During his press conference, Trump said he has turned his businesses over to his sons. That eliminates any possibility of conflict of interest. He said.
Right. His sons will receive business offers they never dreamed of.
He he also acknowledged that Russia did the hacking but said it was the fault of the DNC for lacking proper protection.
Does this surprise anyone? It’s something every day, how his supporters can’t see that is beyond me. Oh, wait, they have to get their fake news first, then they will believe it.
Is that like blaming the cheating on the student who didn’t cover his paper enough during the test instead on the student copying the answers?
“He he also acknowledged that Russia did the hacking….”
Well, sort of. His official statement:
“In a statement, he acknowledged that “Russia, China, other countries, outside groups and people are consistently trying to break through the cyber infrastructure of our governmental institutions, businesses and organizations including the Democrat(ic) National Committee.””
Of course Russia, China and other countries and outside groups and people are consistently trying to break through our cyber infrastructure. Duh. We’re trying to do the same to them. That’s how it works.
Not his “official” statement: what he said in person. Well, yes, Russia did the hacking, but lots of other countries also hack. In this case, he affirmed that the Russian government (not some 400 lb guy in NJ sitting on his bed) hacked the DNC but it was their fault for lacking security
He is Putin’s president.
And his poll numbers are down to 37%.
You seem so eager to legitimize this fraud.
Victim blaming and victim shaming. Quite predictable from someone who laughed about his own sexual assaults on women.
He is right about the hacking. As it is the hacking at the different government sections, as well.
It is the USERS who create the openings, most often. It is the USERS who ignore warnings from IT specialists about never, ever to share professional passwords – not even with family. What you do with your own email accounts etc. is your problem. But the moment you send your password to someone you do not know, you have violated security.
DNC was made aware of the fact their system was hacked. And did… NOTHING. “We thought it was a prank…”
With all the personal data that has been stolen in the last few years, no IT specialist should be allowed to keep his job for thinking, “It’s just a prank.”
Did the Russians hack the RNC emails? Oh, I forgot, the GOP has much better IT specialists and virtual walls against hacking (sarcasm alert).
Yes they did .
I am sure that the RNC has more protection than JP. Morgan
I am also sure that the tooth fairy put those quarters under my pillow 60 years ago.
Equivalent to blaming a sexy woman for being raped. Scary. Fact is, no one is safe anymore from hacking or crime and blaming the victim dies nothing to solve the problem peroetrated by criminals.
Diane: Truly holy way to handle his affairs (in the “full of holes” meaning of that term).
About the emoluments clause–his representative (aka mouthpiece) accepting payment for a hotel bill is not a breach of that clause. Okay. I guess that means that the heads of state from other countries (aka tyrants) cannot direct everyone under their power to never use another kind of hotel (except Trump holdings)–I guess THAT has nothing to do with breaking that clause (aka kissing Rump-Rings).
Holy, Holy Holy.
The other thing is–my guess is that the lawmakers who exempted the President from the restrictive laws of government employees, e.g., nepotism, assumed that anyone who made it to the Presidency would be an honorable person, not to mention a patriot–it’s probably just another sign of our demise, considering that their misnomer law people (aka “lawyers”) are not working with a man of honor nor a patriot, but rather with a demagogue who will take advantage of every soft-spot or loophole they can find–and if they can’t find one, they’ll manufacture it. Lawyers and even “lawyers” are good at that sort of thing.
The demagogue came out of the closet with Trump’s treatment of the fake news Press (aka: CNN). We’re back on the best communications roller coaster in history. Fake news. Fake president.
Post Script to my post: Trump knows what’s true about what he is calling fake news. Perhaps Putin will get pissed off enough about what’s being said about Putin/Russia in the hearings that they’ll release the videos (of what they have on Trump).
If they don’t, then they know, like we do, that what we are being fed in the hearings is just so much fluff geared to pat-the-heads of the American people.
“(in the “full of holes” meaning of that term).”
I agree that being holy is holey!
Duane: I spelled holey wrong? But it was fun anyway.
I was just having fun with a little honest mistake, that’s all Catherine. Please take with the humor intended!
Duane: You hurt my feelings. . . . (just kidding) I am too dependent on the little red line.
Well, after watching that freak show of a press conference, anyone who thinks this will not likely be the most authoritarian, fascist, and corrupt presidency ever and that the American experiment is in danger of failing is delusional at best. Or complicit.
GregB: Chuck Todd said the press conference seemed normative–recognizing clearly that the “seemed” was a cover for its actual contra-reality. The tri-part power structure of the U.S. Government, however, is REALLY problematic for Trump. Until Trump and his “helpers” start channeling Putin (for instance, shooting contrary people in the head), it’s going to be an uphill climb for Trump. But that’s the point. We’ll see who caves.
I’ve never seen a press conference like that in my life. Truly incredible!
Mamie Krupczak Allegretti: Me either. But I guess we’ve never had a bonafide’, open-faced and in-your-face demagogue before either.
agreed
Every morning I try to tell myself it can’t get worse and then by every evening, it does.
GregB: Yes. It’s like playing whack-a-mole with Darth Vadar.
Meant to put “press conference” in quotes. Had me yearning for the transparency and honesty of a Brezhnev Politburo spectacle.
“Freak show” is right…with the token ‘non-gropable’ woman lawyer standing and reading off her list of Making America Great Again factoids, next to dozens of reams of paper as a set dressing. Are voters that dumb that a vast stack of paper would influence them to believe tRump has actually divested anything?
“reams of paper:” It’s a tried and true Republican prop designed to both satiate and confuse their minions.
About as dumb as when 2,000 pages were introduced as the best healthcare plan ever…
Uday and Qusay will be running the families business. Which mainly consists of using their positions to extract sexual favors . Saddam will completely divest himself from the business except for the occasional nights he escapes the palace guard and the press corps . To partake in a little water sports.
On a more serious note, I do not think we have heard the last of the implications of yesterdays news releases. Pictures to follow ?????
In addition we should be demanding Comey explain why even after being asked to not interfere in an election he did. Only to vindicate Clinton after the damage was done. Yet a 2 months after the election is still mum on Trump campaign ties to Russia. After it was revealed that this dossier was delivered to him back in August by McCain.
Further Fact check . I
“Vice President‐designate Nelson A. Rockefeller, arriving for the start, tomorrow morning of his confirmation hearing, said again today that he would be “delighted” to do whatever Congress asked to resolve any potential conflict of interest—including placing his holdings in a blind trust.” VOX
How about your taxes Donald.
family’s
Now you’re talking, Joel. The camera zeroed in on Comey’s lackluster expression…but why isn’t he being called for public testimony about his part in feeding into all this. Has media and Congress forgotten about the FBI role in influencing, purposefully, the outcome of the election?
“Uday and Qusay”: The only way I refer to the co-dauphins from now on.
Finally I’m laughing.
Joel, Comey should be investigated and brought up on charges for violating the Hatch Act.
YES…
But what are the odds that he will be? We can hope, though, Ellen.
It’s possible this group represents the opposite of the title of the group. A Trojan Horse with a goal to mislead.
Lloyd Lofthouse If I understand you correctly, I think maybe after experiencing Trump, anyone seems sane and even halfway reasonable.
Interesting observation. After Trump and his team of White House Deplorables get done destroying the U.S., that is if no one in the GOP steps up to block him at his worst, even Charles Manson might be considered a better choice.
All of this is awful enough, and rightly reported upon. However, the trip back to the 50’s is being ignored: Trump, after talking about how professionally his sons would run his businesses, stated that Ivanka would need to spend time settling her children into school and the White House. Sigh.
Why is that so “50’s?”
