Stephen Miller is a 31-year-old man who worked for Jeff Sessions when he was a Senator from Alabama. Now he works in the White House and is rumored to be in line to be the next Communications Director.
Miller is the guy who explained why the Emma Lazarus poem attached to the Statue of Liberty is no longer relevant. That won him plaudits from his colleagues.
John Oliver somehow obtained a tape that was made when Stephen Miller ran for Class President of his high school in uber-privileged Santa Monica. Watch it and you will understand why he was attracted to Sessions, Bannon, and Trump.
By the way, John Oliver’s takedown of rightwing talkshow host Alex Jones (the guy who spread the vicious claim that the Sandy Hook massacre was a hoax) is well worth watching. In fact, it is both informative and hilarious. If you watch, watch it to the very end, where Oliver does a very funny parody sketch.

Hi again, Please highlight what is happening in Kansas today. Our State Board of Education is leading our school redesign …..check it out!! There will be many articles as the day unfolds…..SO EXCITED!!

Please answer my prior questions to your previous post about a week ago or so. If you don’t realize it by clicking on the little bell on the upper right corner next to your photo you will get to see responses to your posts.
Personally, I think this may be some sort of highjacked account/name used for personal gain. Prove me wrong, Dayna by answering my questions.

I just googled it. Lots of gobbledy gook, jargon speak. You may be on to something.

Duane, what’s this about a little bell? Your photo is on the left of your post and there is no little bell.

I’m talking about the bar at the top of the page. At least on mine on the right side it has “write”, my picture, and a bell-that is supposed to but doesn’t always indicate that someone has responded to one of your posts. Maybe it’s different on everyone’s computer/phone/screen.

Yup, it’s different.

I saw that clip with Miller and will not spoil it for anyone who has not but would like to watch it. But it amazes me that anyone would feel comfortable saying what he said in public. Or even think it, for that matter. It speak volumes about his lack of character and decency as well as his views of his fellow man.

The Atlantic magazine offered a detailed account of Steve Miller’s rise from Santa Monica high school to the White House. Miller is credited with writing Trump’s inaugural address including the insulting two lines about teachers who are paid too much and teach “our breautiful children” nothing.

Miller is just one of the vicious, deplorable far right wing gargoyles that make up the Trump mis-administration. Miller is an amoral propagandist who will say anything to cover for all the lies that Trump spews in any given 24 hour period. He’s the equivalent of Hannity, Limbaugh, Mike Savage, Mike Gallagher, Mark Levin, Alex Jones or any of the plethora of far right wing blow hards and hate mongers on talk radio, the Internet or Fox News. These people are a true cancer on our society, they poison and distort the national dialogue.

I never miss john Oliver,. The only way to really learn about the insanity out there is my the ‘comedians’ who nail the satire.
I follow Seth Meyers “A closer Look,” too:

Seth’s “A Closer Look” has cured my Jon Stewart withdrawal symptoms. I dvr it for the next day, but noticed recently that they put it on YouTube earlier in the evening, right after they film it and before it airs.

I miss Jon, too. He and Seth have much in common in the way they approach the news…less ‘shtick’ then John Oliver. I like Trevor, he is so smart (and handsome) but he is script driven. The other are real satirists.

A current University of Chicago professor who used to work as a high school janitor weighed in thusly on Miller — and also on the Miller-like high school kids whom he recalls from his janitor days:
(the replies include comments from people on their respect for janitors in general, and fond memories of specific janitors from their respective schools — something of which Miller has none)

It is so clear to me that Miller is an evil sociopath. The fact that Trump likes him should make Trump repellent to all Americans, not just Democrats.

Oh and here’s a piece about Miller’s effect on his local synagogue:

“(Miller) already had a reputation as a contrarian who was openly anti-immigrant (and, in a widely reported incident, had abandoned one friend because he was Latino). On this day, Miller argued that students shouldn’t have to pick up their own trash — that was janitors’ work. Some found it funny, but the crowd booed Miller off the stage. Gould expected Miller to be deflated afterward.
” ‘But he was ecstatic,’ he recalls. ‘He said it had gone exactly as he’d wanted.’
“Now, Gould, who also is Jewish, struggles with Miller’s newfound power. ‘I can’t begin to explain what it’s like to have actually heard racism come out of the mouth of a person who has influence over legislation in this country,’ he says. Adds Justin Gordon, who attended Hebrew school with Miller, ‘A lot of people who went to school with him are sick to their stomachs.’ ”

REGARDING HIS POLITICS AND BEHAVIOR:

“Trump’s unforgiving antagonism against perceived enemies aligns closely with Miller’s temperament. At Santa Monica High School, he fought with teachers and students about what he saw as unfair liberal bias. He penned furious editorials in the school newspaper. In one, after 9/11, he railed against Islam and said Osama bin Laden would ‘feel at home’ at Samohi.
“After much haranguing, he successfully got school administrators to enforce a state law requiring students to recite the Pledge of Allegiance. He made several appearances on Larry Elder’s conservative talk show and became friendly with conservative writer David Horowitz. He belittled diversity clubs and complained about letting Latino students speak Spanish.
“Often, his ideas fell flat.
” ‘There was a general undercurrent of ‘f— that guy,’ says Jake Zambas, who was a friend of Miller’s and a fellow conservative for a time. ‘If he’d gotten beaten up, it would have just reinforced his narrative.’ “

From age 4, littering was taboo for me. Miller’s attitude to littering at school is unconscionable to me. Yet litter is a huge problem at my school, and probably most public schools. Why is this? Is Miller’s wicked-aristocrat attitude taught in homes? Or is it some families’ more innocent lack of the “cultural software” that habituates kids not to litter?

Having taught for 35 years and witnessed human behavior for even longer, I think I can say that not thinking about others is a non partisan behavior generally carried out without regard to political philosophy. Only recently has recalcitrance been given a political name.
