This is a lovely Christmas story. A true story. A girl made a wish a century ago. Her letter was found. Her wish has been answered. A long forgotten girl and woman has been remembered.
In this selfish and mean-spirited time, when lives are heedlessly wasted, it is good to be reminded of simple human goodness. Old-fashioned ideas like compassion, kindness. What would life be like without them?
It wouldn’t be life in trump land
The good news is that the world is FILLED with good.
Everywhere around us good people do good things for one another – independent of the calendar.
This story would make a good Hallmark holiday movie.
Lovely story. Thanks for sharing. I am sure there are many stories which could, should be shared of people, anonymous people but with great stories also.
With all the uproar going on now it is GREAT to hear of REAL people who do great things.but their stories go untold.
For me, there is so much emphasis nowadays on worshiping the golden calf that selflessness “helps to make the season bright”.
Just before I read this story I read the letter In a Christmas card from my centenarian friend Thelme. She told me knowing me and my family was one of the great blessings of her 100 years. Then this wonderful story. It is Christmas Eve folks. Santa has already been here. He told me to tell you that there is wonder and goodness in the world. Peace to you all.
We believe in Santa, but let’s not mention God as the source of peace and goodness and kindness.
What a strange world we live in…
Happy Holiday to you, Rudy Schellekens
Beauty is in the eye of the beholders,
if you are strange in a way, then your expression will reflect the way you feel, as in “What a strange world we live in…” Back2basic
You mistake me my friend. Please do not create argument where there is none. A beneficent God is my first and basic belief. In so many ways that force of goodness and truth tells us to love one another.
