Governor Chris Christie of New Jersey seems to be running for the Republican nomination for President in 2016. If he does run, please remember his repeated attacks on public school teachers. Jersey Jazzman documents them here.
JJ shows how he fabricates his claims against teachers. He flat out makes up the facts. He accused the New Jersey Education Association of running billboards accusing him of “hating children.” That was supposed to make NJEA look cruel and paint him as a victim of this vicious and unscrupulous union. Except it wasn’t true.
This man should not be President. He is reckless with the truth. He is not trustworthy. He has no respect for teachers. Don’t forget.
Want to swap governors?
Governor Christie is not the only person position of leadership who has created a climate of disrespect for Teachers. Many Governors across the United States have created this chilling climate for several years and will continue to do so until the general public stands up and tells them enough is enough and sends them all packing. The climate of disrespect started with George Bush, his Secretary of Education and continues today with our current Secretary of Education Duncan. The climate is totally supported by the big corporations whose main goal is to privatize public education by any means possible for their profit and loss statements/stockholders. New Mexico has two of the biggest contributors to this climate of disrespect for professional educators at all levels, Pre-K through 20. These two are Governor Martinez and Secretary of Education Designee Hanna Skandera. Their disrespect for Teachers, School Administrators, and even college Professors and Administrators, is evident all the actions they have taken in the last four years. They are climbing the political ladder on the backs of our Students, Parents, Teachers, and School Administrators.
Yep. Utah is saddled with a worthless gov, and just got a teacher-hater as the state superintendent – he’ll be spouting off soon about how lazy and overpaid teachers are, I’m sure. Arizona – same story, though they have a chance to elect a new state Supe who might not be such a teacher-hater/public education hater. WA State’s gov, while not so openly disrespectful, played up the fact that his dad was a teacher and said that he supported teachers and public education, then promptly sold us out to Arne Duncan while giving Boeing yet another tax break even as they move more jobs to cheap, non-union states with untrained labor. Our state Supe is pretty worthless too, though given what we could have, I’d rather have worthless than a teacher-hating ed-Deformer (there will be several candidates like that in the next election, paid for by Gates $$).
Christie is a bully.
There is a GREAT This American Life featuring Christie when he was a DA (or similar lawerly position, I forget specifically). The story essentially features Christie railroading an immigrant as a Terrorist, even after the facts come out that this man was railroaded. The journalist asks if Christie made a mistake, which is obviously did to a deleterious effect to this man. But Christie remained steadfast in his BELIEF that the man was guilty of the charges despite evidence to the contrary. This was all before Christie was Governor and the interview is very candid. I’m surprised Christie hasn’t sued to take it down. It paint’s a very bad picture of him. That his belief trumps truth and evidence.
I just had a nightmare of a thought. What if it ended up being Christy against Cuomo? I’d have to move to Canada.
The disrespect for teachers is part of the plan, as is the total disrespect for the law of due process that sent over one hundred thousand teachers out of their practice.
Thank you Diane for making the disrespect for us, Known!
Who else but you.
Well, since we’re talking about Governor Cristie:
Where can I get the address for this… it is fabulous… thank you for posting it.
The majority of politicians have created an atomosphere of disrespect for teachers. This all goes along with campaign financing from large charters.
Who in the world has voted for this man?
Reading Exchange,
Christie cut deals with the top NJ Dems and used many questionable tactics (bridge gate) to get democratic support. Even Barack Obama WENT OUT OF HIS WAY TO EMBARRASS Christie’s Democratic opponent. Yes, the democratic President went out of his way to help Christie get re-elected. (Payback for “the hug”?) As part of the deal Christie never engaged any incumbent Democrats and His party saw no coattail effect.
Barbara Buono was abandon by her own party.
So, to answer you question, “Who in the world….” , most of the NJ republicans, many democrats and Most of the Democratiic Leadership in the state!
Sad but true…
Thank you, Galton, for taking your time to explain how this man managed to win any public office.
Now I have to ask this question now that the “truth” has been told.
Who in the world will continue to vote for this man?
To K Quinn and every teacher who knows the truth about why the schools failed… the best, dedicated, experienced teacher-practitioners were removed by a lawless process
http://www.speakingasateacher.com/SPEAKING_AS_A_TEACHER/No_Constitutional_Rights-_A_hidden_scandal_of_National_Proportion.html
and the media took up the Duncan RANT…THAT BAD TEACHER.
They ‘got’ you K Quinn, like the got me, even thought I was a celebrated educator

because the only narrative the GOP allows is one that ensures the teacher has no voice.
THAT is because the TEACHER-PRACTIONER is the ONLY one who knows WHAT IT TAKES TO TEACH those kids sitting in her practice. (WITTT, which will be a crucial subject of my own blog)
In order to push their own ‘fixes’ they must continue to muzzle the teacher and silence their voices in this national debate.
Imagine silencing doctors about what it takes to treat sicl people, or muzzling lawyers about what it takes to defend a person.
The controllers of the national narrative about EVERYTHING, know that the story of the teachers, how they were slandered and traumatized must never get out… and the truth is, the story will not be told by the union or by you, so it is up to teachers like Karen Horwitz
http://endteacherabuse.org/
to put the stories out there… but who goes to NAPTA… not the media.
No one listens to the teacher, and the teacher-practitioner is the ONLY one who knows what is needed to enable learning. All the talk about CC and PARC and VAM, and nowhere are the stories of the tens of thousands of dedicated Americans who were thrown to the wolves as the media blamed them.
It was so simple, this war on teachers, because these oligarchs own the media and the legislature and the governors.
If anyone wishes to retore the public school, then it is imperative not only to restore confidence in the teacher, but to TELL HOW REMOVING THE MOST EXPERIENCED VETERANS WAS AT THE CRUX OF SCHOOL FAILURE… and THEIR STORIES WILL TEAR THE HEARTSTRINGS OF GOOD PEOPLE.
It is a national tragedy, and Diane and Randi and EVERYONE knows how it was accomplished, and how it must stop! NOW!
WHO WILL STAND UP FOR ME… FOR US… AND SAY, ENOUGH!”

Interesting perspective and food for thought for the parents of the children of New Jersey.
It all started with Bush, but Obama has continue the betrayal with the Common Core and by maintaining the useless standardized tests to evaluate teachers…What a shame!!! All politicians are destroying our country as they only care about their agenda.
