Time to laugh!
Terry Castle is an accomplished writer and Walter A. Haas Professor in the Humanities at Stanford University. She and her partner were invited to a fundraising party for Hillary Clinton at a swanky Palo Alto abode. She has written a hilarious account of their attendance at the party.
I can’t reproduce any samples because part of its impact and humor come from her use of typefaces and wordplay. I think you will laugh.

Terrific account, and I laugh with tears in my eyes…and here is another article on the Clintons and their money. Go Bernie!!!

That’s the funniest piece I have read for a long time. Should be put on the non-fiction list for Common Core ELA.

This is a terrific piece of satire, peppered with a heavy dose of British wit. I was reminded about my own HRC encounter in 2008 under different circumstances. I attended a fundraiser for her at Radio City Music Hall. I didn’t go to see Hillary so much as to hear Sir Elton John, who sponsored the fundraiser, perform. Elton John was awesome; it was just Sir Elton and a piano. My husband and I had great seats despite buying them on a whim at the last minute from someone on Craigslist. Elton gushed about how Hillary was the best choice for America, and Hillary, her pantsuit, and her “silver fox” made a brief appearance thanking Sir Elton for his efforts. The Clintons also said a few words about her campaign and message. She seemed poised to be the first woman president then , but the voters and Obama had a different idea.

Funny, but not very . . .
Any money raised for Shillary is a scam . . . . Just ask George Looney and his wife Amal-gam.

Amusing as a story, but it sounds like Terry loves the Hilldebeest at the end of it all. I don’t understand the maniacal support given to HRC by so many women. Oh, well. Terry writes exceedingly well!

Susan Sarandon, a Sanders supporter said it best to the women expecting her to support HRC. “I don’t vote with my vagina.”

I think the message is a bit more ambivalent than that.
Like any good poet, Terry allows us to read her work in many ways, depending upon our personal experience. I loved this bit, and I’m as firm a Bernie supporter as anyone.

So great! During an earlier iteration of my life I had the chance to organize a number of events like this with Bill, Hillary, Paul (Newman), Robert (Redford) and each one had backstories like this – was so much fun reading it – thanks for posting Diane

Sorry Ellen. I clicked on to the blue icon but nothing came up. I do not take Harpers but vaguely remember hearing about the article. I HAVE heard from Linktv and Freespeech TV similar things that I THINK the Harpers article had in mind plus in other “progressive” magazines too. I believe that most of the general public are uninformed or ill informed about these kinds of things. It is late Sunday evening so do not know if you will read this or not.

Simply a wonderful belly laugh!
On a far more serious note, our friends at Democracy Now! have a very important post on the return of that ’80’s show called American Interventions in Latin America, starring Secretary Clinton. It’s long, and disturbing if you know much about our previous adventures in our so-called “back yard”, but worth watching until the end.
