You really have to wonder what it takes for this country to do something substantive and meaningful about the gun slaughters in this country. Sane countries like the UK and Australia enacted stricter laws after their gun slaughters and did reduce the incidence of of gun related crimes. By all means, vote for candidates who are willing to stand up to the NRA and who have the guts to propose stricter gun laws. Instead we are constantly bombarded with the pro gun propaganda which so many Americans seem to swallow; these Americans will vote for the pro gun candidate. Thank goodness NJ is a leader in stronger gun laws and Gov. Murphy has just enacted more laws regulating the proliferation of guns.
” Thirty-one teachers and students have been slaughtered, more than have been killed in the military this year not counting deaths in training exercises. ”
Sounds like war statistics.
If anyone truly wishes to eliminate private ownership of firearms, and thus, the use of firearms, then they should support candidates who favor the repeal of the Second Amendment.
Our nation tried to ban alcohol with the 18th amendment. The experiment was a failure. The people repealed the 18th with the 21st Amendment.
Maybe it is time to realize that the 2d amendment is outdated, and a failure.
The widespread use of firearms, for illegal purposes has got to be curtailed. Our nation will never be made safe from the illegal use of firearms, only safer.
Sound, workable legislation, possibly including some constitutional revision, may be the way to go.
