the post dispatch in st. louis does not allow me to make comments after stories or letters…..but they published a letter from me, today…..If drug testing works for major sports, why not for politicians, too?..I am someone who is generally supportive of efforts by Major League Baseball and other sports to make drug testing a regular feature of what is required of the players. It seems to have had a good effect.
I would think that given the work required of our senators and representatives, and of our presidents, it would not be unreasonable to have them tested in ways similar to our professional athletes. Since we, the citizens elect them, we should have access to the test results. A special committee should be created to respond appropriately.
I do admit that this idea came to me after watching some speeches made by some of the people who hold political office.
Donald Trump knows that the only way for him to stay out of prison is to stay in office. That’s certainly, to use IQ45’s unique orthography, “unpresidented.” So, the coming election is high-stakes for him. He’s highly motivated. Is there any way to make a deal? He goes back to Mar-a-lago, wears an ankle bracelet, eats cheeseburgers, plays golf, tweets his crazy senile uncle rants, and yells at his TV. We get someone in office who isn’t a laughingstock among our allies and the friend of our foes. It’s a win-win.
Americans felt pride in 1800 when Jefferson assumed the presidency without a violent transition from Federalism to anti-federalism, thus named the “Bloodless Revolution”. Something tells me we won’t be so fortunate this time around with a traitorous Russian asset befouling the Oval Office.
Trump also loves polluted air. $$$ for corporations is all that matters. Fire people at the EPA and then underfund it.
People are much happier when they breath polluted air. Thank goodness for the Dems. They are NOT the same as the current GOP. They aren’t perfect but this is a disaster.

Congress Probes EPA Block of NASA Tracking Toxic Harvey Air
Congressional Democrats are launching an investigation into why the EPA stopped NASA from tracking harmful pollution from the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey. The Los Angeles Timesreported Tuesday that EPA officials and the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality declined a NASA offer to fly a pollution-analyzing jet over the Houston region to help evaluate the environmental effects on locals after the catastrophic 2017 storm. EPA officials argued the data collected by the space agency could cause “confusion” and might “overlap” with their own analysis. “EPA and the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality knew air pollution was one of the unseen dangers of Hurricane Harvey, but chose not to use every available tool to discover it,” said Elena Craft, a senior director at the Environmental Defense Fund, which coordinated air-pollution sampling in Houston after Harvey. On Wednesday, members of the House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology sent letters to the EPA, NASA, and Texas environmental officials asking for all documents relating to the agencies’ decision not to fly. “Instead of gathering the most accurate air-quality data possible, state and federal officials apparently decided they would rather not know about potential toxic chemical releases,” committee members wrote.
I thought Kushner would have brought peace to the Middle East by now. [Sarcasm] Nothing like having family members with no qualifications going to meetings without any members of the State department in attendance. What is Kushner trying to pull?
……….
— Staffers at the U.S. Embassy in Riyadh said they were shut out of meetings between Jared Kushner and Saudi Arabia’s royal court last week. From the Daily Beast’s Erin Banco: Kushner “met with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and King Salman to discuss U.S.-Saudi cooperation, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and economic investment in the region, according to the White House. But no one from the embassy in Riyadh was in the meetings, according to two sources. The State Department did have a senior official in attendance, but he was not part of the State Department team in Saudi. He is a senior member of the department focused on Iran.”
— Trump is covering for MBS over the death of Jamal Khashoggi, The Post’s Editorial Board writes, and the Senate must push harder for accountability: “In his zeal to cover for [MBS], who the CIA concluded ordered Khashoggi’s murder, President Trump is defying Congress’s authority under the Global Magnitsky Act, which provides for U.S. action in cases of gross human rights abuses. The law allows legislators to require a finding by the president in specific cases … The Senate’s view is already clear: It unanimously approved a resolution in December holding the crown prince responsible. Now the question is whether the Senate will act to uphold its authority under the law and prevent the Saudi ruler from escaping accountability for the gruesome murder and dismemberment of a journalist who was a Virginia resident and a contributor to The Post.”
Immigrants are desperate to leave their countries due to the problems put there largely by US policies. Instead of hiring immigration lawyers to work on amnesty cases, Trump is still spouting the need for The Wall. It is a huge waste of money. It would take years to complete because private land owners don’t want to sell their property. In some cases the terrain is way too rough to support a wall. Drugs come in mostly through ports of entry. Oh well. Read the latest BS from the WH.

Top 5 border falsehoods pushed by Congressional Democrats and the media
Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen testified before Congress yesterday about the National Emergency on our southern border. In reporting the latest statistics from U.S. border officials, she confronted the Democrats’ no. 1 immigration myth head-on. “We face a crisis—a real, serious, and sustained crisis at our borders,” she said.
The reason Democrats defend the status quo is not because they or anyone else believe that America’s broken immigration system is working. Indeed, the problem has only gotten worse since former President Obama himself called it a “humanitarian crisis” nearly five years ago.
But acknowledging such a crisis exists today would make Democrats accountable for working with President Trump to help solve it. Their leaders have already gone on the record to say they will not. Instead, they hope to keep a lid on the ugly, painful truths behind the emergency unfolding along our southern border.
It is time to set the record straight:
Myth: There is no crisis at the border.
Fact: More than 76,000 people attempted to cross our border illegally last month alone—the most of any February during the past 12 years.
Myth: The problem at the border used to be much worse.
Fact: Today, we face an unprecedented number of illegal immigrants that loopholes prevent from being returned quickly to their home countries. Criminal smugglers exploit these rulings and use children as leverage to gain entry.
Myth: A wall wouldn’t help stop the flow of drugs.
Fact: Not only do we not know the amount of drugs smuggled between ports of entry, but building the wall will help law enforcement personnel carry out their missions more safely and effectively in remote areas of the border.

The “Enemies of the People” Have a Few Questions for the President
The White House press briefing is dead. It was awful, but we should still mourn it.
By Susan B. Glasser 5:00 A.M
The array of subjects and controversies about which we lack even basic information shows just how much the public is losing because the White House has shut down legitimate, regular inquiries.
…I asked Sanders in an e-mail for her comment on whether this is now the death of the White House press briefing, and whether she wanted to respond to any of the questions the correspondents had sent to me. She did not respond.
Another gem!
