A good question, no?
Both have had trouble getting confirmed.
Both are members of Jeb Bush’s Chiefs for Change.
Both are committed to privatization.

This is a great post. It seems that anyone connected with FEE is going to be caught in an email situation. Why does anyone think Jeb Bush has Chiefs for Change if not to tell them his bidding in exchange for his money?
And the reimbursed opportunities for administrators/politicians to meet with corporations is an ALEC concept. And Jeb Bush is an ALEC poster boy.
Both think Bradley Manning is Peyton and Eli’s younger brother?
Our Supt of Public Instruction in AZ is not an educator, and he won his election running against a real educator. As a matter of fact, our Supt of Public Instruction never attended a public school. Who says you can’t fool all the people all the time?
I was working at a TV station in New Mexico when Hanna Skandera was appointed Secretary of Education. I pitched an investigation into her qualifications and how strikingly similar her plan is to what Florida did under Jeb Bush even though New Mexico and Florida have very different populations and needs. That story idea never made it out of our story meetings. Also, my news director at the time told us to stop referring to Hanna Skandera as Secretary of Education-Designate in scripts and on-screen graphics about three months after she was appointed, but never confirmed. We were told to call her Secretary of Education as though she had been confirmed.
In Maryland we have a superintendent who is 32 years old and the requirement of three years teaching experience was waived by the state ed dept… Our district has over 150 schools with over 100,000 students.. We are talking not talking Hooterville. Someone got fooled. Our appointed BOE bought it hook, line, and sinker.
