In his inimitable style, combining wit and solid analysis, Bruce Baker dissects the latest “data-free drivel” from ConnCAN.
Baker responds to a report claiming that the state was helping low-performing, high-needs districts. Not true, says Baker.
And he has the evidence to back up his response.
The question: Why do the news media report “studies” by advocacy groups with an agenda without recognizing that they are not disinterested research? They are kind of like the research and studies on nicotine and smoking by tobacco companies.
Caveat emptor.
Don’t have time to read the article yet, but every time I hear about the CANs I remember our local RI-CAN website with its picture of Debbie Gist dressed like a superhero, cape and all. Hilarious.
Reblogged this on Transparent Christina.
Con______: Astroturf. Check out their web sites and you’ll see the same design. You’ll also see these places run by plutocrats.
Side note to Ron Poirer- keep up the good work on Projo. I don’t post because there seems to be a glitch with my Facebook account and Projo posts.
Thank you, Dinosaur. It’s interesting you should mention a problem with Facebook because back when Projo was running its own show, my accounts would routinely get “muted” — I would be the only one who would be able to see my posts. I think I went through about 4-5 different accounts (“Werebat”, “Nocturne”, “Grue”, etc) before the switch and haven’t been muted since.
Given the Projo’s pretty firm entrenchment on the side of corporate education reform, I would say that I always wondered if the “muting” were intentional, but to be honest I didn’t wonder much.
