This is Pete Seeger explaining how to fight the Janus Decision.
Here is another version, a bit jumpy, but lively. A celebration of Pete Seeger’s 90th birthday.

Frederick Douglas on the meaning of July 4th for Black people
Hi Diane I’m sure you’ve read this speech, but it is always worth re-reading. There is a link to the speech in the first sentence. Joel

Credit is due to Woody Guthrie, Pete Seeger’s good friend and pro-labor activist, who wrote Union Maid and The Women’s Auxiliary.

This song and “This Land is Your Land” remind us that our country belongs to our people that have rights that must be defended against the evil forces of fascism and plutocrats that seek to diminish our rights. Seeger was a great songwriter, folk singer and environmentalist. I had the chance to meet him a couple of times at his fundraisers for the Clearwater Foundation. His sloop went up and down the Hudson River to raise money to help clean up the river. He also ran workshops for school children encouraging them to be good stewards of our land. His foundation is still at work today. https://www.clearwater.org/about/the-clearwater-story/

Pete Seeger was performing for teachers who were working in South-east Asian American schools back when I was teaching in Kuala Lumpur. He performed in an auditorium in Bangkok. I was astounded at his complete command of the audience. It was an overwhelming experience. He is a great entertainer who had everyone of us entranced.
