliens with a spaceport under the Vatican. And this just in: unborn baby sings like Elvis.
