Stephanie Simon interviewed State Superintendent John White, who blasted Governor Bobby Jindal for dropping Common Core and PARCC testing. White said that Jindal was denying children their “civil rights.” Isn’t it weird how these privatizers like to use “civil rights” as a rhetorical weapon without any meaning? It used to refer to the right to attend a desegregated school, the right to vote, the right to be equal before the law, now it is allegedly means the right to take the same standardized test? Since it is a well-demonstrated fact that standardized tests favor those whose family income and family education are high, one could easily argue that a concern for civil rights requires an education in which standardized tests are minimized or completely absent.
Here is the summary of the Simon interview. It links to politico.pro, a website with a big paywall. I inquired about subscribing and was told it costs $3,400. [Breaking: Stephanie Simon informed that the story about the interview is now available free, not behind a paywall. It is here.]
“JINDAL TAKING FIRE: Louisiana State Superintendent John White told POLITICO in an interview that Gov. Bobby Jindal is breaking the law, trampling the state constitution and crushing the dreams of low-income and minority students by trying to scrap the Common Core and PARCC exams. The two state leaders previously worked hand-in-hand on far-reaching education reforms, expanding the state’s school voucher program and standing together during a federal investigation into the program. Jindal and White lambasted the Obama administration for investigating the voucher program, saying the federal government was violating the civil rights of the mostly black, low-income students in the program. But now White is turning that rhetoric on Jindal. “It is high irony,” White said, “that people who support the civil right to choose a school don’t support the civil right to have all students take the same test.” He added pointedly: “Lowering expectations comes in many forms.” Stephanie Simon has the story: http://politico.pro/1wzkUoY”
“- Jindal spokesman Mike Reed dismissed White’s allegations. White’s education department is violating the law, he said. “These accusations are silly,” Reed said. “Under Louisiana law, the Louisiana Department of Education is required to issue a request for a proposal for an assessment, and the department has not done that. The department needs to abide by Louisiana law, do its job and issue an RFP.”

I can’t stand either one of them. Let’s settle it with a cage match. To the death.

After success with one law suit based on a flawed Civil Rights claim in a California court, this is now the battle cry of the fake education reformers who care nothing about children but do care about profits and the fortunes they will make off the backs of tax payers.

Hmmmm. Since Jinal is White’s boss, it makes me wonder who is really behind this campaign. I would bet White and his DFER friends are doing Duncan’s and the WH’s bidding just like Cuomo was the front man for Eva. So the big question is, why isn’t Jindal firing him and why isn’t White handing in his resignation instead of embarrassing Jindal at every turn?

The answer is simple: White is a crook working for crooks and crooks have no conscience. They don’t play by the rules of an honest person. They play dirty to win. Jindal will have to be ruthless and do all he can to beat White or White will destroy him if it is possible.
What is at stake? the end goal of the fake education reform movement and it is clear they will stop at nothing to achieve their agenda

Why hasn’t Jindal fired White? If I speak out against the Common Core in my state, I am fired and lose my license. Shouldn’t White, who is speaking very publicly against new state policy, receive the same?

May depend on state law. Maybe Jendal can’t fire White without going to court and/or support from state legislature.
Or, Jendal is unwilling to fire him. If so, Jendal will lose. Jenal may not realize this the fake education reform movement is a national war against the public schools and that he has now become a target of that group of billionaires. How much will Bill Gates donate to see that Jendal loses this one?

White is trained by the billionaire Eli Broad at his superintendent school Check out the school on the internet it’s a stronghold where they train the supt. how to destroy the unions and teachers, bring in charters, etc. break the unions and the teachers. Deasy the supt. of Los Angeles is also a graduate of this school. He testified at the vergara trial and is trying to break the LA union through the courts. These people are all in this together and are the architects of reform along with Gates and other rich men. Believe me in LA where Eli Broad lives the teachers are all to familiar with his school and his bias. He’s trying to place these superintendents all over the country to take down public education, unions and teachers. None of his graduates are educators of any great experience. I doubt if Jindal can stand up to the powers that be that put White into that position. They are pretty powerful people and usually get their way.

Perhaps White has the keys to the closet where Jindal’s skeletons lie. If we are lucky they will both wind up in jail, a modified mutually assured destruction in play. Here’s hoping!

John White is the darling of the Eli Broad superintendent school. He is a TFA only teacher, with little educational experience. The Eli Broad school pushes charters, privatization, elimination of teacher unions, and of course common core. It’s not surprise that he is raving and ranting at Jindal as they pretty well thought they had that whole state dancing to their tune. I love to see dissension in the ranks hopefully it’ll help the reform movement to crumble one state at a time.

In Louisiana the Governor can’t fire the Superintendent of schools. The state school board can, but right now there are more pro-CC members than anti-CC.

But the Governor controls the budget.
