Crazy Crawfish has gotten wind of test score manipulation in the Louisiana Department of Education. He believes employees were directed to scrub the scores to make Néw Orleans and the Recovery School District look good, while making traditional schools look bad. Only a few high-level employees are in the know. He calls on them to blow the whistle now.

If true, this will be one more bit of evidence that, to the deformers, the ends justify the means….the ends being the privatization of formerly “public” education and the monetizing of children.

Ask for a Freedom of Information Act request. AP Reporter Tom LoBianco in Indianapolis blew former Indiana “Mr. Reformy Idol” Dr. Tony Bennett out of the water when he filed a FOIA request for Bennett’s and the Indiana DOE e-mails. There in plain view for everyone to see, was Bennett and his staff raising the grade of a charter school (which incidentally was founded by one of his GOP campaign donors). The ensuing scandal causing Bennett to resign as chancellor of Florida in August 2013).
Reformers, edu-exploiters, charter-lovers, voucher supporters…liars, all of them!

Why doesn’t Bennett face charges? Teachers who allegedly changed grades have been charged.

I’m certain that Nahlins would be the only place this sort of thing might be happening…. Manipulate a sacred public trust? Certainly not! This is America, where corporations are educators, too.

As “bilgewater” above notes: we in Indiana suffered through the same kind of shenanigans. How VERY TRAGIC that education, the search for truth, has been hamstrung by political intrigue.

We are talking Louisiana politics at its finest. Freedom of information is a joke at LA Dept. of Ed. The only information is the spin they choose to put out, and our LA media machine repeats it word for word. Data and information mysteriously disappear. Never to be seen again. Boy blunder, John White is a genius! Gov. Jindal is nowhere to be found. Anyone curious how all of these so called education superintendents have been allowed to take over education with no formal educational certification? Wolves in sheep’s clothing protecting our children???

So that’s where Tony Bennett went. 🙂

Not surprised that John White would cook the books. He has never had problems with lying, so data manipulation would be just another step down the road.

It will be difficult to trace anything inside the hallowed halls of LDOE (via FOIA) because White has a tight hand on emails and phone calls by employees. I understand they are restricted for both and I am sure monitored. However, I will try. Our best hope is for the whistleblowers to speak out not only to end this fiasco but to save their own skins because knowing and NOT telling makes them complicit. Come to think of it, a few emails reminding them of that might be effective. To work.
