I just learned that ALEC is holding a meeting this week in Salt Lake City.
One block away, ALEC critics will meet to discuss privatization, school vouchers, and other ALEC activities that undermine the public sector.
If you are in SLC, consider stopping by.

One of Washington’s legislators is receive an award at that meeting.
Every state needs to organize like Utah and expose this secret organizaton. The Council for National Policy and the Heritage Foundaton should be included as they all seem to blend together along with others of the same political belief…whatever it is. It is not what most Americans think of as conservative.
If I even mention ALEC to most friends and family members they accuse me of being a conspiracy theorist. Wake up America!
Check out the ALEX Exposed website.
Ken, also check the web…many article about ALEC, CNP, Heritage Foundation and other organizations connected. Check Center for Privatizaton also. No conspiracy; they have been exposed.
This was just posted on the Oregon Education Association website about ALEC.
“ALEC has ties to Oregon Connections Academy, a virtual charter school run by a for-profit company, Connections Academy LLC, which benefitted from Oregon legislators approving in 2011 (through HB 2301) public education dollars going to for-profit out-of-state companies. One legislator is even on the Connections Academy payroll. Pearson, another for-profit education corporation, recently bought Connections Academy. Both corporations are ALEC members.”

the leader of the education committee of ALEC is a vp of Connections, now owned by Pearson
Tim, you might find this amusing or disgusting. It’s a bit of both. To me, it’s more disgusting.
Now, not to be outdone, Harrison, the state ALEC chairman, has sent out a form letter on state letterhead soliciting contributions of $1,000 each to finance the travel of Louisiana legislative ALEC members to an ALEC conference in Salt Lake City July 25-28. The identities of the recipients of his requests for money were unknown.

Here’s the Facebook Page and Home Page of the Voters Legislative Transparency Project, another watchdog group that keeps an eye on ALEC-aida and other bands of privateers.
Conflict of interest? Seems that way to me! I hope ciitizens in every state will work to accumulate evidence re conflict of interest. In my state, it is not acceptable. I believe it is against state law. The state constitutions are usually posted on the web and now most states post the laws. Getting the information re conflict of interest from the vested interest will be the most difficult, but it has to be somewhere…Corporation Commission; Secretary of State Office; Legislative Laws/Acts etc. State Supt. of Instruction; or, State Charter School Committee; or state foundations for vouchers…AZ has 57. Wow! Let’s go hunting!
