Please read this statement by Bennett Kayser.
He ran against a heavily funded candidate for the Los Angeles school board, and he won.
He is a public school parent.
He is endorsing Monica Ratliff, because she too is running against the billionaires’ candidate.
He believes that the LAUSD school board should have another independent voice.
Local school board elections should not be bought by outside interests who have no connection to the district, the community or the city.
The only thing that can beat them is an informed public.
actually, kayser was UTLA’s second choice for the spot, the union spent roughly the same amount on the race as villaraigosa and his team did, and the campaign was against kayser’s latino opponent was particularly nasty: http://ow.ly/k1jix
Thak you for postng this! I did not know that Sanchez used to work for Monica Garcia.
What is the expression about being judged by the company you keep? Well, Michelle Rhee is pretty cosy with John Deasy. And look how much money she donated to get Deasy’s favorites elected to the LAUSD school board.

In fact, Deasy and Rhee go way back.

Now that the infamous “memo” is out, we know that there was MASSIVE cheating going on in D.C. under her reign. As John Merrow suggested, it’s not just about the crime but about the cover-up. Could this be, as he also stated, education’s Watergate?
“Could this be, as he also stated, education’s Watergate?”
One could only hope so. Hopefully no one plays the part of Jerry Ford this time around pardoning the top dog.
But the fact remains, the soon to be total rheeject is just one face of many whom the “Broadfathers” are willing to use and discard (just as they have done with many to earn their obscene fortunes) to further their own personal social agenda (which is to make even more obscene amounts of money and garner more political power).
In the meantime, many will have suffered greatly just as the children did when the rheeject was their “teacher” and when the Broadfathers were/are making their fortunes.
Wonderful! See, it CAN be done (unless the school board is mayor-appointed, BUT I am absolutely confident that WE can change that around, as well). Yes, WE can!!

To those who run for public office…this is how you beat the special interests and the entrenched monied interests in an election; just read Bennett Keyser’s statement.
