As state superintendent in Indiana, according to this news story, Tony Bennett sent a lot of business to Charter Schools USA. When Bennett moved to Florida, his wife got a job with Charter Schools, USA.
Whether she was qualified is irrelevant. Public officials should not only avoid conflicts of interest but the appearance of a conflict of interest. If Florida has any ethical standards, this situation would not be permitted. Charter Schools, USA, is a for-profit chain.
Drip, drip, drip…what’s next?
Despite his resignation in Florida, keep on digging. There will be more unethical behavior discovered, and he will pop up in another state unless the pressure stays on him and his ilk.
Surprise, surprise! And parents of Charter School students think that their children have better teachers…
I am pleased to see more folks getting a whiff of the stench of these used car salesmen.
Be nice to used car salesmen would ya!!
Florida ethics is an oxymoron. The ed reform movement has been hijacked by the profiteers. We must reclaim it.
People should not stop digging on Bennett now. I’d wager he resigned so that the heat could cool off while he waits for his next post.
We need to be ready with a mountain of evidence so horrific that he can’t assume that next post destroying schools. We need to keep digging in Indiana and Florida to save the next municipality that seeks to place him and his self-serving agenda that happens to serve the reformers aims.
Keep digging and investigate the Bennett’s contracts with Wireless Generation (Rupert Murdoch) to take over George Washington Community High School. Were the scores manipulated? The HS moved from F to C in one year!
How much did Rupert Murdoch through Wireless Generation contribute to Bennett?

“George Washington Community HS received a C as its final letter grade for school accountability.
This is a two letter grade increase from last year.
The final grade reflects student performance and improvement on the Algebra I and English 10 Graduation Exams, along with graduation rate and college & career readiness.”
TONIGHT ON UP WITH CHRIS HAYES ON MSNBC — TONY BENNETT’S FIERY RESIGNATION RANTS!!!
Yes, I was just going to post too! Great minds
Let us not forget about Jeb Bush or Gov. Scott, now that Bennett is a visible target.
Here’s the Chris Hayes, all in segment on Bennett. Very good, covered a lot.

So What! In my district the former superintendent brought in at least 12 family members and lord knows how many friends, displacing and hiring over better qualified people. The board said nothing and we moved on. Nepotism and cronyism alive and well in public school districts. He retired with his vacation and sick pay being added on before the state pension was figured. Talk about waste.
