New York Commissioner MaryEllen Elia has scheduled a hearing to consider the removal of Buffalo School Board member Carl Paladino, who made vile comments about President and Mrs. Obama last winter. The hearing will be held on June 22.
Last December, Paladino was invited to participate in a published discussion of “hopes for 2017.”
His response began like this:
1. Obama catches mad cow disease after being caught having relations with a Herford. He dies before his trial and is buried in a cow pasture next to Valerie Jarret, who died weeks prior, after being convicted of sedition and treason, when a Jihady cell mate mistook her for being a nice person and decapitated her.
2. Michelle Obama. I’d like her to return to being a male and let loose in the outback of Zimbabwe where she lives comfortably in a cave with Maxie, the gorilla.
The Buffalo School Board voted for his ouster, but the decision lies with Elia.
Good. I read about this one about Paladino’s unfounded notions about Barack and Michelle Obama. I mean really. How ridiculous. Paladino has gone ’round the bend and has no business making school policy.
Paladino is not alone. The virus of hate and racism runs deep through the Trump administration and Republican Party.
What’s Elia’s defense for waiting so long?
The allegation from late 2016 is that he disclosed confidential information, obtained during his service as a board member.
The allegation is that he was running against a high school student for re-election to the school board, and he released confidential information about the student to promote his candidacy.
Thanks for the additional info.
Paladino’s comments were both repellent and obscene; however, he serves in an elected office. Interesting First Amendment issue: Is repellent speech “protected speech”? and, I suspect if Elia removes him the litigation will be fascinating. I can’t find any case law on removing a school member for this type of behavior … Maybe the commissioner can require he participate in sensitivity training, with Michelle as the instructor.
