Glenda Ritz walloped uber-reformer Tony Bennett in the race for State Superintendent of Indiana schools.
Now the Indiana state board of education is trying to strip her of all powers, thus nullifying her election and the will of the voters. The board wants to protect Bennett’s efforts to privatize public education and to lower standards for teachers and principals.
Please sign this petition to support Glenda. Always be careful on change.org website. Do not sign other petitions to support “great teachers” or you may unwittingly be joining Rhee’s StudentsFirst.
Hey,
I just signed the petition “Indiana General Assembly: Stop the attempts to dilute the authority of Supt. Glenda Ritz’s office.” and wanted to see if you could help by adding your name.
Our goal is to reach 1,500 signatures and we need more support. You can read more and sign the petition here:
Thanks!
Jenny

I voted for and support Glenda Ritz despite the fact that she just handed 4 large urban schools to the city of Indianapolis for privatization and has made literally no comment on a plan the city is rolling out to take over 30,000 public schools seats in Indianapolis. She seemingly is concerned with issues “outside the loop.” Our urban schools are being taken over and she offers no comment…no plan…no opposition. My vote appears to have been wasted…

It was your vote in the legislature that was wasted. Our elected officials in the House and Senate are wasting no time in privatizing all of Indiana’s public schools…
– increasing the voucher plan by sucking more and more money out of the public schools,
– lowering the professional requirements for licensing as a superintendent or principal
– promoting rules to further reduce the influence and the power of the state Superintendent of Public Instruction.
They couldn’t defeat Glenda Ritz at the polls…so the legislature intends to do it for the voters.
Privatization is in the hands of the supermajority in the state legislature…and it’s thriving.

Good luck there. In Nevada, James W. Guthrie has declared open warfare on teachers and will lobby Bill Gates for handouts to destroy the teaching profession in that state:

This is a fight to the death, people. These gangsters, and that is what they are, will not quit without a giant backlash. Unfortunately, they own Obama and Duncan.

I just signed. In Florida, we can only hope that Tony Bennett will make an even larger fool of himself than did his predecessor, Gerard Robinson.

You won’t have long to wait. They are cut from the same cloth. Test, grade, privatize, test, grade, privatize.
