I watched a morning talk show today in which one of the hosts defended Trump’s firing of Yates saying it was her job to support the actions of the President. No mention of Trump’s responsibility to run his proposals past the Justice Department to make sure they were constitutional and could be defended as such if necessary. The host’s contention was she should have known whether it was constitutional without the necessity of being informed of the order ahead of time. I’m sure this host would be glad to have her lawyer to defend her in court without any preparation because they should just “know” the law. Heck, why do we need courts if lawyers all just “know” the law. I wonder why the Supreme Court doesn’t always agree 100%. I presume they all “know” the Constitution.

I didn’t even mention how wrong the host was about the Attorney General’s job. It is not to support the President, whatever nonsense might come out of his mouth, but to inform him of the constitutionality of his proposed actions or, in other words, to uphold the Constitution. The Attorney General serves the people of the United States, not the President. As a matter of fact, isn’t the president supposed to serve the people as well and not just the less than half of the less than half of Americans who voted?

Diane, it’s Sally Yates, not Ann.

The President has a right to make a change in this position. Would Alan Dershowitz be defending Donald Trump as within his rights if it were otherwise?

Alan Dershowitz defended the Bush administration’s torture regime for pity’s sake. I think he long ago forfeited the high ground.

I love Borowitz (I subscribe), & I usually laugh out loud, but this time I can’t. I just can’t.
Especially after the DeVos confirmation news.
