Our blog poet writes about Senator Franken’s statement that no Democrat will vote to confirm DeVos, highlighting contradictions:
“No Democrat will vote”
No Democrat would vote
For testing and for VAM
No Democrat would vote
For any other sham
No Democrat would vote
For Gates and Common Core
No Democrat would vote
For David Coleman lore
No Democrat would vote
For closing public schools
No Democrat would vote
For Arne Duncan rules
No Democrat would vote
For voucher and for charter
No Democrat would vote
To focus on the “smarter”
No Democrat will vote
For rule by billionaire
No Democrat will vote
Tautology is there

Well said.

Clever, as usual.
I hope the “No Democrat would…” becomes the current morality.
We know that some Democrats have played a significant part in enabling the use of taxpayers’ money for the privatization of schools.

The members of DFER would do anything they could to make a profit, but let’s hope the committee members voting on DeVos realize she would be totally unfit for the job.

Retired…Tilson actually said in his last newsletter that he would never vote for Trump and was fairly horrified as to the appointments, particularly DeVos. Politics makes for very strange bedfellows.

A tautology is not in keeping with diverse principals of being a democrat. This ideaology is WHY we’ve been trumped. BTW – not in support of DeVos. But do support some of the line items. (ie Gates and common core.) That item is working to level the educational playing field. By removing a base standard that exists in elite education, you will end up with the 1% still controlling the US because the other 99% won’t be able to read and write clearly. Just saying.

I am already one of the 99% who cannot read or write clearly. A lot of the princiPALS vote republican. People who have no idea how much ideology is involved with what Gates and Duncan are able to promote keep the taughtology intact by excusing Obama from some dreadful mistakes regarding education.

Thank you, Poet. Duncan and Obama went off for an eight year vacation with Gates and Coleman. All we got was a souvenir education secretary named Betsy.

Thanks!
Now if the poet could think of something really good we could chant at protests. We’re going to need something….

If I might take the liberty to reword what Diane Ravitch has said

A common public good
They aren’t for the businesses
But for the neighborhood
