Trump was interviewed by “Meet the Press” today.
He talked about his Day 1 goals.
He said he would pardon the January 6 insurrectionists, but the reporting did not clarify whether that would include those who brutalized police officers. If so, Republicans should stop calling themselves the party of law and order.
He said he would try to end “birthright citizenship,” the grant of citizenship to persons born in the U.S. He says he would achieve this goal by executive action but birthright citizenship is written into the 14th Amendment to the Constitution. Trump said that no other country in the world has birthright citizenship but NBC said that 30 other nations do.
As usual, Trump ranted about immigrant criminals but NBC pointed out that immigrants are half as likely to commit crimes as native-born citizens.
He also said he would work with Democrats to protect “Dreamers.” These are children who were brought to this country as young children.

He has a problem with ending birth right citizenship. Melania became a citizen in July, 2006. Baron was born in March 2006.

Trump said he would keep such family members together. Of course, there are two ways of doing so: a) Provide for all family members to remain in U.S. b) Provide to eject all family members from the U.S. Trump said he’d do “b.”

The constitution does not say that you are a citizen of one of your parents was a citizen.
It says (14th Anendment):
“All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.”

Trump has been saying he’d pardon the traitors that attacked the US Capital for the convicted rapist, fraud and felon, for years. This isn’t new.
Still, he doesn’t call them traitors. They are his loyalists, his patriots. Once pardoned, he will probably put them in charge of the concentration camps he plans to open across the country.
As for birthright citizenship, those who lose it, if the malignant narcissist, sociopath and megalomanic gets his way, will be selective. Those who voted for Trump three times are safe.
The monster who became a traitor on January 6, 2021, wants to get revenge on everyone who voted for his enemies instead of him. Anyone who ran for office and was a never Trumper no matter what party they belong to is on the felon’s enemies list.

First, his attack on birthright citizenship is another attempt to use his alleged mandate (to reign in out of control immigration) as subterfuge to break the Constitution’s unambiguous 14th amendment guarantee. It would be one small step in eventually nullifying it altogether, which is necessary in order for him to serve terms beyond those proscribed by the Constitution (an idea he’s floated on numerous occasions).
Second, the casting of his seditious coup attempt as “a day of love” weakens the perceiver’s trust in fact and truth. Ignore your eyes and replace your perceptions with whatever the dictator tells you. His freeing of the capitol mob buttresses this alternate reality and plays into the Messianic myth Trump narcissistically and cynically promotes.
Make sure you hang the traitor’s portrait at precisely the right height. He rewards loyalty and punishes dissent.

The claim that illegals commit crimes at half the rate of citizens is dubious; many of those crimes go unreported. And even if true, so what? There are many thousands of illegals in the country who have been convicted of some type of violent crime or credibly accused of it – NONE of them should be here.

I used to mention this prediction in the college classes that I taught but ultimately I stopped doing it, after seeing how often white students freaked out over it –especially those who were Republicans. The thought of that occurring within their lifetimes was extremely ominous to them. They feared not having the advantages that they’ve long had (especially white men). And they also were afraid of being treated as badly as many whites have treated minorities throughout our history…

We have secret ballots in most states, so how can he legally require that people disclose who they voted for in order to get a federal job? Sounds like lawsuits may have to be filed to test the legality of this across the country — though SCOTUS could not be trusted to side against him. Ugh
