   The Mummers Parade is thought to be the oldest folk parade in America. The mummer tradition dates back to Elizabethan England. Part of the tradition is satire. Earlier in the “Wench Division” a group of teachers and administrators presented the “Fair Funding Fantasy.” The gist of the performance was that if the city can pay to clean up the Schuykill River, which happened last spring, it can afford to fairly fund public schools.

   LOVE the Mummers!!! Also, be looking for the New Orleans Mardi Gras season parades (start 2 weeks before Fat Tuesday). Best one is satirical to the Nth degree, at night (intended for adults only)–Krewe Delusion. I think it’s Friday, Feb. 15th this year.
