A few weeks ago, Troy LaRaviere was removed as principal of Blaine Elementary School by officials at the Chicago Public Schools headquarters. He had previously been warned about his boldness in criticizing the school system and Mayor Rahm Emanuel. LaRaviere openly campaigned for Emanuel’s opponent, Chuy Garcia, and for Bernie Sanders.
In this post, LaRaviere explains how and why he was removed from his school.
It reads like the latest issue of “True Detective.”
It exemplifies the thuggery that is often called “the Chicago Way.”

I feelsorry for this principal. If only he could have done what the principals in NYC were able to d, like Carmen F– follow the directives and remove the tenured teachers ASAP, and follow the commands from on high..which in her case came from Klein and Bloomberg, not Emmanual.

This clearly illustrates why so many are afraid to speak out. Retaliation can be swift and merciless.
I support Troy completely but also empathize with those who don’t have a spouse’s income or an inheritance or a public personae to fall back on if they are terminated and their professional status is ruined.
We need to have each other’s backs and our unions and other professional organizations should be providing funds and help to those victimized for standing up and speakng out instead of kissing up to our avowed enemies.
Revolution may be coming and freedom will be fought for and eventually won but be prepared for these sad casualties and don’t back down!

Thanks AFT and NEA for endorsing yet another politician who is an enemy of public schools, public school teacher and administrators, and who is neck-deep in moneyed interests that are succeeding in destroying us.

That’s okay. The Mayor managed to unite Chicago after all- they’re united in their belief he’s doing a bad job:
“The people of Chicago are deeply riven by race, class and neighborhood, distrustful of the police, fearful of the growing rate of violent crime and united chiefly in their disapproval of the mayor’s performance and their conviction that the city is headed down the wrong track.”
Maybe he should join up with Donald Trump. That seemed to work for Chris Christie, who was another ed reform phenom. Maybe they should try “basic competence” first and then graduate to “bold innovation”.

It’s hard to speak truth to power when the power is corrupt. Failing to honor due process rights and maligning educators who are truly doing their job for children is the truth of this era. The thinking here is like the shock doctrine, come in and force rapid, illegal, unethical activities and by the time the opposition organizes to stop it, the criminals are gone with all the money and the system is broke beyond repair. Politicians, corporations, people with power have brought into this approach. We have to quickly shut this process down and punish those who deliberately shut down legitimate and lawful systems through these highly unethical, illegal means.

In other words, Rahm is a douche bag who needs to be shut down and prosecuted for all his illegal activities. All the other Rahm’s in cities across Anerica, same. Seems like the only people who get prosecuted are those who agree to take the fall while the real criminals, like Rahm sit back and wait for the next thing they can fluck up..

The more light that gets shined on this, the better. I don’t doubt for a moment, however, that CPS will fabricate something, anything, to keep the status quo and smear him.

No politician who represented the 99%, would be on the campaign-raising DFER Site, which is backed by hedge funds.
Rahm is at “DFER List”, where his wealthy cronies can “max out” their contributions to him. His website photo shows a man dressed for rounds of golf with his 0.1% friends.

Several of us commented on this blog, quite a while ago, that it was only a matter of time. The question was not “if” Troy would be removed from his position, but “how” — and what he would do after it happened.
We have a simple saying among freedom fighters:
Keep fighting.
Troy, like a real hero, knows he must never stop fighting!
