Woodbury Leadership Academy is a troubled charter school in Minnesota. It has had three principals in less than a year. Its latest hire as school director took a payout at his last job and moonlights as a psychic.
This may turn out to be a very valuable skill for a charter school leader.
I wonder if the psychic is fully certified.
I wonder if the school will be billed for consultations.
Certified or certifiable, oops, that would be the authorizers….
That’s funny–but Oh God (ahem), what about the children.
BTW, a good number of Catholics are on-board with the privatization thing–because they understand that “secular religion” is trying to control and possibly eliminate religious education in the US. Catholic ed has its own set of problems but has been around and worked well, moderating the tension between government regulations and Catholic education, much longer that our present raft of billionaires. I fear, however, that many (most?) have drunk the poison, so to speak, of the constant attacks on “the government” and public education.
To be followed by other new administrative hires: Director of tea leaves, phrenology and grit, Commander of crystals and mouth bubbles, and Liaison to the Dark Arts, whose job is to find that really dark money that can’t be traced.
You need a scammer in order to properly run a scam. Maybe he can see the future of dollars flowing in.
Not surprised. I’ve seen charter operators who’ve hired parents dropping off the kids as substitute teachers, signed up inexperienced board members/founders as contract teachers (no credential required), and made kids clean up gutters as punishment under the supervision of an unvetted neighbor of the school.
Charter schools – they make their own rules.
How sad.
From what I have read about modern American history, Nancy Reagan used to consult psychics for her own use, and then would parlay the psychics’ advice to inform her husband’s political practices. I really wonder if this was the case, but articles do state this.
In this charter school’s case, how utterly sad and despicable. I pity the students and faculty. It almost reads like one of those gossipy stories you get from a British tabloid.
This sounds like something out of the HBO (comedy) Vice Principals, which is totally outrageous (I love it!).
But Woodbury “Leadership” Academy is not a comedy. Actually, it is a tragedy.
I don’t know, this strikes me as a cheap shot. Comments to the article suggest Strassberg has considerable positive public-school experience. Who knows, we don’t have his CV at hand. Would we automatically ding him (or even hear about the issue) if he were assuming a public-ed position? Maybe I’m just too New-Agey to care. Hey I used to cast horoscopes when I worked at an engrg co & folks begged me for them LOL.The aspect of this that requires looking into IMO is that he has another business, & how much time & attention that might steal from the job. One might assume in fact the school has addressed that with their new hire. Or not. I just question the automatic opprobrium heaped on this guy without knowing anything else about him.
