Arne Duncan asked for parent engagement. He got more than he bargained for.
Read the tweets. Arne should really stay far, far away from parents. They don’t like what he has done to their children.

People like him want parent engagement a la sit there and do what we tell you to do. They do. I want parent engagement in the democratic process or in advocating for the rights of their children. So far, Americans still have rights and these people are going to have to stop the deception, manipulation, and general crap sooner or later!

Arne Duncan really does represent what is fundamentally wrong with United States k-12 education. He is a man with virtually no experience as a teacher or expertise in the field of education. And yet he was appointed to the highest education job in the nation. Why?
I’ll tell you why: it is because education in our country is not highly valued, especially for the children of the poor. When a president appoints a successful and experienced EDUCATOR (any level) as Secretary of Education, we can expect to see some progress.

“Corporate Education Reform” began with the politicizing of education by the polemic non-peer reviewed document “Nation at Risk” which was written by no professional experience in education. Whether it is hubris or greed, the lunacy of trusting education reform to non-educators is harming children and our country.

Do u really think so.?Teachers who refuse to be evaluated, who bridle at any effort to make them accountable, while being protected from discipline and firing? Do you think educators have done less damage than a DoEd secretary? Please give that some thought, madame.

For example? I taught for 44 years in rural, suburban, and urban settings from pre-school to high school and never heard of a teacher who refused to be evaluated, bridled at being accountable, who rejected a fair discipline, or who was protected from being fired. Regarding the last–protected from firing: I know of really bad supervision of teachers causing the courts to reject the firing of one teacher. Give that some thought. Who is actually responsible? Maybe it is the taxpayer who refuses to adequately support schools, leading to overworked administrators who do not have time to do their jobs properly.

I suggest you do some background readings on Duncan about series of his reckless proposals, funding schemes, and gaffes. You don’t have to be educational professional in discerning his fatally flawed education policy that only harms millions of students, teachers, and parents nationwide.

Teachers do get evaluated. Tenure doesn’t protect us from accountability. The problem isn’t the teachers. It’s the people who aren’t educators and running the show….right into the ground

For me, I just wonder if he really believes in what he is promoting, is that ignorant, or just what his motivation is.
Whatever his motivation, he is really way off track.
[I am sure that is news to all on this blog.] LOL

Arne doesn’t want to engage anyone. He just wants to give orders for his ridiculous policies and to keep giving our public schools away to ptivatizers. I feel like after the real estate market crashed, Obama decided to give the schools to Wall Street to give them another way to make money!

I wonder what happened to the advisor who suggested that he “engage” parents?
