Can you believe this? The College Board gave the SAT IN Asia in 2017, released the questions and answers, then recycled the same test in the USA in 2018.
Mercedes Schneider has the story here.

Not a “goof” and nothing new.
It is the POLICY of College Board to reuse test questions and in some cases entire tests so they can save money (presumably in order to continue to pay execs like David Coleman close to a million dollars a year.)
See, for example
As SAT was hit by security breaches, College Board went ahead with tests that had leaked

College Board should have their nonprofit status revoked.
It’s a money making venture for executives if ever there was one.
YUP.
What does the college board think its own punishment for this should be, in the context of the punishment they expect of others for security breaches?
Following 20th century TV / movie lore, “College Board, self destruct, self destruct”
Just as there was no accountability for David Coleman over his Common Core debacle, there will be no accountability for this.
He’ll simply blame it on someone else like he always does and he and his cronies will continue to collect their obscene salaries and bonuses.
Let’s not forget that this was the guy who attempted to capitalize on the Parkland shooting by using it as a marketing plug for AP courses.
Another reason why I don’t trust the college board. When universities started being taken over by lifetime politicians, I knew this country is in big trouble.
Woodrow Wilson was president of Princeton in the late 1800s. I think this tradition is pretty old.
Mercedes posted July 24th, “Challenging Doug Harris to a follow up study isolating OPSB and RSD Outcomes for New Orleans Schools”. Harris is the Director of the Arnold-funded Education Research Alliance at Tulane. This summer he was awarded the Dept. of Ed. grant (from DeVos) to develop products and marketing for the private sector’s charter schools. Sadly, he has PUBLIC UNIVERSITY faculty collaborating (some of whom got their own Arnold grants). Too many are willing to pull up the ladder, behind them, that they climbed.
Here you go. At this website, you can send a message to the Trustees.
If you want David Coleman ousted this is the way to show that he is incompetent and overpaid and immoral for trying to capitalize on the Parkland shootings.
https://www.collegeboard.org/about/governance/trustees
If they did not boot Coleman out over what he said after Parkland, they won’t do it now.
Coleman’s comment was beyond the pale and any ethical person would have demanded his resignation.
That really demonstrated the kind of people they are.
The Board Chair is from Vanderbilt. Vanderbilt’s education faculty staffed the forerunner of this summer’s REACH project (product development and marketing for private sector charter schools, funded by the taxpayer).
Ethical lines, if they exist?
Thanks for the link. I wrote.
I can just hear the thinking of the succubi at The College Board. As you all know, Gates had appointed Lord Coleman to be the decider for the rest of us about what should and should not be taught in math and English. After the appearance of the Common Core $tate $tandards, on the basis of that appointment, Coleman became president of the College Board and set about revising the already absurd SAT to create the Common Core edition, which I call the Scholastic Common Core Aptitude Test, or SCCAT. He made this test as convoluted as are all the state tests based on the Common Core (or on the “revised” standards that we are supposed to pretend aren’t the Common Core.Like those state tests, the new exams contain multiple-choice questions with “plausible” incorrect answers that are supposed, in an objective-test format, to test “higher-order thinking skills,” something that such questions are not ideal for doing. The new test questions are a confused and confusing mess.
I suspect that they knew that the new test was likely to be a disaster and so felt they had to do a trial run in Asia, first, where the populous has had testing beaten into them for millennia. Emperor Wen of Han introduced the Imperial Examination system for government posts in 165 BCE. Autocrats LOVE giving exams TO OTHER PEOPLE.
Welcome to the New Feudal Order.
Your comments always wake me up. Gates is still pushing the Common Core.
Humbled by this comment, Laura, for your posts are the most “woke,” as the kids say, that I read on a regular basis.
Bill Gates is like the officials of the Catholic Church who continued enforce (under penatly of death) the geocentric view of the Earth long after Copernicus showed that it was incorrect .
Geocentric view of universe
I love that expression, “woke,” btw, despite its being ungrammatical. Language changes. Kids always find ways to say that they understand more than their elders do. I love the generation of kids coming up. They have awakened to a lot of the crap they were born into. They see it for what it is. Great changes coming. We’re in a phase transition, like a pot of water just before it starts boiling.
Nice thread. I agree.
What do you see if you look at the PARCC test in a mirror?
SSCAT
Exactly!!! LOL!!!
SCCAT
Of course!! Rebrand crap & it’s still ccrapp.
A skunk by any other name still stinks.
Bob: thanks for your analyses of the various testing issues here. You advise from experience. Moreover, using the Latin plural of succubus has to earn you something in the pantheon of linguistic excellence (PLE).
I thought the plural of succubus was succubutts
