Taking Back OUR Schools Rally & March – NYC Metro
May 17 @ 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm

“Declaration, Protest, Successes, and Call to Action”
Calling all NYC Metro Area community activists, the “voices of resistance”, families, students, civil rights advocates, voters, immigrant families, policymakers and legislators, union members, teachers, faith leaders, and all communities that believe in a good public education for all!
Join us in a march and rally seeking to create & sustain a public school system that provides a fully funded, equitable, community-based education for every child. This means that decisions about our children’s schooling would be made democratically by families and professional educators, free of corporate and political intervention.

Quick, Dr. Ravitch, have your people fix the date in the headline. -R
Ohhhhhh…. Is that what everyone was marching for on March 17th? I thought it was for St. Patrick’s himself.
Obviously, Diane meant MAY 17th.. which is tomorrow!
Planning on attending. Metro North better cooperate tomorrow. Ugg!
march 17?????????????
And it will be a beautiful day. Come show your respect and love for Diane by coming and hearing her message as she recuperates from knee surgery.
Wish I could be there.
Praying for a great turnout!
Everyone attending, regardless of the numbers, promises a great turnout! Can’t wait to stand shoulder to shoulder with all those that attend tomorrow’s rally!
Where is this taking place? No location given.
The steps of City Hall
Where is the rally being held in NYC?
City Hall Park in Lower Manhattan
I see no tea party organizations have signed up. I wonder why. Surely their support would be welcome.
I’ll be there in spirit. But really, Arizona needs its own Diane!!
Thank you, I expect to be in Phoenix for the Arizona School Boards Association meeting in December. As I write this, I smile with anticipation because I am flat on my back in a hospital bed with one leg in a rotating device for mobility.
Thank you Diane for your wonderful message which Leonie Haimson delivered beautifully. I hope from your hospital bed you heard us all cheering and chanting. If not, I’m sure somebody taped it for you. Thank you for everything you do! Healing thoughts, love and prayers are being sent to you!
Thank you, Mary
I heard it in my heart
I was listening
Looks like NYSUt was on their “member driven march” to some other destination. AGAIN. Anyone noticing they don’t do much unless it’s their party and they can hand randi a bullhorn?
So…how did the rally go?

Joe1150, I hear reports that the rally at City Hall was a great success. I am in hospital so could not be there but those who were there were thrilled
Dear Diane, Thanks for your wonderful message yesterday. As always, your words fit the bill perfectly. I came with a handful of students that I teach at PACE High School in Lower Manhattan and they were captivated by your words. When you started listing all the things that all students and schools need–a choir with a choir director, a library with well-stocked shelves and a professional librarian, guidance counselors and social workers–two of my students chimed in together, “and a school nurse!” The kids know. They know that they deserve more.Thank you for your advocacy.
Thank you, David!
