Melissa Harris-Perry did this review of the Tony Bennett grade-fixing scandal in Indiana. This is the kind of mainstream media attention that is helping to unravel the corporate reform narrative.

It’s about time MSNBC started telling the truth about education. Their corporate master, NBC, and its corporate masters, are part of the corporate reform oligarchy that produces such anti-public education bs as “education nation.” Ed Schultz has been good, and now Chris Hayes is doing the occasional good piece, but Melissa has been MIA. In fact, one of her first shows featured an interview with Eva Moskowitz. I kept waiting for her to break the link between her — and her avowed progressivism — and the phony “Democrats” who have allied with the Right Wing corporate education agenda. Not a peep. She should be bashing Arne Duncan in every show. HE is the leader of the corporatists who are ruining public education for poor and minority kids. She lives in, and touts, New Orleans, yet I don’t recall any piece she’s done exposing the educational disaster that poor children in that city have to endure.
Very disappointing. I guess the corporate cat’s got her tongue.
The lesson in Tony Bennett is that the electorate ought to be trusted more by progressives. Policies dictated by technocrats or autocrats need broad understanding and review – in education or otherwise.
Few politicians are that good of a liar. Ultimately the wisdom of the crowd, like with Bennett in Indiana, asserts inself.
Upton Sinclair: “It is difficult to get a man to understand something, when his salary depends upon his not understanding it!” It’s even more difficult to mask his true intentions.
We need to thank her and BEG for more! We need to educate the general public!
