Amazon video. It clearly reveals the fraud behind education reform that’s a clever gambit to get tax payers to support segregation and/or racism.
I meant to say amazing. Must have been the automatic spell check that turned a typo into Amazon. LOL
Anyway, this leads to another thought: Who is financially supporting top down education reform?
Except for Oprah, they are all white billionaire oligarchs—mostly older than fifty—who belong to the Bill Gates Cabal. Does Oprah really know that she’s supporting racism and segregation for the elite?
Thanks for the quick link Lloyd!
Oprah belongs to the Bill Gates cabal. She knows.
Send this to POTUS. Does he not understand the the poorest, most vulnerable students are being short changed under his policies?
He doesn’t care.
at least as much for them as he does his oligarchical masters.
Superb! Should be circulated via internet as widely as possible. In addition, let me recommend an important new book — God, Schools, and Government Funding: First Amendment Conundrum, by Laurence Winer and Nina Crimm (Ashgate, 2015, $119.95). This book by two law profs is a complete, up-to-date analysis of Supreme Court and state court rulings on vouchers, tax credits and ESA’s (education savings accounts, a sneaky tax credit devise). Winer and Crimm show how the Supreme Court and lower courts, usually thanks to Republican justices and judges, have been chipping away at the constitutional barriers to the diversion of public funds to special interest faith-based and other private schools. This book shows why all who care about saving public education need to get really serious about political action to elect lawmakers who will oppose that diversion and appoint judges who will do likewise. The book’s price is high, but it is worth it. — Edd Doerr (arlinc.org)
In addition to this short and clear graphic, this organization has the national stats and a state-by-state report on the percentage of school age children living in poverty–the highest rate among so called “developed ” countries and the very hard fact that pushers of schooling, testing, parental choice, and charters, willfully ignore.
Incredible! I am a special education teacher from California and I’m glad our state didn’t come up in that graphic. However, something needs to be done to stop funneling public money into private schools.
Private schools cherry pick and are highly selective regarding who they admit into their schools. This is very similar to charter schools. As Lloyd Lofthouse mentioned above, this leads to segregation and/or racism. Private schools/charter schools often will look over special needs kids and English language learners because they often perform poor on exams and generally project a bad image. Image is important because the private schools need to be able to attract customers/students in order to be successful/profitable.
According to the video, about 1 billion public dollars per year are currently being funneled to private schools to serve a select few. That money is better served in the public schools where all students would be served.
The federal government also needs to step it up and be responsible. The feds love to mandate programs and initiatives on schools yet they often do not provide the funding to implement those initiatives and programs and school districts are left scrambling and are forced to cut services in other areas just to be compliant with new rules and regulations that came down from the feds.
Edd Doerr is right, this video needs to be circulated via internet as widely as possible. People need to know what’s happening in this country. People need to stand up and let their voices be heard. Valiant people have laid down their lives in this country fighting against segregation and racism. To allow the government to take a few steps back would be a serious disrespect to them and this country.
You must understand the entire agenda. By only looking at one part you miss the entire picture. CHOICE is for all children. The idea is to allow funds, ” to follow the child” in ESEA Reauthorization. This will allow the federal government to mandate to ALL schools when those choice TITLE I portabikity funds can go to any school. This is Obama’s Equity in Opportunity and Equity in Funding. The IDEA FUNDS KICK IN FOR INTERVENTIONS FOR ALL CHILDREN. Parents and teachers better read the fine print in the Reauthorization in No Child Left Behind. HR 5 & Alexander’s ESEA will completely nationalize education.

We just found out City of Richmond did not accept the school budget. Now, they usually only give about 17% of their budget to the public schools, and now we are fighting for any of it? These are your urban, low income students being tested to death. It is a shame. This week our administrators told us they are sending home additional packets of learning information for our students and want teachers to do the same in each content area. We are talking about first graders here. As a colleague mentioned and I supported, “are we to work these little blessings to death?” Childhood just flew out the window in Richmond.
