I LOVE the enthusiasm!! Thanks for the upbeat video. HAPPY NEW YEAR!! Life is better with you in it, Diane. You are the BEST and are working so hard to help this country. I’ll give you my BEST computer hug since that is the best that I can do!!!
This isn’t the beauty of a flash mob but it is a good piece of entertainment. Enjoy!
The Magical Rope Trick
Magician Mac King demonstrates how to perform The Rope Trick that will leave you baffled and confused. He is so good at this that other magicians have never been able to spot how Mac pulls this off. It’s knot easy to perform a magic trick with a rope so I have to imagine that many a magician would like to be as good as Mac is.
” The path to your destiny has “forks in road” that require the imperfect ability to discern the difference between opportunity and pitfalls,” he said. “You will make mistakes in judgment. You will fail often. But remember to make those failures into stepping-stones toward your ultimate success. Never get down on yourself. None of it comes easy, but it gets easier as you travel the path with a good attitude, application by work and your ingenuity.” https://www.opednews.com/articles/Wisdom-From-An-Old-Man-For-by-Frosty-Wooldridge-Birds_Down_Energy_Journeyamerica-180101-896.html
I too was seduced by the varied flash mobs. I watched many on youtube.
I am also reminded that these events/performances are updated versions of what artist Alan Kaprow called “happenings,” midcentury last.
If you are in the snow belt and want to make a “happening.” Try this . Gather your friends to make snow sculpture(s). Chose a theme or not. When you have finished the sculpture(s), paint them with diluted food coloring. Use old sponges, brushes, and don’t forget the wonders of spray painting (use clean, empty spray bottles).
Paint, spray, drip, and splash the food coloring on your sculpture. Make it a three-dimensional painting. Then watch what happens as the snow melts. Make a youtube of your project.
Thanks for the flash mob. Here is something else to make you smile in the new year. If you click the link, you can watch the string band portion of the Mummers Parade from Philadelphia. The Mummers Parade is really the people’s parade. At 118 years it the longest running folk parade in the nation. While the parade has a corporate sponsor for the broadcast, there are no corporate sponsors, only clubs of local people that meet, select a theme and rehearse for months. Mumming in Philadelphia has its roots in 16th century England, and even Shakespeare referenced them. At that time, much of the content was political satire, and the participants dressed up in order to not be identified. Satire continues to be a theme of the funny division which aired this morning. Some of the satirists this morning included Trump and Pence in a clown car and Chris Christie’s beach closing incident. There was even a group made up of teachers, nurses and construction workers that explored the need for universal health care in their performance.
While the original Mummer’s parade was exclusionary with women and minorities barred from participating, today the parade is much more inclusive, and all groups are welcome. This morning there were several African American drum lines, a Puerto Rican conga group and an LBGT group with the theme of super heroes. Being a mummer is a tradition that is often passed down from one generation to another.
If you are going to watch only one part of the parade, you have to see some of the string bands. The parade is a testament to the community and to the power of individuals that band together with a common vision. The parade was almost postponed due to the weather, but it went on as usual, although you may see more buses and vans along the route to give the mummers a break to avoid frost bite.http://phl17.com/live/

I went on to listen to two more. I think I could listen and watch these performances all day. Like a lady in one of them, they bring tears to my eyes.
