Governor Scott Walker is a hard-right conservative who wants a market-based school system–or no system at all, just a free market where consumers go to any provider they want. Despite the failure of vouchers in Milwaukee, Walker is pushing for statewide vouchers. He is getting his way, step by step. I wonder if he knows that Wisconsin public schools–which he deplores–have the HIGHEST
graduation rate in the nation?
This is far from a done deal and many are working here in Wisconsin against it.
ASSEMBLY LINE EDUCATION.
BULL
Have any of you ever worked on an assembly line?
Here they come…the Products….
Quality Control…This one no good..toss it..this one recycle..do over…these are ready to go..pack’em up…send’em out…
Her they come…the Students..
Quality Control…No good test score…toss it
Borderline Test..do-over..(but he/she never gets to see what they did
wrong on the first test.
This one..Got enough answers right…send them to the world to find
the area of book bags and the maximum size of a pig pen….or better
yet….find out how much it costs to mail an empty box of textbooks as
they do on some Testing Site that supposedly has critical thinking
questions.. Bull again!!
I’ve worked in a factory and the workers had only a few seconds to either trim the eyes from the pineapple or can them. Everything is the same. Imagine 8 hours standing on concrete with loud noises and the fore person yelling at you to hurry up. This is what schools are today…hurry up and do those skill and drill sheets in preparation for those tests and don’t critically think.
Yes, Diane Ravitchbis right about the corporatization of America’s public schools and the factory model.
I think our politicians just mouth what others tell them to say or what they want people to hear. Democracy is a farce in this country.
