After the Sandy Hook massacre, Alex Jones made his unsavory reputation insisting that the massacre of children and staff in Newtown, Connecticut, was a hoax, elaborately staged by professional actors.
Two of the parents whose children were killed have sued Alex Jones for defamation.
Mercedes Schneider has the story here.
It’s about time that this malicious propagandist was brought to justice.

Trump told Comey he wanted the FBI to arrest and throw journalists in jail … those journalists that dare to say or print anything negative about Trump’s endless lies. Alex Jones is not a journalist. He is a three-ring circus of lies and conspiracy theories and he should be in prison for life for all of the libel and slander that he has spewed like sewer sludge from a fire hose.
The 1st Amendment was not written to protect frauds and cons like Alex Jones. That’s why there are libel and slander laws.
I want these parents to clean out Alex Jones bank account and take all of his property and investments away from him and any earnings that Jones makes from his conspiracy theory site for the next century.

I agree.
If rabid Trump supporter and Facebook board member Peter Thiel (whose Palantir employees helped Cambridge Analytica mine their illegally obtained Facebook data) can bankroll a lawsuit by Hulk Hogan to bankrupt Gawker, surely this completely legitimate lawsuit should bankrupt and close down the hate-fomenting, violence-fomenting, slanderous Alex Jones.
Alex Jones’ uses such hateful rhetoric to sling his lies that his followers threaten death to the people Alex Jones targets and their families are in danger because of Alex Jones lies.
Jones should be bankrupted the way Gawker was.

This is where we are in this country, that a rabid howling hyena/ghoul like Alex Jones is taken seriously by a few stupid and/or insane people!!! His listeners have made hideous allegations and even death threats against the parents of the slain children. The fringe has gone mainstream: President Trump (who made a phone-in interview to the AJ show, and complemented Alex’s efforts). Though lately, Jones is a little unhappy with Trump for attacking Syria; Jones contends that the chemical attacks in Syria were a hoax and a false flag operation. Jones is a serial liar, does he even believe all the filth that he conjures up every day? He is a truly horrible human being who is profiting off of the misery and despair of other people. I hope he is sued into the next century for all the grief that he has caused.

Whoops, I got things a little wrong; from huffingtonpost: President-elect Donald Trump called Alex Jones, the prominent conservative radio host and conspiracy theorist, to thank him and his followers for their support, Jones said in a video posted Friday.
“Listen, Alex, I just talked to the kings and queens of the world, world leaders, you name it,” Jones recalled Trump saying. “But it doesn’t matter, I wanted to talk to you, to thank your audience, and I’ll be on the next few weeks to thank them.”
Jones has long been on the fringes of the conservative movement, using his radio show and his website, InfoWars.com, to propagate widely debunked or baseless conspiracy theories ― such as the notion that the Clintons are murderers or that mass shootings in recent years were permitted by the government as excuses to strip away Americans’ rights.
But he was also among Trump’s most ardent media allies throughout the president-elect’s often-volatile and controversial campaign. In the video, Jones railed against mainstream news outlets, calling Fox News “fake right-wing news” and labeling CNN “pathetic.” He also praised his own audience for backing Trump.”

Oh wait, I wasn’t wrong. From media matters, 12-2-2015: Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump appeared on Alex Jones’ program, where Trump praised Jones as having an “amazing” reputation and promised, “I will not let you down.” Jones is America’s leading conspiracy theorist — he believes the government was behind 9-11 and several other catastrophes.
Jones’ website Infowars.com has called him “one of the very first founding fathers of the 9-11 Truth Movement,” which believes the government was behind the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001. Jones has also pushed conspiracy theories about the Oklahoma City bombing, the Space Shuttle Columbia disaster, the Boston Marathon bombing, and several mass shootings.
Jones and Trump heavily praised each other during the December 2 interview. Jones claimed Trump has been “vindicated” about his false 9-11 U.S. Muslims celebration claim, said “90 percent” of his audience supports Trump, and told the candidate he’s “shown your knowledge of geopolitical systems.” Jones went on to say that Trump is “a true maverick,” and “what you’re doing is epic. It’s George Washington level.” Trump returned the favor, telling Jones: “Your reputation’s amazing. I will not let you down.”

The propagandists of the Nazi regime that I have learned about used the same techniques. I hope the lawsuit is not tossed out on freedom of expression grounds and than libel laws are upheld in this case.

I think Jones counted on the families not wanting to relive the horror of Newtown in a court of law. It is a shame that the parents are forced to sue him to shut down his vicious lies.
