House Republicans on Monday voted to eviscerate the Office of Congressional Ethics, the independent body created in 2008 to investigate allegations of misconduct by lawmakers after several bribery and corruption scandals sent members to prison.
What’s worse, they are trying to keep their votes a secret.
While the House GOP stripped the new rule today once their efforts were exposed, it is still extremely important to find out which members voted to gut the Office of Congressional Ethics in the first place. Knowing who’s willing to take this step will be key to stopping them from trying again in the future.
I am working with the Sunlight Foundation, Demand Progress, and dozens of other groups so we can track who voted to gut their own ethics agency. If Republicans are going to try gut the office that checks corruption in Congress, we deserve to know who voted to make it happen.
Please CALL your Member of Congress and ask the staffer that answers: “Did you vote for the Goodlatte Amendment to gut the Office of Government Ethics?” Report what the Congressmember told you and we’ll add to the public whipsheet.
Click here to find the phone number of your Member of Congress, and to report what happened when you called.

Secret votes to gut oversight of Congressional corruption should not be tolerated. When you call, be sure to say that you’re a constituent, be polite, and ask if they voted for the Goodlatte Amendment to gut the Office of Government Ethics.
Thank you,

Dea May, I just said to my husband that you must be busy, because you have been invisible for a while, spirit-sister.
Thanks for your kind wishes. I will ‘tawk’ to you about ‘wuz up,’ in an email… and send some photos that I have been editing for an on-line collection. So few people know that I am a photographer and an artist.
Much love and light!

Listen folks… the first thing that I thought when I read about this shameless act, was I WANT TO KNOW WHO VOTED FOR THIS, and I want everyone to know who they are…i want it go viral….and then ONE LADY got active and this appeared on the Diane Ravitch blog

“Washington (CNN)President-elect Donald Trump dramatically strong-armed House Republicans into line Tuesday in his first Washington power play, after they voted to gut an ethics watchdog in a manner that undercut his vow to drain the establishment “swamp.”
Trump made clear his anger at the move on his Twitter account, and GOP lawmakers hurriedly changed plans to target the independent panel, backing down in a controversy that threatened to overshadow the dawn of a new conservative era in Washington.”
Interesting that bit of info.
Two bits said it will be done in a midnight back room deal stuck in the middle of an appropriations bill.

It is uncanny the ability of Republicans, after winning a great victory, to commence their reign by shooting themselves in the publicity foot. Good for Trump to remind them about the bigger fish to fry.
But, as with Susan, I too want to know what fools proposed removing the independence of the committee. I am looking forward to further posts on this.

None you’ve been played.
Somewhere in a dark room far far away. Republicans gather to discuss rules and the first thing they do is get rid of the ethics panel
Now I would set up the guillotine to deal with the Republicans after we storm the Bastille. So there is no love lost.
But even they are not stupid, a moron could see the optics.ON DAY ONE!! . So first they announce that the leadership opposed the move . Good their covered . Well its closed doors so everybody else is covered.
Than Donald the Great, Donald the ethical, comes out to save the day. Slaying the slugs in the swamp with his cell phone. . See he is not the stinkiest creature in the swamp.

(3) How can I use it to make me look good, . . . you know, like I am a magnanimous stud?

Somehow, the local Salt Lake City media was able to learn that all four House members from Utah voted to gut the commission, so perhaps other local media outlets in other places are able to figure out the same thing:

Ohio’s Congressional representative, Steve Chabot, doesn’t have the honor nor decency to report how he voted. Great sacrifices were made for his and my country. Yet, he is too cowardly to own his vote. American democracy has been hijacked by politicians in D.C.
