In the Frontline documentary, John Merrow confronted Michelle Rhee with statistics from certain schools showing dramatic increases in test scores followed by equally dramatic declines. And they had this exchange:
JOHN MERROW: What’s your reaction to those numbers? That the gains are phony.
MICHELLE RHEE
Yeah. I mean, I—again, I—I feel like when you look at a situation like that does it call things into question? Absolutely. And should those things be investigated? A hundred percent. No—there’s no doubt about it. // But I can point to, you know, dozens and dozens of schools where, you know, they saw very steady gains over the course of the—the years that we were there, or even saw some dramatic gains that were maintained. So I think, in isolated places—could something have happened? Maybe.
Retired D.C. teacher and blogger extraordinaire G.F. Brandenburg has started an investigation of the “dozens and dozens of schools” that allegedly saw “steady” or “even some dramatic gains” when Rhee was chancellor.
He will continue his search for the “dozens and dozens” of schools in future posts.

Math and facts do not mean anything to people like Rhee and her backers. It is all about their agenda and ideology for conquest.

The question seems to be ill posed. Rhee is a reformer: reformy intentions trump truth, justice, and the American Way of Public Education.

Dozens and dozens…. By using the plural form of dozen, I assume Rhee means two or more. So, dozens and dozens means at least 2 dozen + at least 2 dozen (being conservative). With this minimum conservative interpretation we have
2(12)+2(12)=24+24=48. I didn’t see 48 schools anywhere.

She really has the makings of a sociopath. Very telling she was confused by the term compassion and her mother mentioned she didn’t seem to care what people thought.

Does that not mean at the least, 48 schools?

To me dozens and dozens means at least 24 minimum. Do we need any more examples??

Dozens (plural), therefore dozens = at least 2 dozen (24).
Dozens AND Dozens, therefore a minimum of 24 + 24. 48.
If Rhee can substantiate consistent steady gains in 48 schools – with a reasonable amount of erasures- I’ll bake her a pi.

One school or a dozen schools over a few years is too isolated. A more meaningful test would be district wide, five or ten years of average improvement, improvement of the bottom quarter, and attrition.
